JUNIOR POULTRY Cash Awards Offered by the Sonoma County Fair $10,228.00 Judge: Eric Kutch - Jamestown, CA Entries Close: Arrival Time: Entry Fee: Limit: Orientation: Judging Time: Exhibitors Meeting: Departure Time: Saturday, June 30, 11:59 p.m. Monday, August 6, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. All birds must be examined by Poultry Health Inspector prior to cooping in $2.00 per entry, per class Four entries per exhibitor, per variety, per class Monday, August 6, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 9:00 a.m. Showmanship: Primary followed by FFA, followed by 4-H (youngest to oldest), followed by classes Wednesday, August 8, 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Rules 1. Junior exhibitors are expected to care/feed/water their own animals. Feeding and watering must be completed by 9:00 a.m. daily and as needed. No adults will be allowed to tend or handle the animals. 2. Animals must be owned by exhibitor and cannot leave the building. 3. Exhibitors must check in and care for their own animals. Parents are not permitted to care for animals in place of the exhibitor. 4. Cock, Hen, Old Drake, Old Duck, Old Gander, Old Goose are open to birds one year and older. Younger birds should be entered in the other classes for under one year. 5. Carrying cages may be stored under cages as long as they are out of view. 6. Substitutions can only be made within a division. Substitutions must be made when the exhibit arrives at the fairgrounds. A minimum $20 penalty must be paid prior to judging for each substitution made by the exhibitor in excess of two in the division. 7. All birds must arrive washed. 8. STATE RULE: No exhibitor shall receive more than 2 cash awards in any one class. 9. Exhibitors will be expected to sign-up and complete a two-hour "barn duty" shift. 219

Only marketable eggs will be counted and in case of a tie the eggs grading highest will be placed first (no broken, eaten eggs, etc.). G. Soft-shelled eggs will not be counted. H. The management will keep eggs laid during the contest. I. If there are less than three entries the class will be cancelled. J. All chickens will be marked by Fair staff upon leaving the fair.
