Rates: $129 single/double occupancy; $75 nonrefundable pet fee 3 dogs, $25 each additional dog. Reservation deadline is September 11, 2018. Check-in time is 4 PM and check out time is 11 AM. Cancellation must be made 7 days before the scheduled arrival date or 1 night will be charged. HOTEL AND GROUND RULES Everyone must comply with the request that ALL DOGS must be crated at all times when not under the direct supervision of a wide awake, responsible adult person. This is for your protection, for the protection of the dog, and the Hotel's protection. Please cover furnishings and bed with your OWN SHEETS and TOWELS if dogs will get on the furniture. No bathing of dogs. If feet need touch-up, use your OWN TOWELS. CLEAN HAIR FROM SINKS AND TUBS. NO WET DOGS ON THE FURNITURE. Bring with you the necessary equipment for immediate clean-up -- plenty of baggies, paper towels, sponge, pooper-scooper, trash bags, etc. Inform hotel of any serious damage to your room. This is your responsibility. Report barking dogs, catch any running loose, carry extra baggies, etc. for emergencies and a helping hand. Pick up all litter -- including paper cups, cigarette butts, soft drink cans -- and place them in a trash bag. Future Shows at this site/hotel depend on how well you control your dog, your children, and yourself. Please make this one a success and future shows a possibility. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS For more information and late-breaking news, go to our website, www.ckcsc.org, or the event specific Facebook page, CKCSC USA 2018 National Specialty! Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in the Ballroom on Saturday, 30 minutes after Best In Show or at 5:00pm, whichever is later. Award of Merit (AOM) winners will receive the maximum number of allowed class points, if they have not otherwise earned them. If you placed in your class, remember to stay ringside. The dog placing next in the class behind the first AOM award winner is called in to compete for the second AOM. Veteran Sweepstakes takes place on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Bronze (7 but not yet 9 years), Silver (9 but not yet 11 years), and Gold (11 years and over) classes are offered for both dogs and bitches. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners. Please make a note of the earlier start time! Puppy Sweepstakes takes place on Thursday afternoon. Junior, Senior, and Graduate Puppy classes are offered for both dogs and bitches. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners. Top 20 Gala includes a light buffet. Cost to attend the event is $40. Cost for qualifiers to enter the event is $50 and includes a personalized rosette and one meal. The grooming area is in the Sweetbay room. Table judging of the Top 20 competitors will take place at 3 pm in the Ballroom. (Note the ealier start time.) Judging is simultaneous with one station per Judge. Each Judge evaluates dogs at their station until they have completed this judging stage for all dogs entered. While anyone is welcome to watch the initial judging, the formal gala evening event requiring admission starts at 6:00 in the Mountain Creek Inn Ballroom with the light buffet. For more details about the evening and the judging procedures, see the Top 20 Gala information on the Club s website. (Select Events General Top 20 Gala.) Annual Banquet, Special Awards & Live Auction on Saturday night is a lively evening and a great way to make new friends and catch up with old ones. Applaud the people receiving special awards from the President of the Club and the volunteers who so generously give their time and expertise to the Club. The banquet is $50. Heart and Eye Clinics are offered on Saturday starting at 10 am. The fee for each clinic is $45 per dog. The Heart Clinic will be conducted by Dr. Sonya Gordon. The original artwork will be available for purchase at the Live Auction at the Saturday night Annual Banquet. Teri has also produced 50 prints that will be available for purchase at the show. Entries will be accepted via email and fax in addition to postal mail. Please read the full instructions carefully. The Summary of Amounts Due, Show Entry, and Supplemental Entry forms are available as fillable forms on the website. Credit Cards will be accepted as payment for entries in addition to checks. CONTRIBUTION OPPORTUNITIES Whether or not you are joining us for the weekend, you can be a part of the festivities and have your name printed in the catalog by making a donation to the show. No contribution is too large or too small. We have four opportunities to help your Club host our annual show weekend. National Specialty Fund Raiser using Sign-Up Genius has 5 categories for sponsorships and there are still Classes and Events available to sponsor. You can donate directly from the National Specialty event page on the Club s website by clicking the DONATE button in the Additional Information section. There is one tab for each category. The website will close at midnight EDT on September 15. After that date, you can participate using the Summary of Amounts Due. Traditional Class Sponsorships are $10.00 per class and help defray the costs of the lovely prizes