RULES: The Show will be held under the Rules of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. as in force on the date of the publication of this schedule and will be on display on the day of the Show. 2. Rejection of Entries, etc. The promoting body reserves the right to refuse any entry, advertisement or other insertion in the Catalogue or the allocation of Stand space at the Show. 5. Entry Forms: The Catalogue will be compiled from the Entry Forms submitted by the Exhibitors, and while every endeavour will be made to have the Forms correctly interpreted, Newtownards & District Canine Club cannot accept any responsibility for mistakes which may bring Exhibitors within the purview of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. Rule 15, Sect. 1 or clerical mistakes that may occur during the compilation. 6. Ineligible entries: A transfer of an incorrect entry as to sex or breed may be allowed by the Secretary prior to the commencement of judging and a dog entered in an age class for 2
which it is not eligible may be transferred to the next appropriate age class if applicable in that breed but in no other respects. 7. As there no Entry Fees charged, there will be no Prize Money. Prize cards will be given to 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and Reserved in each Class. Rosettes will be given to Green Star Winners, Best of breed, Best A.V.N.C., Group winners to 4 th place. Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show. Special Prizes offered for competition by or through a Specialist Club shall be collected and distributed by that Club. 8. Exhibits: (a) Each exhibitor shall be responsible for keeping their exhibits under proper control at all times; (b) every exhibit must be removed by the owner or agent not later than 7.00 pm 9. Judges: In the event of the appointed Judge failing to keep his/her engagement the Committee shall have the right to appoint another Judge/s. 10. Judging: (a) will commence at 9.30 am sharp. No claim will be considered in the event of an exhibit being late. (b) No persons will be allowed in the Judging Ring except the Judge, Show Officials, or an exhibitor taking in a dog for adjudication. (c) The exhibition number of each dog must be clearly displayed b the handler, who shall not wear a badge or other decoration in the Judging Ring. (d) The Club will not be responsible for the exhibition of any exhibit in the ring. 11. Special Prizes offered by a Special club must be collected from the Club. 12. All announcements appearing in the Belfast Telegraph prior to the closing of entries or in reference to any alterations made by the club in the Schedule or in these Regulations shall be deemed sufficient notice thereof. 13. Interpretation: The Committee of the Promoting Club shall be the Show Committee within the meaning of the IKC Rules; all disputes, if any, shall be dealt with by the Committee. Parties to any dispute shall have the right to appeal to the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. 14. Accident or Damage: The Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained through accident by exhibits, exhibitors or other persons attending the show. 15. Exercise/Puppy Pens: are prohibited within the confines of the exhibition area, at all shows licensed by the Irish Kennel Club with effect from the 1st January 2009. 16. Dogs not entered for competition: Dogs which are not being exhibited at all Breed Championship Shows must be entered as NOT FOR COMPETITION, for insurance purposes, prior to close of entries. Dogs to be entered on a form supplied by the show promoting society giving details of breed/s and name/s of each dog. The show promoting society shall issue a pass or passes to such dogs and keep a record of same. Production of passes may be requested in any area of dispute. The fee for this facility shall be Five Euro, ( 5.00), per dog. 17. Puppies under the age of six (6) months should not be present on the show grounds unless being exhibited where a Baby Puppy class is scheduled. SECTION 1 RULE 7 REGISTRATION Every dog exhibiting or competing at any Show, Field Trial or obedience Test, must be registered with the Irish Kennel Club Ltd in the name of the exhibitor or competitor, save in the case of Greyhounds duly registered with the Irish Coursing Club and dog not of a recognised breed for which licences have been approved for Obedience, Agility or Working Tests. Failure to comply with the above will result in (a) the dog being disqualified from the event and (b) the exhibitor being fined 127 the implementation of which shall be a normal office routine. All appeals to the Irish Kennel Club should carry a fee of 6, refundable if the appeal is upheld. 3

