South Paw is committed to providing your dog a safe place to play and socialize. We look forward to meeting you and your dog! Tracy Waterfallen Owner South Paw Doggie Daycare & Training Center

South Paw Doggie Daycare & Training Center Daycare Information and Policies The purpose of our doggie daycare program is to provide a safe, fun and stimulating social environment for dogs. To ensure the safety and health of your dog and others, we require all clients to comply with the following: Dogs must be current on all required vaccinations and have a copy on file at South Paw. (Owners must submit a copy at time of application as well as keep records updated) All dogs visiting the facility must be heartworm negative and free of intestinal worms. All dogs must be on a heartworm preventative and a flea control program. All dog 7 months and older must be spayed or neutered. If your dog has been exposed to a contagious illness or you suspect that your dog may be ill, please do not bring your pet to daycare until cleared by your Veterinarian. Dogs can be drop off / picked up between the hours of 7am and 11:30am or 1pm and 6pm Monday Friday. The dog s lunch and naptime is between the hours of 11:30am 1pm. The lights will be off and the doors will be locked during this time. Vaccinations Required - Rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus) and Bordetella Most dogs will receive their initial vaccinations as puppies and will require further booster vaccinations through their lifetime. Currently some vaccinations are required every year and others every three years. Please check with your Veterinarian to see when your dog s boosters will be due. The Kennel Cough or Bordetella vaccination is given to dogs that will be in contact with other dogs (grooming, boarding, doggie daycare and dog park). Please confirm that your dog has been vaccinated for Kennel Cough, it is not part of some core vaccination programs. If your dog is not current and needs boosters, vaccinations must be given a minimum of 10 days before evaluation. Some dogs may have reactions and some vaccines have a waiting period before they are effective.

Illnesses At South Paw we try to lower the risk of disease by having an extreme cleaning regimen. Everything the dogs come in contact with is cleaned every day. The floors, the playroom walls, the yard, toys etc. Please remember that some illnesses are highly contagious and no amount of supervision, sanitation, or personal care can guarantee complete prevention. Please do not bring your dog to daycare if you suspect that your dog may be sick. If your dog is diagnosed with a communicable illness and has been attending daycare please let us know so we can advise other pet parents of the possible exposure. We have been blessed by very few occurrences of Kennel cough and Papilloma Virus at South Paw. However, they are easily spread in places where dogs are in contact with other dogs. Please be familiar with Kennel Cough and Canine Papilloma Virus. Kennel Cough A persistent dry cough with a honking sound is the main symptom your dog may have with kennel cough. In many cases, your dog will appear healthy otherwise. If your dog is diagnosed with kennel cough, you will need approval from your veterinarian before returning back to daycare. Keeping current with your dog s vaccinations is important but, the vaccine (just like the human flu vaccine) will not protect against all strains. If your dog is vaccinated, he can still get kennel cough but, the symptoms will likely be less severe. Canine Papilloma Virus AKA Puppy Warts Papilloma are skin growths that are commonly called warts. These growths are caused the canine papilloma virus and can appear in a variety of places on your dog s body especially the face and toes. An infection with this virus doesn t immediately cause the growth of warts. Instead, the virus will incubate for up to two months before anything appears. Canine Papilloma Virus cannot be transmitted to humans.

We suggest that you have your dog examined by your Veterinarian if you feel your dog may have the Papilloma virus however, it usually isn t necessary to treat. The immune system should get the job done as it strengthens. This process won t happen overnight though. Warts can stay on your dog for quite a few months before finally going away. Unsuitable Dogs South Paw does not currently ban any breed from attending daycare however, certain breeds are prone to over excitability and may be offer shorter play periods. Any dog that continues to show over excitability or inappropriate behavior will not be a candidate for daycare. Daycare is a place for dogs that enjoy playing with other dogs. If your dog is needing remedial socialization, daycare will likely be too overwhelming. If your dog has ever fearfully or aggressively bitten and caused injury to a person or animal, daycare is not an appropriate choice for your dog. Dogs that are over 7months of age and not spayed or neutered will not be able to participate in group play Dogs that are positive. or being treated for, intestinal worms or heartworms will not be able to participate in daycare until the dog has been tested negative and cleared by the treating veterinarian. Please understand that not all dogs are suited for daycare. The environment can be overwhelming or over stimulating for some dogs. If we express concern with your dog s behavior or dismiss your dog, we feel it is in the best interest of your dog. We want all dogs to learn positive behaviors and to benefit from their experiences at daycare.

Behavior Policies At daycare we closely monitor interactions between the dogs and staff. If we feel your pet is acting inappropriately we will inform you of the issue. Sometimes we are able to redirect the dog or teach the dog a different response to the situation. If we are unable to correct the issue and it continues, we have the right to excuse the dog from daycare. If a serious incident takes place, the dog may be excused without previous warnings. In the event of undesirable behavior, we will first attempt to retrain the dog s response. We will attempt to redirect or give the dog a short time out if needed. If the behavior continues we may use a squirt bottle or in rare cases a spray collar. Collars / Harnesses All collars and harnesses will be removed to prevent injury to the dogs and to prevent damage. Dogs with diet restrictions should wear quick release daycare collars (supplied by South Paw) to notify staff of limitations. Kennel Time South Paw wishes to limit the amount of time that the dogs are crated. However, to help the daycare run smoothly and to help ensure the safety of the dogs at all times, the below kennel schedule will be followed: Dogs will be crated during nap time / lunch time 11:30am 1pm. This gives the dogs an opportunity to rest and allows the dogs with lunches to quietly eat their meals. Dogs will be crated during clean up time at the end of the day 5:30pm till close. Dogs may be crated temporarily to help with introductions or for a short time out if behavior becomes disruptive. What to Expect after a day of Daycare Most dogs will be tired after a day of daycare. New dogs may experience sore muscles or blistered toes from a lot of running and playing. Due to the nature of doggie daycare, dogs will occasionally come home with scratches or bumps from rough housing and play outdoors. Dogs may also have damp ears or a wet coat from playing with other dogs and outdoor water play.

Reservations Our daycare is limited to 25 dogs and reservations are recommended. Please make advanced arrangements if you are in need of a particular day to ensure availability. Cancelations Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be charged the full fee for the reserved day. Late Pickup Staff goes off duty at 6pm. A fee of $10 will be charged for every 15 minutes the dog stays past closing to help pay for employee overtime. 30 minutes past closing the dog will be kenneled for the evening at the owner s expense. Please feel free to call and check up on your dog at any time (281) 354 7768
