Welcome to the Carolina Australian Shepherd Club s ASCA Agility Trial! We hope to make this an annual event in South Carolina; your support is appreciated! Why is CASC holding events in South Carolina? We are an ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) affiliated club that has been in existence since 1977. We were formed as a club with members in both North and South Carolina, and had a strong hold in both states. Who are we? We are a group of individuals, mostly living in North & South Carolina, and the Virginia region, dedicated to the preservation, dedication, education, and well-being of the Australian Shepherd dog. What do we do? We have club meetings four times a year; we also support obedience, rally, herding, tracking events which are open to all breeds and mixes, as well as ASCA Australian Shepherd only conformation. We offer workshops, seminars and sanctioned trials and shows. We are hoping to take advantage of our dual state affiliation and offer a variety of ASCA programs to South Carolina, as it has been years since we have shown south of the border. When we started looking for an area to hold events, Myrtle Beach seemed like a good place to announce ourselves to SC. This time of year, dogs are allowed on the beach (leashed), the weather is much nicer (for the dogs!), and rates are at their best! We invite you to join us as a club, or join us for our events! Check out our website for more ASCA fun - www.casclub.com ASCA agility is open to all dogs - purebred and mixes. Courses are generally fast and flowing. An ASCA registration number or tracking number is not required to enter the trial. If you would like ASCA to track your qualifying legs to earn title certificates, then your dog must have an ASCA registration number (Aussies) or a Tracking number. Tracking numbers may be applied for at the time of entry; tracking number application is included in this premium. REGULAR CLASSES: Classes consist of Regular (jumps, weaves, tunnels, contacts), Jumpers (jumps & tunnels only), and Gamblers (tradition style - all obstacles with a gamble following the opening sequence). Regular, Veteran, Jr. Handler, and FEO divisions are offered; Novice, Open, Elite, and Pre-Novice are the levels. NON-REGULAR CLASSES: Non-regular classes are open to dogs 12 months and older. Nonregular classes do not count towards any titles or qualifications. Pre-Novice is a course, similar to the standard course, run without the teeter or weave poles. Dogs 18 months must jump at least 4 lower than their regular jump height. Pre-Novice class will be held after the second round of Novice Regular both days. If you have no ASCA agility titles, you may enter at Novice or a higher level, although any qualifying scores will be applied to the lower title requirements. For example, if you run in Open classes, earning 30 points, they would be used towards your Novice level title. Once a dog qualifies at the higher level, they cannot return to a lower level class. ASCA allows for reasonable training in the ring, however you will receive an elimination. Collars, leashes and toys/food are not allowed in the ring. Titles may be earned in regular classes with 30 points. A clean run is 10 points; a faulted run (over time/knocked bar) is awarded 5 points. Gamblers and Jumpers require 20 points (2 clean runs) for a title. You can remain at the same level after completing a title, working towards Outstanding or Superior titles, or you can move up to the next level.
