273 CALVES & STIRKS Auctioneer: James Morrish 07814 010133 A fantastic entry of 273 saw a difficult trade being down between 40-80 for the top end calves but strangely the 2 nd quality calves were just a touch stronger than last week. 100 STORE CATTLE 11 am Auctioneer: David Kivell 07899 960272 Numbers tight this week with several vendors waiting for rain! However, the trade remained good with plenty of buyers around the ring. Top price was 1030 for four shapely 15 20 month old single suckled British Blue steers from Messrs Giddy of Saltash. Natives saw another strong trade with dairy x types 770-930 and more could have been sold. Several good shaped Limousin heifers sold well with a top call of 1050 for a 26 month old Limousin from Messrs Barkwell of Hatherleigh who sold others to 1010. Holstein steers saw the trade similar to previous weeks. 15 month old Holsteins from 435 and 20 month old types to 600. More cattle would have sold well today and vendors may be advised to sell more cattle sooner before this dry weather alters the trade for the worst.