awarded in each class. Sponsor names are printed in the Catalog. Catalog Ads are $25 for a full page black and white and $50 for a full page color ad. All ads are also included on the Welcome page in the show app, managed by John Goodwin. Ads must be in a jpg or pdf format, preferably copy ready, and sent via e-mail or CD. CKCSC-USA TRICK DOG TITLES Effective 1/1/18, the CKCSC is happy to announce offering official titles for Trick Dogs to be listed on the dog s title record. Dogs must have CKCSC-USA Registration Number or a CKCSC-USA Performance Event number and the owner and handler must be a member in good standing with the CKCSC-USA to earn a title. There are four levels of Trick Dog titles Novice (C-TKN), Intermediate (C-TKI), Advanced (C-TKA), and Performer (C-TKP). Kristine Schmidt will give a demonstration of Trick Dog skills on Friday afternoon just prior to Best In Show. As of 1/1/18, the CKCSC, USA, Points System has been updated to allow a 2 point major to count towards earning a CKCSC, USA, Championship. Also, for all clubs except Cavaliers of the West, the total number of dogs needed to award 2 class points for a class of 4 or more was reduced by 10 to 50 and 1 class point will be awarded when there are 3 dogs competing and more than 40 total dogs are entered. The COTW points schedule remains the same. NEW ELIGIBILITY FOR BEST PUPPY DOG/BITCH!!! As of the COS/CNE March 2018 Show, the criteria for Best Puppy Dog/Bitch has changed and is no longer limited to the winners of the Junior and Senior Puppy classes. Any puppy under 12 months of age that was not defeated by another puppy under 12 months of age is eligible to compete for Best Puppy, regardless of the class in which the puppy competed. Class points for Best Puppy Dog/Bitch are awarded based on the total number of dogs defeated by the winner in the classes represented by the puppies competing for Best Puppy Dog/Bitch. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS SPECIAL CLASSES! Second Generation American Bred Classes are offered only for the Trudy Brown Memorial Rally, the National Specialty, and the Elizabeth I. Spalding Memorial Show! Review Class Definitions for eligibility criteria. SPECIAL COMPETITIONS! Top Twenty Gala is a competition of the year s most successful CKCSC, USA, conformation cavaliers. They have been formally invited to enter and participate in a competition that will be judged by three judges from three different categories- 1) licensed Cavalier Breeder Judge; 2) CKCSC, USA, Breeder with an in-depth knowledge of the breed; and 3) a licensed all-breed judge, not a breeder or owner of Cavaliers. The Mystery Judges will be kept secret until they are announced in the afternoon just prior to the start of Puppy Sweepstakes. The Gala is hosted by a DJ and finalists will enter to their chosen theme song. Admission is $40 and includes a light buffet. People s Choice Award is determined by the spectators at the Top Twenty Gala from the dogs entered. Spectators can complete a ballot for their favorite at the end of the evening. The ballots will be tallied and the winner announced at the banquet on Saturday evening. SPECIAL SEMINARS! Helping with Whelping and Aftercare will be conducted by Karen Cusick. She will provide a comprehensive overview of how a well informed and prepared breeder/owner can have the tools to improve the outcome of new born pups through tried and true methods proven to help puppies survive. This one (1) High in Trial award is in addition to any obtained before or during the 60 day period after receiving the CD title. Novice A: Dogs not holding the C-CD, shown by a handler who has not completed an obedience title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. The handler must be the owner or member of the owner s immediate family and may enter one or more dogs in this class. No dog may be entered in both Novice A and Novice B at any trial. OPTIONAL TITLING CLASSES (Qualifying scores may earn legs toward obedience titles.) Preferred Utility: Dogs that have completed a C-CDX or C-PCDX title. A Cavalier may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. Preferred Open: Dogs that have completed the C-CD or C-PCD or higher Regular or Preferred titles. A Cavalier may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. Preferred Novice: Dogs that have not earned a qualifying score in any of the CKCSC-USA Open, Preferred Open, Graduate Novice, or Graduate Open classes. Graduate Open: Dogs that have not earned a C-GO. Graduate Novice: Dogs that have not earned a C-GN. Beginner Novice B: Dogs that have not earned any obedience title OR who have earned a C-BN, C-CD, and/or C-PCD title, but no other additional CKCSC-USA obedience titles or any obedience titles higher than novice in any country in which the breed is recognized. