THE LAST GREAT RACE ON EARTH When 14-year-old Ally was little, she received a stuffed toy dog that she lovingly named Balto, after the brave Siberian husky sled dog that raced across the frozen arctic terrain in 1925, bringing medicine to sick settlers. Her fascination for mushing was born. When Ally was given the opportunity to make a wish, she excitedly said she wanted to participate in the Iditarod! She was inspired by the mushers. Just like the men and women who race through ice and snow, Ally knew that despite being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, she could overcome any odds. When it came time for her to race across the chilly tundra, she bundled up and climbed in the sled for the ceremonial start. A loud bang filled the air, and the mushers were off! The cold wind bit Ally s nose and ears, turning them frosty pink. As snow flurried and huskies barked in the bitter cold, Ally threw dog booties filled with candy to the cheering onlookers. It all whizzed by like a dream. Now, Ally is back home but her dog mushing days have only just begun! She s already learning how to take care of sled dogs, and hopes one day to race them. One thing s for sure: this girl is in for one wild adventure after another. Ally, 14 cystic fibrosis I wish to mush in the Iditarod

Wonderful, amazing and incredible are just a few words we would use to define our interactions with Make-A-Wish Utah. Dealing with a life-threatening illness in your family can be very scary, daunting, stressful and many times lonely. To have an organization of people who step in and go from complete strangers to such sincere, loving and reliable friends is absolutely life changing. - Isaac s mom Above: Isaac age 3, neurological condition, I wish to have a puppy Right: Isabella age 3, severe aplastic anemia, I wish to go to the Florida theme parks Below: Zackery age 4, heart transplant, I wish to have a military playset
