Judging and Scoring There will be 3 judges for each class, except in exceptional circumstances when the KC will be notified asap. Each judge will mark all three sections as follows A Programme Content - 10 marks 1 The programme content conforms to the definitions for HTM or Freestyle. 2 The programme should be varied with no excessive repetition of moves. 3 The movements of the dog should have a greater impact than those of the handler. 4 Movements should be appropriate to the structure and conformation of the dog. 5 Degree of difficulty of movement should be taken into account. B Accuracy and Execution of Movement - 10 marks 1 Movements are accurately and smoothly executed. 2 The accuracy of heelwork must be taken into account. 3 The bearing and deportment of the handler is appropriate to the routine. 4 The dog should work in a natural and willing manner. 5 The dog responds promptly and appropriately to the cues given. 6 Handler and dog should work as a team. 7 Any props used should be appropriate to the routine C Musical Interpretation - 10 marks 1 Interpretation of the music, rhythm and phrasing is apparent. 2 The programme flows and is not a series of disjointed movements. 3 Movements are complimentary to the programme s concept. 4 Handlers dress is applicable to the programme. 5 Emphasis of interpretation is on the dogs movements although the handler may be expressive. 6 Choreography should be apparent and flowing. The routine should include balance, structure, and making best use of available space. 7 The harmony and relationship should show the strength of dog and handler partnership 8 Handler and dog should work as a team. 9 Choice of music should suit the team. D In the event of dogs obtaining equal marks, in HTM competitions, the Accuracy and Execution of movement mark will decide the result. In Freestyle competition, the Musical Interpretation mark will decide the result. Where there is still equality of marks the order shall be decided at the discretion of the lead judge. E When assessing a routine the Judges should take into account any degree of departure from the regulations for handlers and dogs. F Where applicable Judges should judge to one decimal place.

G The dog should work in a willing and natural manner. Excessive barking must be penalised and a maximum of 4 marks can be deducted from the overall score at the Judges discretion. Please note competitors must be aware of: Kennel club HTM Competition Regulations paragraphs; 9,10,14,16. Music The duration of the routine should be a maximum length as follows Starters; maximum time limit up to 2.30 mins (over run 5% = 7.5secs) Novice; maximum time limit up to 3.30 mins (over run 5% = 10.5secs) Intermediate; maximum time limit up to 4mins (over run 5% = 12 secs) Advanced; maximum time limit up to 4mins over (over run 5% = 12 secs) An over run of 5% is permitted, but 2 marks will be deducted from the overall score for any time taken in excess of the above. The exact duration of the music should be noted on the entry form. Each handler should provide their own clearly marked music, which should be clean and of a high quality, The handler should provide a backup copy of the music, bring it with you to hand in as you enter the ring. Booking In Handlers must book in and lodge their music with the event organisers before 11:00am. A running order will be drawn and competitors will be notified of their running order for the 1 st class only prior to the day of the competition, these people will need to hand their music in before 8am. Details of all the other running orders will be displayed at the venue and in the catalogue which can be ordered on your entry form. The Ring The event will be held in a sports hall with an anti slip surface the ring will be approximately 18x15 sq yd. The judges will be positioned on one of the longer sides. Sponsor: Helen Taylor www.crazydogs.co.uk Performance Rules ( Kennel Club Regs L) 1 No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of any dog at any time within the precincts of the competition. 2 Food/training aids shall not be carried in the ring or given to a dog whilst being judged. 3 Dogs may only wear a collar, which may be decorated. 4 Props appropriate to the routine may be used, The use of firearms is prohibited nor must any simulated gunshot be used. 5 If a dog fouls in the ring, the competitor must stop immediately and the judges must exclude the dog from the ring. 6 If the dog leaves the ring and ceases working it should be eliminated from the competition but allowed to continue and complete the routine, as long as the music is still playing. If a dog accidentally steps outside the ring during a routine it will not be penalised. 7Once a dog has entered the ring to compete, on further practice may be carried out. 8 The decision to withdraw is entirely at the discretion of the competitor, however, a competitor may not withdraw once a routine has been completed and scored. 9 No activity shall be conducted which may be injurious to the dog. 10 The judges must observe the dog at all times whilst in the ring, even after elimination from competition. 11 No costume or routine should bring discredit to the sport.

