CONFORMATION CLASSIFICATIONS REGULAR CONFORMATION CLASSES The following CKC classes, divided by sex will be provided: Junior Puppy - for dogs 6 months of age but under 9 months of age Senior Puppy - for dogs 9 months of age but under 12 months of age 12-18 Months - for dogs 12 months of age but under 18 months of age Canadian Bred - for dogs born in Canada; champions in any country excluded Bred By Exhibitor - for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder for this class, but need not handle the dog for further awards Open - for all dogs Veteran 7 to 9 - for dogs 7 years of age but under 9 years of age Veteran 9 to 11 - for dogs 9 years of age but under 11 years of age Veteran 11 plus - for dogs 11 years or older NOTE: Veteran class dogs do not compete for winners, but shall compete for Best of Breed. Dogs competing in veteran classes may be spayed or neutered. Specials Only - for dogs that are registered individually, in the records of the Canadian Kennel Club or have a CKC ERN number and have attained Championship status. The entry of a 'listed' dog is not allowed. SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASSES Eligibility for the Altered Classes shall be limited to dogs over 6 months of age that have been spayed or neutered. Points MAY NOT be carried from regular competition judging to the Altered Class judging. These classes will be judged immediately after Best of Breed in the regular classes. Two classes will be offered: Altered Male and Altered Female. Classes will be placed first through fourth in both sexes; the first place winner from each class will be declared Winners, and the second place winner will be declared Reserve Winners. The Altered Winners Male and the Altered Winners Female will then compete for Best of Breed Altered and Best of Opposite Sex Altered in breed. NON-REGULAR AND UNOFFICIAL CONFORMATION CLASSES Baby Puppy - for dogs 3 to 6 months old Exhibition Only - dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-regular classes (Dogs must also be entered in a regular class or for exhibition only). Stud Dog & Get - Stud dog and two or more of his get, not necessarily owned by the same owner. Brood Bitch & Progeny - Brood Bitch and two or more of her progeny, not necessarily owned by the same owner. Brace - Two dogs of the same breed, not necessarily of the same sex or owner. Must be handled by one person on one lead Field Dog - Has a CKC WCX, one SH leg, MH title or a CKC sanctioned field trial placement. Class divided by sex. Working Dog - Has a CKC WC, WCI or JH title. Class divided by sex. Note: Dogs entered in Non-Regular and Unofficial Classes may be spayed or neutered.
OBEDIENCE CLASSIFICATIONS REGULAR OBEDIENCE CLASSES Novice A & B, Open A & B, Utility A & B (Pre-Novice, Novice C and Novice Intermediate) SEPARATE ENTRIES ARE REQUIRED FOR EACH CLASS ENTERED State Jump Heights Pre-Novice - for all dogs over 6 months of age. Not eligible for HIT Competition. Novice A - for dogs handled by owner or immediate family member through all exercises. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX title shall be eligible to enter this class. Novice B - dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. More than one dog may be entered in this class by any one person or owner. Novice C - for dogs who have completed a CKC CD title Not eligible for HIT competition. Novice Intermediate - for dogs who have earned a CD title in Canada. Not eligible for HIT Competition. Open HA and Open 18A - for dogs that have completed a CKC CD title but have not earned the title of CDX (Companion Dog Excellent). Must be handled by owner or immediate family member. Only one dog per handler is allowed in this class, that person must handle the dog in all exercises. No professional trainer or person who has obtained a UD title shall be allowed to handle a dog in this class. Open HB and Open18B - for dogs that have completed a CKC CD title. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. More than one dog may be entered in this class by any one person or owner. Open A & B have two options (H and 18). Exhibitors must indicate on the entry form which option they choose when they complete the entry form. See CKC Obedience Rule book for details. Utility A - for dogs who have earned a CKC CDX title but not a CKC UD. Utility B - for dogs who have earned a CKC CDX title or UD in Canada Exhibition Only - for dogs 6 months & over, not in competition UNOFFICIAL OBEDIENCE CLASSES Brace is open to any two dogs of the same breed and of either sex, which have attained not less than a CD title in Canada. The same person need not own both dogs. The exercises shall be performed as in the Novice Class. Dogs entered in the Brace Class may be entered in any regular class or for Exhibition Only Veteran Class for all dogs that have an obedience title and are 7 years old prior to the day of the trial. The exercises shall be performed as in the Novice Class. Dogs entered in the Veteran Class may be entered in any regular class or for Exhibition Only. RALLY OBEDIENCE CLASSES Exhibitors entering both Obedience and Rally must fill out separate entry forms Novice A - For dogs that have not earned the RN title or a CD or higher and is handled by the owner or immediate family member. Novice B - For any dog until such time as a qualifying score in Advanced is earned. Intermediate - For dogs that have earned a RN title. Advanced A - For dogs that have earned the RN title but not earned the RA title and is handled by the owner or immediate family member. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX title shall be eligible to enter this class. Advanced B - For any dog that has earned the RA title or any handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX title. Excellent A - for dogs that have earned the RA title but not earned the RE title and is handled by the owner or immediate family member. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX title shall be eligible to enter this class. Excellent B - For any dog that has earned the RA title or any handler that has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX title. MASTERS This class will be for dogs that have earned RE title. A dog completing the RM title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person can enter more than one dog in this class. All dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A Bitch in season may not compete in Obedience or Rally Trials.