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. No dog may be entered in both Beginner Novice A and Beginner Novice B at any trial. Beginner Novice A: Dogs not holding a C-BN title, shown by a handler who has not completed an obedience title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. The handler must be the owner or a member of the owner s immediate family and may enter more than one dog in this class. No dog may be entered in both Beginner Novice A and Beginner Novice B at any trial. UNOFFICIAL OBEDIENCE CLASSES (Qualifying scores do not earn legs toward obedience titles.) Sub-Novice: Dogs may compete in Sub-Novice until the third leg of the C-CD is earned. All Novice exercises on lead: Heel (including the figure 8), Stand for Examination, Recall, Sit-Stay and Down-Stay. Versatility: This class is for dogs that are capable of performing the Open and Utility exercises. Brace: Two Cavaliers to perform the Novice exercises in unison. The dogs need not be in the same ownership or the same color, but must be handled by only one handler. Dogs may be shown unattached or coupled, the coupling device to be not less than 6 inches overall length. Whichever method is used, it must be continued throughout all exercises. Either or both dogs in a brace may be entered in another class(es) at the same trial. Veteran: Cavaliers 7 years and older to perform the Novice exercises. OBEDIENCE TRIAL FINAL AND OPTIONAL AWARDS AWARDS All official and optional titling classes are judged, then the unofficial obedience classes. Final Awards are awarded first, followed by the Optional Awards. FINAL AWARDS (Must be offered at every Obedience Trial.) To be awarded upon conclusion of the judging for the eligible classes. Obedience High In Trial (OHIT) is awarded to the highest qualifying exhibitor of the Novice A, Novice B, Open A, Open B, Utility A, and Utility B classes. If there is a tie score, a run-off beween the exhibitors with the highest score will be performed. Each exhibitor will perform an off-leash heel pattern. The Judge will score the performance and award the Obedience High In Trial to the exhibitor with the best performance. OPTIONAL AWARDS (If the host club offers these awards, they must be listed in the premium.) Individual Highest Scoring Class Award is awarded to the highest qualifying exhibitor in the specified class. Obedience High Combined is awarded to the exhibitor with the highest combined qualifying scores from the Open B and Utility classes. Page 13 of 14

RALLY As of 1/1/18 OFFICIAL RALLY CLASSES (Qualifying scores earn legs toward rally titles.) Rally Masters: Dogs holding the C-RE title. Rally Excellent B: Dogs holding the C-RA title. A dog completing the Rally Excellent (C-RE) title may continue to complete in this class indefinitely. Rally Excellent A: Dogs holding the C-RA title, but not holding any obedience title or any Rally Excellent title in any registry. Rally Advanced B: Dogs holding the C-RN title. A dog completing the Rally Advanced (C-RA) title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. Rally Advanced A: Dogs holding the C-RN title, but not holding any obedience title or any Rally Advanced title in any registry. Rally Intermediate: Dogs holding the C-RN title but not having any qualifying scores in either of the Rally Advanced classes. A dog competing for the Rally Intermediate (C-RI) title may continue to compete in this class until they earn a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced A or B class. Rally Novice B: Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced Class is earned. Rally Novice A: Dogs not holding any Novice, Open or Utility obedience title or any Rally title in any registry, shown by a handler who has not completed any obedience title or any Rally title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. After a dog earns the Rally Novice (C-RN) title, it may continue to compete in this class for 60 days. The handler must be the owner or member of the owner s immediate family and may enter one or more dogs in this class. No dog may be entered in both Novice A and Novice B at any trial. RALLY TRIAL FINAL AND OPTIONAL AWARDS AWARDS To be awarded upon conclusion of the judging for the eligible classes. FINAL AWARDS (Must be offered at every Rally Trial.) Rally High In Trial (RHIT) is awarded to the highest qualifying exhibitor of the Novice A, Novice B, Intermediate, Advanced A, Advanced B, Excellent A, Excellent B, and Masters classes. If there is a tie score from the same class level, time is used for a tie breaker. If there is a tie score among class levels, a run-off among the exhibitors with the high score will be performed. The runoff will have a minimum of 5 rally stations at the lowest level of the exhibitors competing in the run-off. The Judge will score the performance and award the Rally High In Trial to the exhibitor with the best performance. OPTIONAL AWARDS (If the host club offers these awards, they must be listed in the premium.) Individual Highest Scoring Class Award is awarded to the highest qualifying exhibitor in the specified class. Rally High Combined is awarded to the exhibitor with the highest combined score from the Rally Advanced B and Rally Excellent B classes. TRICK DOG As of 1/1/18 OFFICIAL TRICK DOG CLASSES (Qualifying scores earn legs toward trick dog titles.) Novice: Dogs to perform 10 skills from the Novice trick list. Intermediate: Dogs holding the C-TKN title to perform 10 skills from the Intermediate trick list. Advanced: Dogs holding the C-TKI title to perform 5 skills from the Advanced trick list.
