TRIAL Gate Entries Close for Trial 10 minutes after completion of QC and tests. Roll Call & Inspection for Trial will be 10 minutes after closing of gate entries for trial. **NOTE: The August 28, 2010 St. Croix Kennel Club Dog Show Judging Schedule for Afghans will be posted at the field and posted on our website www.gtcahc.com as soon as it is distributed. You may also contact the Trial Co-Secretaries for the Afghan breed judging time in advance of the event. ELIGIBILITY Only purebred Afghan Hounds that are one year of age or older and have been registered with the AKC or an AKC recognized foreign registry or that have been granted an Indefinite Listing Privilege (ILP) may be entered. Breed disqualifications apply. TESTS OFFERED Junior Courser Open to all eligible Afghan Hounds. A hound running alone must receive a certification from a judge on one day, and a second certification from a different judge on another day, with each judge stating that the hound completed a (minimum) 600-yard course with a minimum of 4 turns. Qualified Courser Open to all eligible Afghan Hounds. The qualifying hound will run with another hound, completing a (minimum) 600-yard course with a minimum of 4 turns. The qualifying hound must run the course without interfering with, coursing, or showing aggression toward the other

hound. The owner of the qualifying dog must provide or arrange for a hound of like running style for their hound to run with in this test. TRIAL STAKES OFFERED Open - Open only to Afghan Hounds with no breed disqualifications, that hold an AKC QC certificate OR have run in the open stake prior to January 1, 2010 OR have a Senior Courser title OR have an ASFA or CKC field champion title (a copy of this title must be attached to the entry form if the QC requirement is to be waived). Championship points are awarded from this stake. Note: Hounds that have earned an AKC Field Championship title are not eligible to enter the Open Stake. Special - Open only to eligible Afghan Hounds that are eligible to enter the open stake and have earned their AKC Field Championship title. LCX points are awarded from this stake. Veteran Open to all Afghan hounds that are eligible to enter Open or Special stake and are of Veteran age as determined by their parent breed club (Afghans = 7 years old). Points won from the veteran s stake may count toward either a Field Champion or LCX title. Note: Hounds that have received a disqualification at an AKC trial are ineligible to compete until re-certified CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. BITCHES IN SEASON AND LAME HOUNDS WILL BE EXCUSED and entry fees shall be refunded. 2. Spayed or neutered hounds, without breed disqualifications, may be entered. MONORCHID OR CRYPTORCHID HOUNDS MAY NOT BE ENTERED. 3. All entries must be one year of age or over on the day of the test/trial. 4. A fee of $25.00 will be assessed for any returned checks. 5. Dogs must be ready for judging. Judges need not wait for dogs holding up a stake. 6. All hounds will run twice, in trios if possible, or braces unless excused, dismissed or disqualified. Course will be reversed for finals and run-offs. 7. Stakes may be split if at the time of the draw there are sufficient entries to support more than one 5-point major. 8. Running order will be posted. 9. Hounds not present at the time of Roll Call will be scratched after a 5-minute grace period. 10. Muzzles are not required, but are permitted at the handler's discretion. 11. There will be a $5.00 fine assessed for any loose hound on the field not taking part in course in progress. 12. Battery powered continuous loop equipment will be used. 13. The field committee reserves the right to alter the course depending on the field and other conditions. 14. The field is fully fenced and fairly level with groomed, mowed, watered lush grass. 15. Any person upon reasonable complaint may be asked to leave the grounds by the field committee. Children must be under the control of their parents or guardian at all times. 16. Practice runs may be offered after the trial and tests for a fee of $5, weather and equipment permitting. 17. Only the lure operator, huntmaster, judges and handlers of the course in progress will be permitted near the lure operating equipment. NORTHERN CUP - PERPETUAL TROPHY The NORTHERN CUP is a perpetual trophy awarded by GTCAHC each year to the Afghan Hound that wins Best of Breed at the annual GTCAHC Afghan Hound Specialty Lure Coursing Trial. The winner s name will be inscribed on the trophy and the winner s owner will take possession of the trophy until the NORTHERN CUP is awarded to the next winner the following year. The winner will also receive a complementary photo. NOTE ON THE NEW QC TEST REQUIREMENT As of January 1, 2010, all hounds entering the Open stake must have earned a Qualifying Courser certification (unless the hound has run in the open or veteran stake prior to Jan. 1, 2010, or the hound is an ASFA or CKC field champion a copy of such title must accompany the hound s first trial entry). The JC title alone is no longer a requirement or qualification for entering Open stake or veteran stake. If you are entering your hound for a QC test, check JC on the entry form and write QC next to it. (Entry forms have not been updated). You are responsible for finding a hound of like running style to run with your QC hound. Be sure to complete your portion of the Qualified Courser Certificate before your hound takes the field. FACILITIES, WATER & SHADE Water, bathrooms, a large cool or air-conditioned building where dogs can be crated/x-penned and a large party/social area are available. There is very little outdoor shade. Cooling pools for hounds will be provided if the weather is hot. LUNCH, BEVERAGE & SNACKS Lunch, beverages and snacks will be available for a small suggested donation. MEMORY RUN Immediately following the awarding of ribbons and prizes there will be a memory run. See separate insert. DINNER AND PARTY & DANCING GTCAHC will host dinner & a party at King s Ranch following the trial & Memory Run. Social at 6:00, Dinner at 7:00, Party and Dancing at 8:00. See separate insert. 30

DRIVING DIRECTIONS From the Lake Elmo Show Site: Go NORTH on 40TH ST N / County Road14 toward MANNING AVE N / County Road 15. Turn RIGHT onto MANNING AVE N /County Road 14 / County Road 15. Turn LEFT after 0.2miles onto STILLWATER BLVD N / MN State Highway 5 heading west. Continue to follow MN State 5 westbound for 4.9 miles. Merge onto Interstate 694 northbound. Continue on I-694 for 12.8 miles. Merge onto US Highway 10 westbound via EXIT 42B toward ANOKA. Continue to follow US Highway 10 westbound. It merges onto I-35W N, then off of I- 35W at EXIT 30 heading toward ANOKA. NOTE: US Highway 10 is the one with the shield on the sign. Don t follow County Road 10. Remain on US 10 past Anoka, toward Elk River for a total of about 18 miles. Turn RIGHT onto ARMSTRONG BLVD NW/ County Road 83 and stay on that road for 4.3 miles. Turn LEFT onto 173RD AVE NW. Then an immediate left onto Baugh St NW. Drive Time: 49 minutes Distance: 42:95 miles. From the South, Southeast and Southwest: Take I-94 to US 169 North to US 10 (when you get to Main Street in Anoka continue to go straight across Main Street. You will be on Ferry Street for about 4 blocks until you are at US 10). Turn left on US 10 and go about 4.5 miles. Turn Right on Armstrong Blvd. NW (AKA CR-83) and go about 4.3 miles. Turn Left onto 173rd Avenue NW and then an immediate left onto Baugh St NW. Driving From the Northeast: From Interstate 35 southbound take the Wyoming exit (Viking Boulevard) go west on Viking Boulevard. Viking Boulevard crosses State 65 (Central Ave). Remain on Viking, passing through almost all of Anoka County. Beyond the town of Nowthen, look for the intersection with Baugh Street NW. [There is a cemetery on the northwest corner of this intersection]. Turn left (south) on Baugh Street NW. Remain on Baugh for a few miles. Continue past the 4-way stop sign. Just before Baugh curves to the left, jog to the right then left, and continue south to the second driveway on the left.
