Awards Committee Chair: Barbara Molands 1. Publish in the Shiba E News, a list of the new Shiba Inu titleholders, taken from the AKC Gazette Awards book. 2. Ensure the Award Application Form is available to the membership. 3. Prepare Board approved award certificates for all eligible new titleholders 4. Be responsible for delivery of all award certificates to eligible recipients. Constitution & Bylaws NSCA Board of Directors 1. Make an in depth study of the NSCA Constitution & by laws 2. Incorporate SKC required language & terms into proposed revisions 3. Submit proposed by laws to NSCA Membership for approval. Formulate Articles of adoption, responsibilities, duties, rates & submit to the Board for approval. 3. Send additional copies to the Membership Chair to be included with New Member Packet. 4. Records and tracks all litter nominations for the Futurity and Maturity Stakes competition held at the NSCA National Specialty. 2. Collects and records all entry fees for the competition 3. Keep the membership abreast of new health information pertinent to our breed. 3. Conduct surveys of the membership regarding health issues and publish results in the E News. Health OFA Chair: Carl Handy 1. Maintain records on OFA & CERF & ensure these records are published in the Shiba E News. Club Historian: Chair: Joan Morningstar Board Liaison: Lynda Birmantas 1. Catalog, maintain & update official NSCA albums with historical information 2. Display albums at NSCA National Specialties 3. Solicit & take responsibility for artifacts & memorabilia of historical value to the NSCA & the Shiba Inu. Illustrated Standard Committee Chair: Jacey Holden also Board Liaison Committee: Patricia Doescher, Laura Payton, Monica Flynn, Mary Ross 1. Makes recommendations to the board on what type of Illustrated Standard would best suit the breed. 2. Along with the NSCA Board, determines the budget for the project. 3. Secures an artist to design an illustrated standard that can be provided to judges for educational purposes. 4. Write the text to accompany the Illustrated Standard. To serve as a panelist for both judges & open seminars at the National Specialty & to answer questions & present programs of interest on the Shiba Inu 2. To underscore the Standard with words of clarification to be read in conjunction with the Standard. This interpretation will in no way change the Standard, but will designed to
assist the reader who is less familiar with the breed to reach a greater understanding of the Shiba Inu. 3. To ensure Judges Education Presentation materials are delivered to other seminar presenters in a timely manner. Judges Selection Committee Chair: Diana Smiley Member: Lisa Fergus 1. Recommends guidelines for Specialty Judges Selection 2. Conducts Judges Survey 3. Recommends guidelines for Sweepstakes Judge Selection Legislative Liaison: Chair: Chris Wolff Members: Sandra Krupski 1. Act as legislative watchdog by keeping up to date with current activities that may affect the dog fancy. 2. Internet access provides the most efficient means to keep updated. The AKC website as well as several other watchdog websites keep those interested & responsible as liaisons, informed of current issues. 3. Keep the membership informed, via NSCA website & Shiba E News and email, any legislation that could/would involve the dog fancy. Membership Individual Chair: Sue Thomas Co chair: John P. Report monthly to NSCA Officers & Board concerning membership applications. 3. Contact accepted applicants & furnishes with Letter of Welcome, NSCA Handbook, NSCA Breeder Referral Service options. 4. Forward names of applicants/new members to Roster Chairperson & Shiba E News for publication. 5. Breeder Directory maintain & update information. Send updated information to Shiba E News, treasurer, secretary and website. 6. Forward the names of new members interested in volunteering to Volunteer Committee Chair.
Membership Regional Clubs Chair: Patricia Hartman 1. Respond to questions & encourage & aid in the formation of regional specialty clubs 2. Provide information packets in response to inquires 3. Serve as liaison between local clubs & NSCA. 4. Maintain an up to date list of local clubs, including names & addresses of officers. Provide this list to any other committees that may have a need of it & ensure the list is printed in the Shiba E News. National Specialty Chair: Committee: Board Liaison: Jacey Holden 1. Draft guidelines for hosting of National Specialty 2. Responsible for all correspondence & general mailings coordinates with Secretary & Shiba E News. 3. Solicit bids from regional clubs to host the National Specialty & present to the Board. a. Each active local club within the appropriate regional area should be requested to submit a bid. b. Copies of previous bids should accompany the solicitation. Bids are to be presented to the Board at the annual meeting every year, at least 3 years in advance of the application year, to enable the club that is approved to have a two year planning period. 4. The Host club is to complete the AKC Application, furnished by the Secretary. Upon completion, the application is forwarded to the Secretary for signature. The Secretary will advise upon approval. 5. Serve as liaison & advisor to Host Club & Board.
