ABOUT THE COURSE Integrate acupuncture into your practice in 2012! Clinical evidence shows that acupuncture can be used alone, or in conjunction with mainstream medicine, to achieve better patient outcomes. Join Drs Ulrike Wurth, Carl Muller, Pam Short, Mark Curtis, Alan Sultan, Ashleigh Hibberd, Joanna Milan, Kim Lim and international guest lecturers in an evidence based and traditional A U S T R A L I A N I V A S Veterinary Acupuncture approach to Small Animal and Equine acupuncture. This experienced team have taught over 300 vets from Australia and South-East Asia and unite to deliver the new online version of the IVAS course. The 8th Australian course is brought to you in association with the Australian Veterinary Acupuncture Group (AVAG) a Special Interest Group of the AVA and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). The online component is hosted by the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies, a nationally Registered Training Organisation. Open to graduate veterinarians of at least two years standing, this structured program will allow you to rapidly integrate acupuncture into your veterinary practice and on completion of all requirements you will receive IVAS Certification CVA (IVAS) and AVA VetEd points. This course is also undergoing accreditation as part of a Post Graduate Degree. Course

TERM 1 T E R M O N E Introduction to Acupuncture January 30 April 2, 2012 Term 1 introduces you to acupuncture, using a neurophysiological approach to explain the mechanisms of acupuncture and the basic concepts Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The residential seminar is a mixture of lectures and practical sessions which teach acupuncture point location and how to treat simple clinical conditions. TERM 2 T E R M T W O Advanced and Clinical Acupuncture I April 23 June 25, 2012 The emphasis here is on diagnosis and treatment of clinical conditions from an acupuncture perspective focusing the musculoskeletal system. The practical sessions include equine and canine point location and treatment of clinical cases. After term 2 you will be able to confidently treat musculoskeletal conditions such as lameness, IVDD, osteoarthritis, paresis and paralysis. Online weekly interactive lectures 1. Clinical Application of Eight Principles 2. Zang Fu Pathology 3. Zang Fu Pathology 4. Combined Zang Fu Pathology 5. Clinical Application of Five Elements 6. Bi Syndrome 7. Wei Syndrome 8. Equine Lameness Residential Seminar and Hands-on Workshop: July 5, 6 & 7, 2012 Three days of lectures, practical sessions and case studies on equine and canine acupuncture and trigger point therapy. Different techniques of stimulating acupuncture points are also covered.

TERM 3 T E R M T H R E E Advanced and Clinical Acupuncture II July 16 September 3, 2012 Building on Term 2, the emphasis is on internal medicine syndromes and acupuncture for canine, equine, feline and bovine cases. The workshop focuses on clinical cases and reinforces clinical acupuncture skills. After term 3 you will be able to confidently treat internal medical conditions and integrate acupuncture with Western medicine. Online weekly interactive lectures 1. Eight Extra Meridians 2.
