I can t believe it is October already. The weather is cooling down and signs of fall are everywhere, even in Arizona. Giants around the country are still doing great things. Ty is the number 1 All-breed dog as I write this message. Congratulations to Ty and his great team! We have the Midwest Specialty in about 3 weeks. The Midwest group have been working hard to put together a great time for all. There is a dinner planned, separate grooming for Giants, a judge s seminar by Steve Fox, and hospitality areas. The Midwest group has been doing online auctions to raise money. This is a great thing to do, but it is very important for the buyers to receive their merchandise in a timely manner after paying for their items. Just keep that in mind for future online auctions and fund raising. Most important for this message is the first E-ballot votes are in and it was a success! The two changes have been passed by a large majority. Thank you all. Dues is due by January 1 st 2018 and after January 31 st is considered lapsed. This was a recommendation by AKC, the Constitution revision committee, and the board. The Selection of judges by-law has also been changed to be less cumbersome. We are currently awaiting the results so we can contact the potential judge for 2019. A list of the nominees will be posted once we receive them so members can see which of the eligible judges were nominated. This has been explained many times since E-balloting was originally voted on but I will explain this once again. For a two member household that wishes to participate in E-balloting, EACH member must have a separate email address. IF only one member has an email address, then the other member needs to receive a snail mail ballot. This is only logical, as if both votes go to one email, who is to know if each member is voting or just one member for both people. Now that we have the E-balloting up and running, watch for more E-ballots for the Constitution and By-Law changes that have been recommended by the Constitution Review Committee. The Board is working on some exciting things for the end of the year. First, we are reviewing an updated Versatility Award program that includes many of the new titles and certificates offered by AKC. The new program will recognize Rally, Scent Work, Barn Hunt, Dock Diving, Trick dog, Carting, and IPO. There will be a Versatility Elite award. We hope to recognize all the things people do with their dogs and encourage everyone to do something with their Giants. Carting and IPO have been included since these are some of the original things that our dogs are known for. The Board has voted on a Register of Merit to recognize Bitches and Dogs that produce healthy, champion offspring. The application will be on the Website under awards. There will also be a Versatility Register of Merit to recognize Bitches and Dogs that produce healthy performance dogs. We are also looking at reducing the cost to advertise in Steps. Right now, it very expensive for a one page ad. We hope to make it more affordable to everyone so more can showcase their dogs. If enough people place ads, maybe we can get Steps back to the judges as we did years ago. Right now, it is cost prohibitive to print more than we need. Have a great fall! I hope to see you at one of the upcoming shows! Kim

The standing rule change about judges simplifies the process of judges selection.
