POULTRY DEPARTMENT 09 Monroe County Fair Open Poultry Show Friday August 4 th, 2017 at 12:30pm Please note: there will NOT be a pullorum testing clinic at the fair! Per state vet request, birds must be tested at a clinic prior to arriving at the fairgrounds. Rules & Regulations The fair has a new location at 6565 East River Rd, Rush, NY 14543 (easy access from Rts 90 & 390) Please review General Rules for Exhibitors, where there is also superintendent contact information. Competition is open to all. Multiple entries accepted. No exhibitors shall receive more than two premiums for any one class. Entry fee is $1.00 per class for singles, $1.25 for trios and sections Q & R, and $2.00 for the crowing contest if the bird is not entered in another class, due by 7/31. No entry fee for Monroe County youth. Entry fee includes feed provided by the fair for the birds while they are on the grounds. Late entries subject to a late fee of $10 per exhibitor. No refunds, day-of-show substitutions are allowed. Mail entry forms & entry fee check to Monroe County Fair, 20 Office Park Way Suite 131 Pittsford, NY 14534. All poultry, except waterfowl, shall present proof of having originated from U.S. Pullorum-clean flocks or of having tested negative for Pullorum-Typhoid within 90 days of the fair. In order to have your flock tested, please contact NYS Dept of Agriculture & Markets, 10-B Airline Dr, Albany, NY 12235, phone 518-457-5558. It is recommended that all birds be vaccinated against Infectious Laryngotracheitis, Newcastle, and Bronchitis at least one month before the fair. No bird will be allowed to stay at fairgrounds without passing a health check. The fair association will not be responsible for any loss that may occur but the greatest care will be exercised in guarding the health of the birds. No one other than owner or show management will be permitted to open any coop or to handle any bird without permission of the superintendent. Exhibitors can bring birds to the fair Friday 8/4 from 9am-11am. Birds will be released Sunday 8/6 at 6pm. Poultry area must be ready for inspection by 10am every day. This show is governed by the rules of the American Poultry Association unless otherwise specified. A cock or hen shall be a bird one year old or more. Cockerel or pullet shall be under one year old. Exhibitors from one family cannot enter more than 20 varieties in Large Fancy Poultry or Bantams. The Rooster Crowing Contest will be held two times a day on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Any special cases not covered by the rules will be acted upon by the superintendent. Egg Class SECTION R: Rooster Crowing Contest All breeds, mixed breeds, and varieties of poultry are eligible for the crowing contest. Crows will be counted twice a day on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday at 11:30am and 4:30pm. The total number of crows over the three days will determine winners of the crowing contest, based solely on the number of crows recorded during the specified periods and not the volume, tone or musical quality. The crow count will be tallied on a public display over course of the contest. The male having the most crows recorded to his credit at the end of the fair will be declared Champion. Any ties will be Crowed Off by rules set up by the superintendent. Assistants will be assigned to record the number of crows during the specified time. Roosters will be penned in individual coops and exhibitors may use any method to get their rooster to crow without touching the bird or cage. SECTION S: Pets 1.
