The state of business travel today 10 surprising ways Uber for Business is changing the way we work (and get to work)

The state of business travel and Uber for Business Business travelers are a busy group. And travel represents a sizable slice of corporate expenses in fact, more than $1.25 trillion was spent on travel in 2015. More than $250 billion of it on ground transportation.1 Business travelers like the convenience of letting someone else drive and companies want to make sure their representatives are comfortable and safe. Clearly, this is no sleepy sector of the economy. As anyone in charge of travel at their company can tell you, the introduction of modern, ondemand ride-hailing services like Uber is disrupting the market. Today, more than half of all corporate ground transportation is spent on Uber and companies like ours. And the trend is growing as much as 40% year-over-year growth since 2014. And it s starting to change the way businesses think about transportation as well. Some call it the consumerization of business. It s your colleague using her smartphone for work emails. It s you taking your laptop home. And it s why employees are telling their companies to use Uber. As recently as March 2017, people were traveling more than 6 million miles a week using Uber for business.2 At first, employees used Uber because it was convenient. A late night at the office? Take an Uber home. Just arrived at the airport in a strange city? Get an Uber. To give businesses more control over how their employees used Uber, we created Uber for Business. Today, more than 65,000 organizations around the world use Uber for Business. More than an app. More than an iconic tech unicorn. More than an easier way to find a ride. Uber is transforming how we get around. But what are the details behind how and why people are using Uber for Business? Read on to discover 10 things we re seeing. 1 Infographic: 2015 Year In Review. Certify.com. https://www.certify. com/infograph-spendsmart-full-year-2015.aspx 2 Uber internal data. Note: All the additional data points are from Uber internal data. If you d like any more information about our data, please contact us.

ONE Your employees want to save the company money You may think employees would opt for higher-end ground transportation options like black cars, but employers will be happy to learn that the reality is most business people choose the opposite. In fact, employees choose UberPOOLour low-cost, shared ride optiontwice as often as they choose a black car. Why is this significant? Because it means that businesses like yours are saving money. Fact: Companies using Uber for Business in the US saw 39% savings on average compared to taxis. Cost of Uber 40% saved Cost of taxi

TWO They re working hard for the money (in Ann Arbor) Uber for Business is a convenient way for employers to give employees a safe option to get home when they have to work late. But you may be surprised to learn where people tend to work the latest. In Paris, the most popular time for employees to catch work-related rides is 8:00 pm. In New York, it s 9 pm. And in London it s 10:00 pm. But in Ann Arbor, employees aren t clocking out until 11:00 pm. Fact: People work later in Ann Arbor than any other U.S. city. Paris 8:00 PM New York 9:00 PM London 10:00 PM Ann Arbor 11:00 PM

THREE They re getting to the airport in a whole new way It used to be that if you were traveling for business, getting to and from the airport was about as easy as shouting across the Grand Canyon. Today, airport rides are the most commonly expensed Uber for Business itemthey account for more than 1 in 5 rides. San Francisco International Airport is the most popular airport, followed by Chicago O Hare, LaGuardia and Mexico City. Fact: Airport travelers are some of Uber s savviest riders. This group of people use Uber for Business Scheduled Rides more than any other. Scheduled rides is a service that allows employees to plan rides in advance. TOP DESTINATIONS 01 San Francisco SFO 02 Chicago ORD 03 New York City LGA 04 Mexico City MEX

FOUR There s a whole lot of business travel going on New York is the world s business hub. Andsurprise, surprisemanhattan is home to the most Uber for Business rides. But businessmen and women are using Uber in all the major global cities like San Francisco, London and São Paulo, which are the next three most-popular places you ll find business travelers using Uber. Fact: Clearly, there s a lot of business travel occurring all over the world. More than half of all rides booked through Uber for Business for travelersin fact, 61%take place outside of the U.S. We re seeing 35% of our business travelers take trips in multiple cities and 10% take Uber across multiple countries. 35% or more business travelers take trips in multiple cities 61% trips take place outside the U.S. 10% business travelers take trips in multiple countries

FIVE The holiday spike is very real December is full of final plans, holiday parties, and the end-of-the-year push to meet business goals. It s also the month employees expense the greatest number of rides using Uber for Business. While there could be a number of reasons for the spike in Uber for business rides in December like sales teams scheduling customer meetings for a healthy Q4 close or consultants wrapping up end-of-year client workwe like to think companies are also using Uber for Business to encourage employees to request company-sponsored rides after having a little end-of-year fun. Fact: Uber provides a safe way to get home after a enjoying a few holiday cocktails. In California, for example, we saw DUIs decrease 5% when Uber became widely available. 5% LESS DUI

SA ev SIX Most travelers are well behaved It s true. While the most common Uber for Business customers tend to come from client-driven industriesthink consultants meeting with executive teams, sales people visiting prospects and customers, or financial advisors meeting with clientsour highest-rated business travelers are military personnel. This isn t surprising since veterans are also some of our highest-rated driver-partners. Fact: Our highest-rated business travelers come from the military, followed by travelers in the consulting and tech industries. hotel Con sultant a startup lab BIG CO.

SEVEN Sunday is a busy day for business travel It stands to reason that if rides to the airport are the most common type of trip on Uber for Business, then many employees are taking these trips on the weekend. In fact, Sunday is the second most-popular day to use Uber. Wouldn t it be great to reward those hard-working people? Because who wants to drive after a long day of travel?! With Uber for Business, organizations can create custom travel policies that allow employees to automatically expense rides according to how admins want them to use an account. Fact: We ve heard many of our customersespecially in banking, consulting, and salessay that their line of work requires a frequent client visits or and visits to satellite offices. This usually means catching a Sunday-evening Uber from the airport so they re ready to go on Monday morning.

EIGHT The commute is starting to look really different Uber is becoming an important part of the daily routine for millions of people. In fact, 10% of all Uber rides are people commuting to and from work. For some, this supplements public transportation, helping employees make that last mile from the train station to their front door. For others, taking shared rides with UberPool provides a more economical, environmentally-friendly alternative to sitting behind the wheel in stressful rush hour traffic. Fact: A recent study from NerdWallet3 in eight major cities found that commuting with UberPool is more cost effective than private car ownership. Public Transportation 3 Uber vs. Driving: The Cheapest Commute in 20 Metros, Nerdwallet. com. https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/insurance/uber-vs-drivingcheapest-commute-in-20-metros/

NINE There s a faster way to get to work As we just told you, 1 out of 10 people use Uber to commute. And while many people rely on options like UberPOOL, we noticed something interesting about people who only commute once in a while. This group is more likely to take a trip going to work in the morning, instead of commuting home in the evening. They re also much more likely to choose a ride that gets them right to their destination like UberX, instead of UberPOOL. It seems people often turn to Uber when they re running a bit late to work, to a meeting, or to catch the train. They know what we know: Traffic, parking, even car trouble can slow you down a lot. Fact: People who commute frequently use UberPOOL to save money, while those who commute less frequently on UberX look to save time. UberX? Pool?

TEN The future of business travel is todayand it s mostly short trips The marriage of travel and technology is changing how we get around for work. Some fortunate people can walk to work. But the average American spends nearly an hour behind the wheel driving to work every day.4 At Uber for Business, our mission is to improve the way businesses manage their travel needs and improve their employees experience. We re thrilled to support the ambitions and innovations of organizations around the world with a better way to manage the transportation needs of the people who matter most to their business: the people who do the work. Fact: The average business ride with Uber is about 6 miles. 6 miles is approximately the average distance of business rides 4 Ingraham, Christopher. The astonishing human potential wasted on commutes. Washington Post. February 25, 2016.
