NOTE: By entering this show all owners, handlers, breeders and kennels agree to make themselves available for interview if requested. Exhibitors may video tape individual runs only for personal use. Award photos will follow the completion of each competition. Award recipients are requested to wait for photographs. A group photo will be taken for the top four placements in each class and a group photo of the First Place winners in the classes immediately following the Award Ceremony. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian s recommendations to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. A copy of a dog s vaccination record, including a current rabies certificate, must be present for all dogs at the event. 4

JUNIOR CLASSIC OBEDIENCE & RALLY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Junior Eligibility Requirements: o The event is open to any Junior Handler under the age of 19 on the first day of the event. o Competitor must have an AKC Junior Handler number prior to entering. Junior Handler numbers can be requested at: http://classic.akc.org/kids_juniors/jrnoform.cfm. o The dog shown by the Junior must be owned or co-owned by the Junior Handler or by the Junior Handler s father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather or grandmother, including the corresponding step and half relations, or by a permanent member of the Junior Handler s household. According to the Junior Showmanship Regulations, Section 7. Eligibility of Dog. Dog Eligibility Requirements: o All dogs must have: Have an AKC Number; or Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privilege (PAL/ILP) http://www.akc.org/reg/ilpex.cfm; or AKC Canine Partners SM Program Listing Number. *The AKC Canine Partners SM Program is for all dogs, including mixed-breed dogs; or Foreign registration number and country for an unregistered imported dog. * Any dog that is entered in this event, and enrolled with the AKC Canine Partners SM Program, will have their $35 registration fee waived. JUNIOR CLASSIC OBEDIENCE CLASS ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY INFORMATION Classes Offered & Eligibility Requirements: Entry eligibility is based on the dog s class eligibility as outlined below. All dogs entered will have the opportunity to compete twice in the class entered over the two-day event, once on Saturday and once on Sunday, if the classes are selected each day. Mark the classes you wish to enter each day on the entry form. Dogs must be entered at the highest level eligible. Beginner Novice: For dogs with no obedience titles, or with a Beginner Novice (BN) title and no other additional AKC Obedience titles, prior to the close of entries. Preferred Novice: For dogs with a Preferred Companion Dog (PCD) or Companion Dog (CD) title, but no other higher AKC Obedience titles, prior to the close of entries. Preferred Open: For dogs with a Graduate Novice (GN), Preferred Open (PCDX), Companion Dog Excellent (CDX), Graduate Open (GO), Preferred Utility (PUTD) or Utility Dog (UD) title, prior to the close of entries. 5

JUNIOR CLASSIC RALLY CLASSES ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY INFORMATION All juniors participating in the 2018 Junior Rally Classic will have the opportunity to compete twice in the class entered over the two-day event if the classes are selected each day. Classes Offered & Eligibility Requirements: Entry eligibility is based on the dog s class eligibility as outlined below. All dogs entered will have the opportunity to compete twice in the class entered, once on Saturday and once on Sunday. Mark the classes you wish to enter each day on the entry form. Dogs must be entered at the highest level eligible. Rally Novice: Open to any dog that has not earned qualifying scores toward an AKC Rally Intermediate (RI) or AKC Rally Advanced (RA) title, prior to the close of entries. Rally Intermediate: Open to any dog that has earned the AKC Rally Novice (RN) title or the AKC Rally Intermediate (RI) title, but has not earned the AKC Rally Advanced (RA) title, prior to the close of entries. Rally Advanced: Open to any dog that has earned the AKC Rally Novice (RN), Rally Intermediate (RI) title or AKC Rally Advanced (RA) title, but has not earned an AKC Rally Excellent (RE) title, prior to the close of entries. Rally Excellent: Open to any dog that has earned qualifying scores toward an AKC Rally Excellent (RE) title; or any dog that has earned the AKC Rally Excellent (RE), or Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE), or Rally Master (RM) titles may be entered in this class. Rally Master: Open to any dog that has earned the Rally Excellent (RE) title; or qualifying scores or titles toward an AKC Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE), or Rally Master (RM) titles may be entered in this class. OBEDIENCE & RALLY BONUS SCORING INFORMATION In addition to the scoring of the team s performance for each of the exercises the junior handler will be judged on the following criteria. These points will be added to the dog s performance scores for a total score to determine final overall placements for awards: General Appearance of Dog and Handler: Dog clean & groomed, proper collar/leash. Handler neatly dressed. Dog and handler look like a team. Interaction/Relationship with Dog Between Exercises: Interacts well with dog and maintains control; moves efficiently between exercises. Ring Awareness: Attention to judge, follows judges orders, enters and exits the ring correctly. Attitude of Handler: Courteous, exhibits appropriate leadership qualities for dog; maintains a good attitude; helps dog recover as needed; exhibits good sportsmanship/ 10 pts. 10 pts. 10 pts. 10 pts. OFFICIAL AKC JUNIOR CLASSIC ENTRY FORM & INFORMATION The entry form can be located on the Juniors Classic