Definitions of Classes 1 Heelwork to Music; The principle element of the HTM category will be a dog working off lead in the heelwork position, on the left or right hand sides of the handler, facing forward or backward, across the front or back of the handler, moving in any direction, at any pace. The dog s shoulder should be approximately level with, and reasonably close to the handlers leg. All other positions are defined as Freestyle. A minimum of 2 thirds of the routine should consist of heel work. 2 Freestyle; A freestyle routine will be the dog working off lead and contain movements in any position. When assessing eligibility to enter a competition, wins in one official category will not count for the other category. At the discretion of the competition organisers dogs may be entered in eligible classes in both categories, however a different routine must be worked. The points system started 01/01/07 and points must not be claimed retrospectively. The following points will be awarded in all Kennel Club Registered classes. 1 st place 10 points; 2 nd place 6 points; 3 rd place 4 points; 4 th place 2 points; The following applies to both Heelwork To Music and Freestyle classes Starters; For dogs and handlers which have not gained 14 points or more in official starters classes Novice; For dogs or handlers which have not gained 14 points or more in official starters classes Intermediate; For dogs which have not gained 16 points or more in official starters classes Advanced; For dogs which have not gained 20 points or more in official starters classes *A dog cannot be entered in the same class twice. *A dog must be entered in its lowest official class for which it is eligible. *In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the 7 th day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering any class. *For more detail on the Awards, the Excellent Qualifications, and the Points get a copy of Kennel Club Regulations L rules for partaking in these events, which will be on sale at our and every KC event. *All dogs must be in possession of a KC HTM Record book to detail where each award was gained. John Smith Transport LTD ( Bulk and Container) Additional rules 1 The committee and organisers reserve unto themselves the right to refuse entries. 2 No bitch in season is allowed to compete. 3 The mating of bitches within the precincts of the competition is forbidden. 4Should a judge be unable to fulfil their appointment to judge, the organisers reserve the right to appoint an alternative judge. 5 No handler shall impugn the decision of the judges. 6 It is entirely the competitors responsibility to be available for their class running order. 7Should unforeseen circumstances so dictate the organisers, in consultation with the judges, may alter arrangements as necessary, Such changes will be reported to the KC. 8 Only dogs of 12 calendar months and over, that are registered with the KC, are eligible to be entered for competition. 9 All dogs are entered at this event at their owners risk and while every care will be taken the organisers will not accept responsibility for loss. damage or injury, however caused to dogs, person or property while at the event. 10 In the event of circumstances making it necessary that the event is cancelled, Fylde K9 Dancers reserve the right to defray expenses from the entry fees received. 11 For safety reasons the organisers reserve the right to refuse admission to any person/dog as necessary. 12 Not for competition entries will be accepted free of charge for dogs over 4 calendar months and over. Details of each dog must be recorded on the entry form and must be KC registered 13 All entered dogs must be kept under control and are not allowed within the first 2 rows of the ring. 14 A separate entry form must be completed for each routine/ dog entered. 15 No amendments may be made to an entry after the closing date of entries. Mrs. M. Jones, Grassendale Bed and Breakfast Crufts HTM / Freestyle Competition Regulations 2009 All Crufts qualifying competitions will be judged under the appropriate KC Regulations in force at the time of the event. Competitors entering any competition will be deemed to have agreed to abide by these regulations. To be eligible to enter these classes, dogs must be eligible to compete in Advanced classes. Both the show organisers and the KC reserve the right to verify the dogs eligibility to compete. The semi finals for Crufts HTM / Freestyle competitions will be scheduled by Rugby DTC at its HTM show held at the Sports Connexion, Coventry each year. The first ten placed Freestyle entries will qualify for the Freestyle Finals at Crufts and the first ten placed HTM entries will qualify for the HTM Finals at Crufts. Crufts Advanced HTM and Freestyle Competition rules Competitors may enter more than one dog in a heat. Competitors may qualify more than one dog for the semi final and may qualify more than one dog for the final. Once a dog has qualified for the semi final, further heats may be entered for competitors although any placings in these further heats will not affect the dogs eligibility for the semi finals. The first three placed previously unqualified dogs from each heat will be invited to compete in the semi finals, i.e. in the event that the first to third placed dogs have already qualified for the semi final at a previous heat, the forth,fifth and sixth placed dogs from the heat will be invited to compete in the semi final. The Kennel Club will provide place rosettes 1 st to 10 th for this class. Sponsor I Care Group Care at home Community Meals, Residential Care Homes, Extra Care Dogs in Cars on Hot Days, Welfare of Dogs Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the KC offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC events * When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in the traffic. * If your vehicle in not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea

at all. * The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. * Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around your dog. * When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. * Keep the dog in the shade-take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. * Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dogs welfare. An exhibitor ( or competitor ) whose dog is entered at a KC licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of this regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under KC Rules and Regulations. Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Club Member Sponsor Miss Anita Hartland The Venue Directions M6 turn off at J32 on to the M55, J3 turn right on to the A585 to Fleetwood, carry on for 2 miles until you come to a T junction with traffic lights, turn left still on the A585, carry on to the next set of Lights and then follow the sign to Poulton-Le Fylde on the A586. Carry on straight through 3 sets of lights, after these continue on for about a mile. The venue is on the right in a big green building, with a

sign for Collegiate High School Sports College, this is the Venue. Spectators We will be opening the show up to local and holiday maker spectators after lunch. We just ask that if we get hundreds of afternoon spectators that they get the seats.
