Max and Ben have pets. You have met Razz. Ben has a dog. It is a dog like Kim s dog. Ben named his dog, Scotty. Max and Ben like to brag. 1
2 Max said, "My cat came from a pet store." Ben said, "My dog came from Scotland." Max said, "My cat purrs in his sleep." Ben said, "My dog snores in his sleep!"
Max said, "A dog does not snore. Dads snore. My dad snores!" "My dad snores, and my grandpa snores more," said Ben, "and a dog can snore, too!" 3
4 "Come home and see. We will have to spy on Scotty. If we wake him, we won't hear him snore," said Ben The pals planned a sneak attack on Scotty.
Max and Ben creep like snails up to the back door. Max and Ben sneak in. Scotty is asleep. Sh-sh-sh-sh... Max and Ben stand still. 5
"Do you hear him?" asked Ben. "I do," said Max. "I guess dogs snore, too." 6
Ben wore a smile as big as a mile. "Yup, dogs can snore," Ben said. Max looked a tad sad. I will say no more," said Ben. 7
8 "Mom said we can fix a snack. Let's make an ice cream cone," said Ben. "We can stack it up to the sky!" "RAZZ-MA-TAZZ! Lets do it," said Max. So, Max and Ben got the ice cream from the freezer. Ben stacked the ice cream onto the cones.
The sweet treat got as big as Pike's Peak! Max had a big lick. The Pike's Peak treat began to tip. The tippy top fell on the floor. The ice cream made a sticky mess. (Max had a plan to fix the spill.) 9
"Razz likes ice cream," said Max. "Let him lick up the spills." Max opened the back door. Razz ran... into the ice cream spill. 10
"Oh, no!" cried Ben. "I fear we will have a dog-and-cat spat! Scotty can smell a cat a mile away. He does get mad at cats." Scotty HAD smelled Razz. He leaped from his bed! 11
12 Scotty stared at Razz and said, "Grrr-Grrr-Grrr." The hair on Razz's spine began to stand on end. The pets ran across the floor. The ice cream became a slick mess. Razz and Scotty slipped and slid in the icky... sticky... stuff.
Razz was a speedy cat. He ran for the dog door. But, Razz was a fat cat too. He got stuck in the door! Scotty snipped and snapped at his fluffy tail. Lucky for Razz he had a speedy tail. 13
14 "Don't bite his tail off!" said Ben. Ben grabbed his dog by the scruff of his neck. Max tugged and tugged on Razz, but the fat cat stayed stuck in the door. I mean really stuck!
"I quit!" said Max. "Today is not my lucky day. Poor Razz!" Razz's sides began to slip. Razz sneezed... A-ch... a-ch... A-CHOO! Razz sneezed his way free. 15
16 "Your dog does snore," said Max. "But my cat sneezes. I mean, really sneezes!" "No lie!" said Ben. Max and Ben smile. Max and Ben clean up the... icky... sticky mess.