Exhibitors Please Note The Committee are most anxious for the care and safety of dogs sent for exhibition, or any other property entrusted to them but it must be distinctly understood by exhibitors and all other persons that the committee will not be responsible for the loss, dentition, or of damage to any dog or property, whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever, or from any act of omission of themselves, their officers, agents or others. Exhibitors are warned to secure their cars and any belongings therein. 4
RULES FOR GROUP JUDGING & BEST IN SHOW 1. The Promoting Body will not accept any responsibility nor be under any obligation to see that dogs eligible to compete are exhibited in their particular Groups, or for Best in Show, other than announcing in the ring that judging is about to take place. The Promoting Body will not accept any responsibility in the case of an exhibit that is excluded from competing in a Group, owing to the judging of its breed not having been completed, or for any other reason. 2. Competition in Group Classes will be confined to undefeated winners in their breed. 3. No dog shall be entitled to compete in a Group where any prize or award has been withheld from it in its breed at the show. 4. A fee will not be payable for entry in any of the Groups nor for Best in Show. 5. Groups will be divided into ten sections - as defined in the Irish Kennel Club Rules & Regulations. 6. Upon entering the Group Ring Competitors must produce their correct ring number. 7. In each Group and Best in Show the judges shall make the following awards: viz, 1st, 2nd, 3 rd etc. to 4 th place, absentees MUST be marked. 8. Competition for Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show is confined to the winners of the ten groups. 9. If your Group Judging has not commenced before 4:30 p.m. a Best of Breed winner may leave the show but must notify the Show Secretary in writing that the exhibit will not be present for the Group judging. Otherwise all exhibits qualified for the Group must be exhibited therein. An exhibit failing to report for the Group will incur a fine of 50 and be disqualified from all wins on the day unless a valid reason is lodged with the Show Secretary before judging commences. Notice for schedule The Stakes Classes scheduled at this Show are separate from the Breed Judging and do not come under the rules of the Green Star System, e.g. An exhibit which has been beaten in a Stakes Class but wins Best of Breed may proceed to compete in its relevant Group. All exhibits who wish to enter Stakes Classes must be entered in their relevant Breed Classes with the exception of Champions/Veterans who may enter the Stakes Class only. A separate judge other than the Best in Show or Group judge must be used for stakes classes (Best in Show qualified) Procedures will come into effect from the 1 st January 2011 5
CLASSIFICATION FOR ALL BREEDS WHERE APPLICABLE Dogs: Baby Puppy Puppy Junior Intermediate Adult Open Champion Veteran F/Trial Bitches: Baby Puppy Puppy Junior Intermediate Adult Open Champion Veteran F/Trial Junior Handling Classes 10 12 yrs. 13 14 yrs. 15 17 yrs. Stakes Classes: Puppy Stakes - Dogs, Puppy Stakes - Bitches, Veteran Stakes, Brace Stakes, Champion Stakes Please Note: All Gundog Breeds have Field Trial Dog and Bitch classes CLASS DEFINITIONS (The word Dog includes both sexes) Baby Puppy Class is confined to dogs over four and under six months of age on the day of the Show. Dogs entered in this class are not eligible to challenge for the Green Star and may not take part in any further competition other than Best Baby Puppy in Show. Puppy Class is confined to dogs over 6 and under 12 months of age on the day of the Show Junior Class is confined to dogs over 9 and under 18 months of age on the day of the Show. Intermediate Class is confined to dogs over 15 and under 24 months on the day of the Show. An Adult Class is for dogs between 24 and 36 calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Open Class is confined to dog over 15 months on the day of the Show. Champion Class is confined to dogs that have attained the title of Champion under the Rules & Regulations of the Irish Kennel Club or other Kennel Authority recognised by the Irish Kennel Club. Veteran Class is confined to dog over 8 years of age on the day of the Show Field Trial Class is confined to dogs who have won at least a reserve in a Puppy, Novice, Derby or Open Stake as defined in the Field Trial Rules & Regulations. A copy of the relevant win at Field Trial must accompany the entry form. Please Note: A Veteran Dog who is a Champion may enter in either Veteran or Champion Class but not both. N.B.: A Dog or Bitch may be entered in ONE BREED CLASS ONLY (No double entries) Brace Class is for two exhibits of the same or different sexes of the same breed belonging to the same person, each exhibit having been entered in some class other than brace or team. NOTE: Dogs under the age of six months are not allowed into the show grounds. All dogs entered must be registered or transferred at the Irish Kennel Club in the name of the Exhibit 6