SWEEPSTAKES Juvenile Sweepstake entrants must be entered in the Regular classes. Veteran Sweepstake entrants may be entered in a Regular class, an Altered class or For Exhibition Only. Spayed and neutered veterans may compete. Juvenile Sweepstakes: Classes will be divided by sex & age as follows: 6 to 9 months 9 to 12 months 12 to 18 months Veteran Sweepstakes: Classes will be divided by sex & age as follows: 7 to 9 years 9 to 11 years 11 years and over JUVENILE & VETERAN SWEEPSTAKE AWARDS Monies collected FOR JUST JUVENILE and then those collected FOR JUST VETERAN will be awarded within THAT SWEEPSTAKE CATEGORY in the following manner: BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES Rosette & 15% of total fees collected BEST OF OPPOSITE Rosette & 10% of total fees collected FIRST IN EACH CLASS Rosette & 8% of total fees collected SECOND FOURTH Rosette offered for each class 25% retained by club to defray costs The winner from each of the above classes will compete for Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex. A trophy will be offered for Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex. Rosettes will be offered for 1st to 4th place in each class. Be proud of your own dog - show it off in Sweepstakes! The FCRSC Juvenile and Veteran Sweepstake events provide a great opportunity for owners and breeders to showcase the potential of their young dogs and the longevity and soundness of their veteran dogs. The FCRSC strongly encourages all owners to handle their own puppies and veterans in sweepstakes, whenever possible. If you are physically unable to show your own dog on the move, you may bring a "runner" into the ring to move the dog for you. Dogs handled by the juniors must be entered in a Class or For Exhibition Only at the FCRSC show or trials. Dogs need not be owned by the junior. THE CLASSES WILL BE DIVIDED AS FOLLOWS: JUNIOR NOVICE 7 TO 10 JUNIOR OPEN 7 TO 10 INTERMEDIATE NOVICE 11 TO 14 INTERMEDIATE OPEN 11 TO 14 SENIOR NOVICE 15 TO 17 SENIOR OPEN 15 TO 17 PEE WEE 4 TO 6 non-competitive, and do not compete for overall Rosettes or ribbons & prizes will be presented to BEST JUNIOR HANDLER and 1st to 4th placements in each class The Flat-Coated Retriever Society of Canada is sponsoring boosters in conformation and obedience on Thursday August 9 th and Friday August 10 th. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS A dog awarded WINNERS at a conformation show shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5) and the number of championship points credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder. Dogs competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points allocated 0 1 2 3 4 5 *Includes the dog awarded Winners. In counting the eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Additional Championship points may be attainable at the group level. See the CKC dog Show Rules for Details. Please be aware that all dogs must have a valid rabies certificate to cross the border. NOTE: Dogs less than three months of age do not require rabies vaccination EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER FOR FOREIGN DOGS Effective Jan/1992 all dogs that are foreign-born and foreign-owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC events will no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an ERN - Event Registration Number. This ERN does not register a dog for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act but rather enables a foreign-owned dog to be awarded titles by the Canadian Kennel Club. Each dog must have its own number. To obtain an ERN, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog's registration certificate with certified cheque, money order, VISA or MasterCard number (expiry date, cardholder's name and signature). Provide your complete address for return of the ERN to you. ERN, AT THE LATEST, MUST BE APPLIED FOR WITHIN 30 DAYS OF FIRST DAY OF ENTERING A CKC EVENT. A CKC ERN registration form can be downloaded from the CKC website: http://www.ckc.ca ATTENTION ALL CANADIANS WHO ARE NOT CKC MEMBERS Effective January 1, 2011, the CKC has instituted an annual Non-Member Participation Fee for awards and titles for a CANADIAN non-member of the CKC. These fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by a non-ckc member and are not applicable to CKC members. Non CKC member participants must either purchase a CKC membership or pay the non-member participation fee within 30 days of notification or the CKC will cancel any awards and titles. More information, and application forms can be downloaded from the CKC website: http://www.ckc.ca A judge, club official, volunteer, or any participant at this event must not be subjected to indignities. The Conformation Show Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred.