webpage, https://www.akc.org/sports/obedience/events/obedience-classic/junior-classic/. Opening Date for entries is Wednesday, August 8, 2018 Closing Date/Time for entries is Tuesday, September 4, 2018 @ 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and will not be accepted until the date listed above. All entries will have the entry fee deposited upon receipt. Entries not on the Official AKC Juniors Classic Entry Form or photocopies of the entry form without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side are NOT ACCEPTABLE. No entry shall be made or accepted, which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. In order to submit your entry: It must be delivered by USPS, or a multi-state or multi-national postal or carrier service including but not limited to USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. No entries will be accepted by fax, email, hand delivery or phone. Entry forms and fees may be sent via one of the following: USPS: AKC Companion Events, Attn: AKC Juniors Classic Entry, PO Box 900050, Raleigh, NC 27675-9050; or Overnight Carrier: AKC Companion Events, Attn: AKC Juniors Classic Entry, 8051 Arco Corporate Drive, Ste. 100, Raleigh, NC 27617-3390. Please make checks or money orders payable to AKC Juniors Classic. Inquiries may be directed to Trial Secretary, Lisa Liggins at NJOC@akc.org. Dog s Call Name: Please be sure to include your dog s call name on the entry forms. This will be used for award presentations. Errors on Entry Forms: Owners are responsible for errors on entry forms and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the trial has closed. Illegible entries: Will not be processed and will be returned to the exhibitor. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry. A twenty-five ($25.00) dollar collection fee will be added to the amount of each returned check. Limited Entries: Entries will be limited to the first 60 dogs in obedience and the first 60 dogs in rally. Email notifications will be sent to advise you of the status of your entry. If a class fills prior to the close of entries, a wait-list will be kept for that class. Entries received after the limit has been reached, will be wait-listed in the order received and a final notification status will be sent by Monday, October 8, 2018. Confirmation of Entry: You will receive a confirmation email that your entry has been received. If you do not receive an email confirmation within 2 weeks of sending in an entry, please contact us at NJOC@akc.org. Cancellation of Entry: The closing date and time is Tuesday, September 4, 2018 @ 4:00 p.m. ET. You may cancel your entry via email sent to NJOC@akc.org or by fax at (919) 816-4204 and refunds for cancellations will be made within 45 days after the closing date. Requests to cancel an entry, in classes that have a wait-list, will be allowed up until Tuesday, September 25, 2018 @ 4:00 p.m. ET. Waitlisted classes will be published HERE. Changes to Entries: Changes, additions or corrections to entries must be received in writing prior to the closing date. Updates are to be sent to NJOC@akc.org. Bitches in Season: Are not permitted to compete in Obedience or Rally Events. Refunds will be processed if the Trial Secretary is notified no later than one half hour prior to the start of the judging. Veterinarian statements must be provided to the Trial Secretary in writing. They may be hand delivered at the event, emailed to NJOC@akc.org or faxed to (919) 816-4204. Entry Fees: Entry fees are required with each entry. NO ENTRY FEE will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee. No entry fee will be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a judge or veterinarian, or barred from competition by the action of the Event Committee. There will be no refund for duplicate entries. 7

A full service food concession is available on site. ADDITIONAL SITE INFORMATION The American Kennel Club and the Orange County Convention Center will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items left at the show site. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s) at the show site and hotels. Any exhibitor failing to do so may be asked to leave the show grounds without benefit of refund if the Event Committee deems the exhibitor to be in violation of this requirement. Cleaning supplies and disposal sites will be available at various locations around the show grounds. OTHER EVENT ACTIVITIES AKC recognized breeds may be represented at the AKC Meet the Breeds display to help you choose the breed that s right for you. Vendor Booths packed with everything for dogs and their owners. Vendor Attendance vendor invitations for the AKC National Championship show are emailed in early July. Two days of action packed competition as the AKC Juniors Classic, AKC Obedience Classic, AKC Agility Invitational and AKC Juniors Agility Competition are held in conjunction with the AKC National Championship to find the nation s top dogs in the world. JUNIORS OBEDIENCE CLASSIC AWARDS, PRIZES & RIBBONS All Juniors will receive a participation Rosette for competing in the events. Please mark your entry form clearly with your name for this rosette. SATURDAY & SUNDAY AWARDS 1 st 4th Placements will be awarded at the end of each Obedience & Rally class. Placements will be based on the total score earned, including the bonus points. SUNDAY S TOP AWARDS To be eligible for these awards, the dog must be entered and shown in Obedience and Rally, on both Saturday and Sunday (four classes). Junior Classic High Scoring Awards: Highest combined scores earned from two Beginner Novice classes and two Rally classes (plus the Bonus points) by the same handler/dog team. Highest combined scores earned from two Preferred Novice classes and two Rally classes (plus the Bonus points) by the same handler/dog team. Highest combined scores earned from two Preferred Open classes and two Rally classes (plus the Bonus points) by the same handler/dog team. In the case of a tied score for these awards, the dog completing the two rally courses in the least amount of combined time will receive the award. 