Triangle Community Garden Open Day and Fun Dog Show 2016 Safety Management Plan Management Arrangements Organiser: Deputies: and Rachel Cottey All three will be responsible for event preparations and for the running of the event. The dog show ring (including queuing area and exit), dog agility arena and welly-wanging range will be taped off using high viz tape and road pins, as shown on the event plan. The cycle ride will start and finish from the basketball court with cyclists asked to dismount to cross the Rec. Cycle parking will be provided by the railings outside the Pavilion. Dog owners will be advised to keep dogs on the lead at all times, except within the area zoned for dog exercise (the football pitch). See risk assessment document.

Stewarding and on site traffic management: Vicky will be responsible for training and deploying stewards to coordinate stallholder arrivals and people arriving for the family cycle ride. Stewards will direct stallholder vehicles to their pitches between 9am and 11am. No motor vehicle movement aled in the park between 11am and 4.15pm. Cyclists will arriving for the start of the family cycle ride at 11am will be directed to the basketball court off Grove Road. CTC ride leaders will coordinate the start of the ride, which will not cross the Rec. Cyclists will be advised to return to the basketball court, dismount and walk to the cycle parking provided by the railings outside the Pavilion. Public Information: Vicky will be responsible for communicating to the public in the event of an emergency, using a loud hailer. Emergency liaison: Liz will use a mobile phone to liaise with emergency services. Security: we will invite the local community police officer to attend the event Control/Crowd management: A loud hailer will be used if necessary Fire Safety: John Wyer In the unlikely event of a fire, John will be responsible for minimising the immediate risk (we have fire extinguishers, blankets, buckets, hoses and water on site) and Vicky will coordinate an evacuation of the area under the large tree in the centre of the Rec, using a loud hailer. will call the fire service. Structures/Gazebos/Food stalls: John Wyer Gazebos will be used to protect the stalls from showers and hot weather. These will be erected as per instructions and pegged into the ground, using the guys provided. John will check these as they are set up. Any tripping hazards will be made clearly visible. Stallholders will be advised to check them regularly throughout the event. Hot food will be provided by Cantina Carnitas from a food wagon. Electricity Supply: Margaret Byrne Margaret will be responsible for the electricity supply from the Pavilion for live music amplification. A band will be playing amplified acoustic music from directly outside the Pavilion using an extension lead through an open window. No public access will be aled between the band and the Pavilion Lighting: n/a On-site welfare: Medical/First Aid: Both qualified first aiders, and will be on site for the duration of the event. Fresh water is available on site and we have a first aid kit sufficient to treat 30 people. A clearly signed area will be set aside for emergency first aid treatment. Lost children: Liz will be responsible for dealing with lost children. A lost children notice will be displayed at the Pavilion. Volunteers at the Pavilion will be responsible for advising Liz or Vicky of any lost children. Liz or Vicky will make a public announcement if necessary.

Food safety: Food served will be precooked and served cold, except for Cantina Carnitas food, which will be under the control of their staff. A risk assessment and proof of food hygiene certificate will be secured from them prior to the event. Handwashing facilities will be provided: a clean basin, cold water and handwash. Drinks will be kept cool and served in plastic cups. Icepops and lollies will be served from a cool box. Liz will be responsible for briefing helpers re serving and checking that food safety precautions are adhered to. Water Provision: Rachel Cottey Rachel will be responsible for the tap tops, and for making water available when necessary. Lost/found property: Margaret Byrne The programme will indicate that any lost or found property should be brought to/sought at the Pavilion. Margaret will receive and keep safe any lost property and an announcement will be made by Vicky if necessary. Sanitation: Liz will be responsible for checking that the toilets are clean prior to the event. Liz to inspect after event and leave as found. Waste Management: Liz will ensure that black bags are provided at suitable locations throughout the event, and that a full litter pick is carried out at the end of the event. Litter bins will be differentiated into paper, plastic, metal and compost to encourage recycling. All litter will be properly disposed of. On-site information: Rachel Cottey and Notices will be posted around the event informing people of hand-washing facilities, lost children point, where to look for lost property, fire evacuation point and fire procedure, first aid point, toilets, cycle ride start and finish, cycle parking, dog show ring, dog agility arena, dog exercise area, etc. All this will also be in on a plan in the programme. Contingency Plans Fire In the event of a fire either in the Rec or in the Pavilion, people will be asked to evacuate the site and collect under the large tree in the middle of the Rec. If the fire is in the Pavilion the fire exit plan for Ransom s Pavilion will be foled. If the fire is in the Rec and is manageable it may be tackled with water, an extinguisher or a fire blanket. In any event the fire brigade will be called. Emergency vehicles should enter via Nightingale Road entrance and keep to the route shown on the plan. Accident/Injury First aid will be administered on site if necessary by a qualified first aider in a designated area if possible, or in situ. If necessary emergency services will be called. Triangle Community Garden s Committee Food Handling Guidelines 2016 Food storage Always store raw meat separately from cooked/ready to eat foods. All foods should be covered or stored in sealed containers. Keep meat in a closed fridge or cool box until needed. Hand washing Always wash your hands either with warm soapy water before handling any food facilities in the Pavilion. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw meat, before touching anything else. Antiseptic gel is considered ineffective on some pathogens, please always use warm soapy water on hand at the Pavilion. Please use gloves when handling raw meat. Do not handle anything else with these gloves and discard carefully after use. Always wash hands after handling money, and before handling food. Food preparation Ensure worktops, knives and other utensils are cleaned and if necessary disinfected thoroughly beforehand, and after use. Use different chopping boards/work surfaces/utensils for raw and ready to eat food. Ensure all assistants know which are which. Use separate utensils for raw and cooked foods and keep them separately on clean trays or boards. Use disposable cloths to clean surfaces and discard after wiping any surface that has been touched by raw meat. Cooking and serving Make sure the cooks wear an apron and use clean utensils. Keep ready-to-serve food eg cooked meat, rolls, salads, garnishes, etc completely separate from raw meat, and use separate utensils. Cook small portions at a time, turn food regularly and move it around to cook evenly. Always ensure food is cooked all the way through, piping hot, any juices run clear and no meat is pink. Ensure the grill or oven is at the optimum temperature to cook meat through without charring. Do not assume that if meat is charred on the outside it is cooked properly on the inside. (Remember, when you reheat food, always make sure it's piping hot all the way through). Do not reduce cooking times, even if people are waiting to eat. If you are short-handed, ask customers to serve themselves with ready-to-eat food, while you serve the cooked food. Ask an assistant to take money for you. Ensure that anyone taking over from you understands these principles!
