Here is one, assistants to all positions for members to familiarize themselves with the different responsibilities of each position. Maybe we should have each person give an explanation of the duties of their position. I only say this because we are all getting older and I would not like to see someone thrown into a position cold turkey. This is in no way a reflection on anyone. It is hopefully to educate members who may have to fill in at a position. Maybe even make a job description for each position and keep it on file. Let us know your feelings and ideas at the meeting on June 15 th. Jim NEXT MEETING: June 15th, 2016-7 PM at Trivet Restaurant, Rte. 309 and Tilghman St. Contact Jimmy Wilkinson at (610) 965-0096 for more information NEW FACEBOOK ACCOUNT Like us on Facebook! 3 SPRING FIELD TRIAL The Anthracite Brittany Club held it 2017 Spring Field Trial at the Freeland Kennel Club on May 20-21, 2017. The weather was cool in the high 60 s and overcast with some light rain on Saturday Morning. Occasionally there were strong breezes. This weather was a relief to the trailers and the dogs as the previous two days leading up the weekend were hot and humid with temperatures reaching into the 90 s. We had a light entry with too few puppies and derby dogs to even hold the stakes. The Amateur Walking Gun Dog, historically the largest stake at the trial, had only 10 entries. The Open Limited Gun Dog and The Open Gun Dog stakes were large stakes with 19 and 23 entries respectfully. We were pleased once again, through the generosity of club member Ed Razzis, to have a donation to raffle off. This time the prize was a $100.00 gift card to Lion Country Supply. Happy Hour and our Potluck Dinner were a festive event. We gathered outside in the cool evening to watch The Preakness run on Paul and Lisa s Pollock s outdoor TV and then we did our own placements for the day before going inside for dinner. The field trial committee would like to thank all of our participants, judges, bird planters, club members and spectators for their support. It is your generosity and participation that make these events possible. We could not put this trial on without you. 2017AMERICAN BRITTANY GUN DOG CLASSIC 2017 American Brittany Gun/Shooting Dog Classic Thank you to our judges for this year s American Brittany Gun Dog Classic: Ken Kohls from New York and Dave McKay from Pennsylvania. Many thanks to Anthracite Brittany Club and New England Field Trial Association for hosting this prestigious event. Many thanks to the trial committee as well: The Chairman, John Perry; Claire Ricci serving as the Field Trial Secretary/Marshall; Joe Sikorski, Stakes Manager; Joanne Perry Reporter/Marshall; Lisa Pollock and Jeff Currier for coordinating the bird planting. Robin Shadle, our wrangler, thanks for providing horse power. Thank you to Leslie Hunt for announcing braces and storing the prize dog food; and Sue Way, for providing delicious breakfast and lunches, along with awesome cookies. Anthracite hosted Monday night s dinner from Nonna s Restaurant: salad, lasagna, Italian cacciatore, garlic bread and for dessert, Lisa s famous carrot cake. Thank you again to our sponsors, the competitors and to everyone who volunteered; we greatly appreciate all that you did to make the event successful and fun. There were 27 dogs entered and 26 dogs ran. Gus was sick in brace 3a, Big White moved up from brace 13. We completed seven braces Monday; four in the morning, three in the afternoon. On Tuesday four braces were completed in the morning and we finished in the afternoon. The Winners: Marjo s Leftover (Haley) John Perry Magnum High Velocity (Gauge) Vince Anderson Diamond Hill Dangerous Weapon (Stu) Lisa Pollock Piney Run Lilly (Lilly) Ben Lorenson Thank you to our sponsors Purina and Garmin/Tritronics for their continued support. Purina fuels many of the competitors and provides financial support for the event. Garmin engineers collars that build a better dog. The winners received Purina Pro-Plan dog food and Garmin provided an electronic training collar. With their continued support this allows us to host quality events such as this one.