2018 Top Combined Obedience & Rally Junior Award: The best obedience and best rally score from each handler/dog team during the Junior Classic event will be selected to represent the team s best combined score; and their bonus points will be added to their combined score for an Overall Total Score. The team with the Highest Overall Total Score will receive this award. In the case of ties for the Overall Total Score, the dog completing the rally course in the least amount of time will receive the award. Example: Obedience Class (Saturday) + Rally Class (Sunday) + All Bonus Points = Overall Total Score. A group photo will be taken of All Juniors participating in the events during the lunch break, on Saturday, please plan to be ringside for this event photo. Award pictures will be taken each day at the conclusion of the awards presentation. Juniors who place 1 st 4 th are asked to proceed to the photo booth for a group photo. All award recipients are requested to wait for photographs. If you are unable to stay for a group photo, please let an AKC Representative know. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL EXHIBITORS PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE SECTION CAREFULLY EXHIBITOR CHECK-IN: Check-in will be held at the Orange County Convention Center Friday, December 14 th, more details to follow. Obedience and Rally exhibitors will be allowed to check-in and then set-up their crating area at that time. If you cannot check-in until Saturday morning you must do so 30 minutes prior to the start of judging. You will receive your armband, event catalog and an event souvenir bag at check-in. Once the location for check-in is determined all exhibitors will be notified by email. In the event you are not able to check-in and receive your admission tickets prior to Saturday morning, please notify Trial Secretary, Lisa Liggins at NJOC@akc.org or 919-816-3816. Exhibitors MUST check-in at EACH ring they are exhibiting in. CRATING: Each dog entered in the event will be allotted one 3 x5 space. Un-entered dogs will only be allowed in the facility if they can share the crate with an entered dog, or if their crate can be stacked on top of an entered dog s crate within the 3 x5 space allotted. Soft sided crates are only permitted in the obedience/rally and agility areas. A crate is defined as having a top, bottom and four walls, all interconnecting, thus preventing the dog from escaping. Each exhibitor will be required to display an information card on the outside of each crate; card(s) will be supplied at check-in. The information card must have your name and on site emergency contact information. NO EX-PENS will be allowed in the facility. No dogs are permitted to be crated or groomed on any carpeted area. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH: Dogs must be on leash, held by the handler at all times while on the trial grounds except when in the designated warm-up area or competing in the ring. Dogs may NOT be on retractable leads or long-lines while inside the building. Failure to maintain control of a dog may result in an Event Committee hearing. SPECIAL TRAINING COLLARS ARE PROHIBITED. WARM-UP RING: A warm-up ring will be provided for dogs entered in the AKC Obedience Classic and the AKC Junior Classic in accordance with the Obedience Regulations, Chapter 1, Section 33. This ring will be monitored and if there are any problems, the ring will be closed. Warm-ups should be limited to warming up. Please allow others to go before you if they have a close ring time. Exhibitors will be respectful of each other. CATALOGS: All exhibitors will receive a complimentary copy of the commemorative catalog in their check-in packet. A limited supply of catalogs will be available for purchase at the event. SAFETY, BEHAVIOR and LIABILITY: The safety of the dog is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of the AKC. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dog and/or children create an unnecessary disturbance or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior, may, at the discretion of the Event Committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such cases, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The American Kennel Club and its agents, employees, etc., will assume no responsibilities for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. The American Kennel Club reserves the right to decline entries for cause and may remove any dog on account of aggression. No one shall have any recourse or claim against the American Kennel Club or any official thereof. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian s recommendations to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. A copy of a dog s vaccination record, including a current rabies certificate, must be present for all dogs at the event. This club agrees to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Official AKC Juniors Classic Entry Form for this event. 11

This year's exhibitor's catalog will be 8.5 X 5.5 inches, allowing a full-page ad area approximately 4.5 X 7.5 inches to post your message and/or picture. Camera ready ads are accepted in high-resolution press quality PDFs (preferred). JPEG or TIFF files are also acceptable (minimum 300 pixels/inch). If you are sending photos separately, the photos should be scanned to a finished size and at a minimum of 300 pixels/inch. Do not forget to include the correct orientation. Full page ads MUST be in a portrait orientation, and half page ads MUST be in a landscape orientation. If mailing, please send only high quality photos for scanning purposes.
