A year ago we were talking about a downturn in the cattle market, but what a difference a year can make. We are seeing record prices for weigh-up cattle as well as feeder cattle. Bred females and replacement heifer calves are selling higher than anyone thought possible. I think the market is finally reflecting the smallest cowherd in the nation for several decades. The Red Angus breed has always excelled in maternal traits. Red Angus females (heifer calves and bred females) have been at the top of the market, but they are hard to find. Feddes and C-T females are second to none in the breed, as well as the industry. Easy fleshing, fertile, problem free cows are a must for us. We select for great females, and cull ruthlessly so the bulls we offer for sale should sire very functional daughters, with sound feet and legs, excellent fertility, and tight made udders. That adds up to less labor, more longevity, and more profit for producers. More feedlots are looking for Red Angus and Red Angus influence cattle because they have good feed conversions, grow rapidly and produce high quality carcasses. At Feddes and C-T we stress balance of all traits. We don t chase fads or extremes in any trait. We believe extremes in any trait will create major problems in other traits. We feed a high roughage ration to promote longevity in our bulls. The performance in this set of bulls is very good. Without a doubt this is the most consistent set of bulls we have offered for sale, from top to bottom. We have a good number of calving ease bulls, that still offer solid performance. There are also quite a number of top performance bulls that will add pounds to a calf crop. Over the last few years we have moderated our mature size but added depth of body, thickness and length. We clipped and ultrasounded right at 100 bulls. Also in the offering are four ½ blood Red Angus X Simmental bulls. That data will all be in the catalog as well as on our websites. Terms and Conditions 1. The terms of the sale are cash unless prior arrangements have been made. 2. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. 3. Any announcement from the block on sale day will take precedence over printed material. 4. Health certificates will be furnished for shipment anywhere in the United States. 5. Each animal becomes buyer s risk as soon as sold. Cattle will be cared for, for a reasonable length of time, at the ranch, at the buyers risk. 6. Retained Interest: All bulls will sell 1/2 interest and full possession. The buyer receives full possession and full salvage value. The seller has the right to collect semen at the buyers convenience, and the sellers cost. If the buyer wishes to share in the collection costs and revenues, that is his/her choice. 7. In case an adjustment is required on an animal, it will be made with a replacement animal of equal value to the animal in question or credit on the purchase of another animal. 8. Predicting Profit The Ranchers Guide to Completely Described Beef Production: Reproduction Growth Carcass Maintenance (Expected Progeny Differences) are the most powerful selection tool the beef industry has ever had. The use of has converted selecting range bulls from an art form to a science, better preparing cow/calf producers to make genetic decisions which may ultimately improve their profitability.
