To: Moorhead Airport Committee Subject: Moorhead Airport Updates Date: June 17, 2015 Prepared By: Kristie Leshovsky, City Planner and Zoning Administrator Kim Citrowske, Assistant City Planner AIRPORT COMMITTEE UPDATES PROPOSED 2015 PROJECTS UPDATES Hangar Construction Project Bid opening for the two 78x72 foot hangars was on June 11. One bid was received at $720,072.00. This bid is $190,665 over the Engineer s Estimate and over the available budget. Following the bid opening, the Airport Engineer and staff contacted the FAA to determine whether an extension would be granted to allow for rebidding of the project. The FAA rejected the extension request. Options for discussion and consideration: 1. Rebid for one 78x72 hangar for 2016 construction. a. Leaves two available spots open for private development south of the taxiway. b. May not result in acceptable bid price (ie: too high for single hangar). c. Construction in 2016. 2. Rebid for two 78x72 hangars for 2016 construction. a. Leaves one available spot open for private development south of the taxiway. b. May not result in acceptable bid price (ie: too high). c. Construction in 2016. 3. Do not pursue rebid of single hangar(s). a. Leaves 3-4 spots open for private development south of the taxiway (number of hangars would depend on size of hangars). b. Pursue 2016 funding for Hangar Development ALP update to review hangar construction areas and options. c. Unknown future hangar construction timeline. As noted in previous correspondence to the Airport Committee, the hangar size (78x72 ) was chosen to accommodate larger aircraft, such as a King Air 200, in order to provide a unique, publically leasable space at the airport. Pavement Rehabilitation Project The grant request for this project has been submitted to MnDOT Aeronautics whose fiscal calendar year is July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016. We are awaiting word on whether there will be available MnDOT grant funds within the noted calendar for this project.

2015 FLY IN The 2015 Fly-In event is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2015 with similar activities planned as last year. A float with an airplane is planned to advertise the Fly-In in the Greater Moorhead Days parade. The Greater Moorhead Days media sponsor/radio vehicle is anticipated to be present at the Fly In to advertise. The draft flyer is attached for review and comment.
