DEPT 107 - JR POULTRY Superintendent - Mary Lynn Prost JUDGING: Thursday 9:00am - Jr. Class (Eggs, Showmanship, Poultry). Open Class will follow Junior Class Exhibitor must be present for Junior Class Judging All poultry and eggs must be brought in Monday 5:00-8:00pm or Tuesday 8am - NOON Exhibitors must show their entry by bringing it to the judging area when the division is called. All individual tested poultry must have leg band identification to match PT documentation. Duplicate documentation for pullorum - typhoid must be presented at check-in. Any bird showing signs of specific disease or external parasites (mites, lice etc. ) upon check-in must be immediately removed from the exhibit area. All poultry must be on exhibit all days of Fair. An exhibitor may enter no more than 20 birds, and the same bird may not be entered in both junior and open divisions. A fee of $0.75 per animal must be included with entry. Champion ribbons given in divisions of 6 or more, or at the discretion of the judge. Trophies for Best of Show and Reserve of Show are donated. Reference the APA Standard of Perfection when making entries. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding, watering, and cleaning cages of poultry daily. All junior class exhibitors are required to do at least (1) shift of barn sitting. Failure to follow any of the above rules may result in disqualification and/or loss of premiums. DIVISION K - Non Animal Educational Exhibits Judged on Monday from 12:00-6:00pm in the Ziegler Building 1. Educational poster 2. Any educational display for care of poultry 3. Exhibit relating to poultry products (meat, eggs, etc. ) 8. Any other educational exhibit not listed DIVISION L - Rate of Gain Contest Exhibitors must sign-up to receive chicks at the county 4-H poultry project meeting in April, or contact the Superintendent before April 1st. Chicks will be delivered in May, and must be raised by the exhibitor until the Fair. Birds must be lean, fully feathered, and able to stand on both legs. The heaviest male and heaviest female birds meeting the above qualifications will win. Each exhibitor may only make one entry. Class No. No Premiums Awarded 1. Exhibitors must collect the eggs themselves from their own adult birds, not simply purchase hatching eggs from another breeder. There are no age restrictions on the birds entered (they can be hatched before January 1st). Each exhibitor will show their best home-bred bird(s) following the conclusion of best in show judging to compete for Best Home-Bred and Raised. A separate form must be submitted by noon on Tuesday of check-in to the home-bred and raised coordinator in order to participate, contact the superintendent for more information.
