JUDGES PROFILE Mr Richard Grimmett (Tafuta) I have lived with dogs and been associated with showing most of my life. We had our first family pet in 1983 a working Golden Retriever called Honey. We mated Honey to a show dog and kept a puppy, a dog called Bracken deciding to show him. He gave me my first showing experiences in the Junior Handling classes. In 1987 Sasha, the family's first pure show dog joined us and she gave us a dog and a bitch, Tanya and Sammy. Tanya was the first dog that I showed in breed classes as well as training her to work to the gun, unfortunately she died at the age of 5 due to a reaction to an anaesthetic. This was very upsetting for me and didn't have a dog of my own again for some time. In the intervening years I still trained my parents dogs and started occasionally showing my partners Dalmatians. In 2007 Poppy joined our family, she has in many ways been my dog in a million, gaining multiple CCs and also working to the gun with some success and gaining her S.G.W.C. making her a full Champion. In addition to Poppy, I have also shown, Milli Poppy's sister and Flash Milli's son. At present I also have a young puppy. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is

on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. No modifications will be made to the schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine press wherever possible. 20. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 21. CLOSE OF ENTRIES: Saturday, 6th October 2018 (postmark), but must be in the hands of Hon. Show Secretary by Monday, 8th October 2018. 22. MEMBERS are those persons either a) who have renewed their subscriptions for the current year; or b) whose application for membership has been submitted to the Executive Committee and have been notified as approved prior to the closing date of entries. 23. No exhibitors passes will be sent. 24. A dog must, at the time of entry for the Show, be registered as required by Kennel Club Rules & Regulations in the exhibitor's name (or registration or transfer applied for). In the case of joint registered owners the full name of every registered owner must be given. Where an owner makes an entry on behalf of another joint registered owner(s) or where an agent enters on behalf of a single or joint registered owner(s) such person must have the authority and consent from the single or joint registered owner(s) to sign the entry form on their behalf thereby binding them all to such authority and consent will be required. A dog acquired subsequent to entry having been made at a Show may be exhibited by the new owner as the new owner's property provided that an application for the transfer has been forwarded to the Kennel Club before the Show, and the new owner has undertaken to abide by the Regulation and conditions of the original entry form (and accordance with the conditions set out above). 25. Separate entry forms must be completed by each exhibitor and must be signed by the exhibitor or his authorised agent in accordance with the provisions specified thereon. Entry forms must be accompanied by the appropriate fees. 26. No animal other than an exhibit shall be brought into the precincts of the Show during its continuance, except a registered guide dog for the blind or hearing dog for the deaf, or dogs for educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee. 27. Exclusion of Dogs. If in the opinion of the Show Manager or Judge any dog is considered not in a fit state for exhibition owing to disease, savage disposition, or any other cause, the dog may be

excluded or removed from the Show on the instruction of the Show Management. Once excluded or removed from the Show the dog must not be brought into the Show at any time under any circumstances and the case must be reported in full to the Kennel Club within seven days. 28. No dogs suffering from any infections or contagious disease or having been exposed to such disease during the period of 21 days prior to the Show may be exhibited. Exhibitors infringing this Regulation will be liable to be fined and/or to be dealt with under Kennel Club Rule 42. 29. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during te set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 30. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees. 31. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 32. Safety Officer: A Safety Officer will be in attendance throughout the show. Exhibitors, Competitiors and Spectators are reminded that just as Southern Golden Retriever Society has a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of all those attending their event, all those present have a duty and responsibility for their own safety. They are therefore expected to take the greatest of care to avoid uneven sufaces and other hazards which are inevitable and integral element of a dog show. Those bringing and using portable items such as folding chairs, trolleys, cages and grooming equipment have a responsibility to ensure that their tools, equipment and collapsible furniture is used and erected safely and does not constitute a hazard to others. Exhibitors are also reminded that they should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the prevailing conditions on the site. Exhibitors show and competitors compete at their own risk if conditions are not ideal. The Safety Officer and committee members of the SGRS will be patrolling all areas of the show and car park throughout the show. 33. The Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any dog, person or property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatever, or from any act or omission of itself, agents, servants or others or the damage done by the exhibitor to any person or property. 34. Parents will be held responsible for any damage to property caused by their children within the environs of the show. 35. In the event that the show is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the club/society will refund fees, less reasonably incurred expenses, on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope submitted within one month of the show date.