OBEDIENCE CLASS DEFINITIONS PRE -BEGINNERS Confined to dogs or handlers which have not been awarded two first prizes (on or under 10 marks) in any obedience test under Irish Kennel Club Limited Rules or under any Kennel Club recognised by The Irish Kennel Club Limited. Handlers will not be penalised for encouragement or extra commands except in the sit and down stay tests. In these stay tests handlers will face their dogs. Judge or Steward may not use the words 'Last Command' except in the sit and down stay tests. BEGINNERS Confined to dogs or handlers which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or awarded three or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks) in any obedience test under Irish Kennel Club Rules or under any Kennel Club recognised by The Irish Kennel Club. NOVICE Confined to dogs which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience class other than in Beginners Obedience class. CLASS (A) OBEDIENCE (GRADUATE) Confined to dogs which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience Class other than in Beginners and Novice Obedience classes. CLASS (B) OBEDIENCE (LIMIT) Confined to dogs which have not been awarded a Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience Classes with the exception of Beginners, Novice or Graduate Obedience classes. CLASS (C) CH. OBEDIENCE (OPEN) Open to all. OBEDIENCE will commence at 9.30 A.M. FOULING Please keep in mind I.K.C. Rule: if your dog fouls the venue indoor or outdoor and you do not clean it up you will be fined 28.00 ( 20). This year s committee will be strictly enforcing this rule. Save yourself money and clean up after your dog, and assure a comfortable venue for any future shows. The Japanese Akita The Japanese Akita as a breed no longer exists. There are now two breeds; American Akita and Akita Inu - both these breeds have their own standards. Once a dog has been assessed as being of either of the two breeds it can be shown in the appropriate classes. This means that in future both breeds should be classified in the schedule and there should be an identical classification for those dogs yet to be assessed. (Class 1 Akita Inu, Class 2 American Akita and Class 3 Akita Inu/American Akita (not yet assessed) 7
Newtownards & District Canine Club Introducing Our Best in Show and Overseas Judges Mr Bill McEntee: Bill is well known exhibitor within the Gundog Groups in Ireland. He is approved to judge FCI Groups 3, 7 & 8 and a number of Breeds in Group 1. We welcome Bill to Newtownards for this his first Best in Show appointment. Mrs Marion Campbell: Marion is a very well-known figure within the Irish Dog Scene and is an exhibitor of Pugs. She is the Secretary of the Irish kennel Club and we welcome her for her first appointment in judging the Stakes Classes at Newtownards. Mr Bert Easden: Bert is a very well-known exhibitor and Judge from the UK. He is particularly well known for his famous Pekingese. We welcome Bert back to Ireland for this his first appointment at Newtownards. Mrs Jos Dekker: Jos is a very well-known and respected Judge from the Netherlands. There are no facilities for overnight parking or camping. Catering facilities will be available throughout the day. In order to improve speed of entry into the Show Grounds and thereby reduce road congestion, pre-paid car passes are considerably cheaper than payment on the day. The organisers would therefore greatly appreciate exhibitors paying for such passes along with their entries. Exhibitors wishing to Advertise The price for exhibitors wishing to place an advertisement in the Catalogue is 30.00 or 30.00 per page. Adverts and payment should be sent with entries. 12
The Puppy Stakes is a qualifier for the Combined Canine Pup of the Year 2018 Stakes Will be Split: One Class For Dogs One Class for Bitches From which the Judge: Mrs. M. Campbell will select a Minimum of four from each Class to compete for the Best Puppy in Stakes Exhibitors please Note:- Breed judging will not be delayed for dogs entered in Stakes Classes. Trade Stands All Trade Stands must be pre booked & Paid to the Secretary at least 14 days before date of show.
