Show Sub-Committee The Show Sub-Committee is headed by our Show Chairman, Mr Pang Hon Seong, and supported by Deputy Show Chairman, Mr Darren Koh, the Operations Head, Mr Steven Tan and the Logistics Head, Mr Darren Koh. The other members of the Sub-Committee are responsible for registration, benching, trophies, protocol, PR, and social. Our Acting President, Mr Pang Hon Seong is Advisor to the Committee and an interpreter may or may not be appointed for the show depending upon requirements. 2 Show Rules & Regulations 1. Entry Fees This will be a British Style show ie. Koi will be kept by owner by tank (vat) to prevent disease spreading. There are 2 tank sizes available for rental by the Club:- A. 3.2 Tonne Tank @ S$ 750 per tank B. 2.2 Tonne Tank @ S$ 600 per tank 15-20BU 1pc S$ 50 in clear plastic bag only 25-30BU 1pc S$ 70 in clear plastic bag only 35-45BU 1pc S$ 90 in clear plastic bag only 2. Reservation of tanks is on a first-come-first-serve basis. One Entry Form to be submitted for each tank (vat). For small koi, one plastic bag per entry will be provided by the Club. 3. Stocking Density we have limited the numbers of Koi per tank for health reasons. A. 80- >80 BU max 3 Koi per tank (3.2 Tonne Tank) 65-75 BU max 4 Koi per tank (3.2 Tonne Tank) B. 50-60 BU max 6 Koi per tank (2.2 Tonne Tank) 15-45 BU one piece per plastic bag 4. The closing date for all entries is 18 th April 2014. Late entries may be submitted after the closing date, but a late entry charge of SGD50 per koi will be imposed provided all late entries submitted by latest 21 st April 2014. Your cooperation is requested to submit your entries as early as possible to assist in our logistics/operations. Completed entry forms with cash payment and/or cheques to be made payable to THE KOI CLUB (SINGAPORE). The Show Chairman reserves the right to reject and/or remove any koi, which is found to be sick, diseased or unsuitable for the show. 6. The competition is open to paid-up members only. Kindly ensure that you have also renewed your membership subscriptions. Non-members who wish to take part are requested to submit their membership applications before 18 th April 2014 or pay a lump sum of $200 per person regardless of the member of koi entered. Membership forms are available at telephone no: 9199-2457. Entries from overseas may be accepted at the discretion of the Show Committee by invitation only, and subject to the quarantine restrictions imposed by the Singapore AVA (Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore). 7. Competitors need not submit photographs of their koi together with their Show Entry Forms. Photographs will only be needed during benching on 25 th and 26 th April 2014. Please note: Competitors MUST submit 4 non-returnable photographs (4R size) during benching. Koi without proper photographs will not be allowed to participate in the competition. No markings or identification to be on the front of the photographs.
3 8. The following details must be printed clearly on stickers on the back of each photograph, eg., Owner Handler Group/classification Size (cm 64) : John Ong : XYZ Koi Farm Pte Ltd : Group 1/Kohaku : 65 BU No handwritten details (on the back of the photographs) which could be smudged can be accepted. 9. The actual size of koi shall be measured by the owner/handler and shall be on a selfdeclaration basis. If the incorrect size is detected once judging has commenced, the koi will automatically be disqualified and will not be eligible for any prize award. Competitors are urged to be accurate when stating the actual size, ie., --cm of their koi. Koi are measured from the tip of the mouth to the end of the upper caudal (tail) fin. 10. The size of the photographs must be 4R. Four copies of each photograph should clearly show the koi occupying at least two-thirds of the photograph. Only blue coloured tubs should be used as a background. As these same photographs would also be printed onto all Prize Winning Certificates, please submit proper and clear photos of your koi. Benching 11. The Club cannot and shall not be held responsible for any theft, loss, damage or death of any koi. 12. All members and dealers are encouraged to submit the maximum number of koi provided they have sufficient manpower to back up during benching, transportation to the judging arena, and de-benching, 13. Benching will be from 3.00pm to 6.00pm Friday 25 April (Koi Size: 50BU to >80BU). No koi will be accepted after 6.00pm on 25 th April 2014. And 6.30am to 8.30am Saturday 26 April (Koi Size: 15BU to 45BU). No koi will be accepted after 8.30am. 14. Self-benching In the interests of the health of the koi, the owners or owners representatives will be responsible for their koi. With the risks of KHV it is essential that koi / water is not transferred across tanks. Participants/ owners/dealers are to use their own nets and plastic bags. 15. Competitors are requested not to feed their koi at least 7 days prior to the show. This is to prevent pollution of water in the display tanks, which may endanger the health of other koi sharing the same tank. Koi are judged on the day and polluted water may cause a rapid deterioration in the condition of the koi. 16. Competitors shall not introduce any additives, chemicals, or ice into the water in the display tanks.
4 Judging 17. Koi, which are found to be unhealthy, deformed or injured, shall not be allowed to participate in the competition. In the event of a dispute on the physical condition of any koi, the Show Committee s decision shall be final. Defects The following are considered defects and may warrant disqualification by the Judges : a. docked or deliberately shortened tail fin; b. no barbel c. blind or eye missing; d. no pectoral fin or one pectoral fin; e. a deep scar on the body; f. a scar in a range of a few scales; g. no primary bone of a pectoral fin or a dorsal fin. Faults The following are considered faults and may warrant demerit points when judging : a. Face too long, flat face, abnormally unsymmetrical face, lumps, caves or hollows, twisted lip or gill, overly large or small eyes, bulging eyes, white or red-covered eyes; b. Swollen shoulder, distorted shoulder line; c. Very wide or small upper body; d. Swollen or flabby belly; e. Very skinny tail joint or weakened tail part; f. Uneven pectoral fins or deformed fins; g. Abnormal swimming form; h. Very thin or short body, very fat, or body too wide. 18. All handlers will be issued with neutral Yellow/Black T-Shirts supplied by the Club and they are required to wear them on the day of the Show. Handlers without neutral Yellow/Black T-Shirts will not be allowed into the judging arena. 19. After all the judging has been completed, all prize winners must check the white boards at the show site to ensure that the postings are in order. Should there be any errors, please inform the registration counter immediately. 20. In the event of any disputes, the Show Committee shall be the sole authority for the interpretation of Show Rules and Regulations. 21. The judges decisions are final. No further correspondence will be entertained. Prize-giving 22. Trophy presentation will be done at 10.000am and 2.30pm on Sunday 27th 2014 respectively at the show site. Competitors are requested to be properly attired when receiving trophies. (No shorts and slippers). All winners are requested to be present but should they be unable to attend, they may nominate another adult to collect the prizes on their behalf. Please note that the Club shall not be responsible for any unclaimed prizes.
5 23. All other prize certificates will be passed personally to the handlers by members of the Committee within the month of May 2014.. De-benching 24. All koi may only be removed from the display tanks on Show day of 27 April 2014 from 7pm to 9pm. The Show Committee shall not be held responsible for any koi not collected after the specified time. 25. Owners who remove their koi prior to the stipulated time may be precluded from showing at future Shows. However, if the koi should develop a life threatening condition, the Show Chairman has the right to request the respective owner/handlers to remove their koi from the Show ground. 26.
