The Leonberger Club of Great Britain invites you to join in their celebration of 30 years recognition of the LCGB by the Kennel Club. This will be an event to celebrate all aspects of ownership of our wonderful breed. On Saturday 2nd June we will hold our Open Show, commencing at 9.30 am, judged by Mrs Barabara Rose, a breed specialist. Following this we will hold our 4th Dog of the Year Match. Throughout both days there will be displays of Carting and Water-work and information will be available about the work of the club and it s various sub-committees, including advice about owning and having fun with Leonbergers. Dogs not entered into the show can be registered as spectator dogs on the day. In the evening, at the same venue, we are holding a celebratory meal. Tickets are on sale at 10.00 per person and you will be able to book this through Fosse Data when you enter you dogs, or by sending a cheque to Mrs M Jephcott using the show entry form. You do not have to enter your dog in the show to join us for this event and all are welcome. There is no bar available on site, so please bring whatever you would like to drink along with you for the evening. The venue is available until 10.00 pm and camping is available on site. This can be booked through Stoneleigh Lodge at http://www.stoneleighparklodge.com / Telephone: 02476 690123. On Sunday, 3rd June we will hold our 17th Championship Show with judging commencing at 10.00 am. Our Judges for the Day, both breed specialists, are Glenda Smith judging dogs and Wanda Oud, our Club Patron, judging bitches. As usual, at lunch time we will have a parade of the past years new Champions and a puppy walk for puppies from 4-6 months. We are also using the opportunity to hold a Specialist Breed Seminar which will be our first using the kennel Clubs new format - for further information please contact Sarah Sevastopulo at oldholbans@hotmail.com Finally, I would ask you all to send positive thoughts for the weather for the weekend. This will be the first opportunity for a long time to hold our Championship Show outside and we are keeping everything crossed for a lovely sunny summer Day (or at least no rain!!!). Please come along to support the club and enjoy meeting many like-minded Leonberger enthusiasts. We look forward to seeing you there J

Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. Spectator dogs can be admitted on the day by registering with the Secretary; a fee of 5.00 will be payable at the time. 18. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 19. Should a Judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Committee reserve the right to appoint another Judge to fulfil the duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no fees will be refunded. 20. A Judge's decision is final except in the case of fraud or misrepresentation or when a bona fide mistake has been made by the Judge. 21. The Committee will not be in any way responsible for any loss, injury or damage arising out of the holding of the Show whether as a result of accident or any other cause, nor from any act or omission of themselves, their officers, agents, servants or others and it is on this understanding only that entries are received. 22. All dogs must be brought with a suitable collar and lead and must be properly supervised at all times. 23. Judges are instructed and empowered to withhold a prize in any class if, in their opinion, the dog or dogs entered to not possess sufficient merit. 24. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 25. Exhibitors showing dogs are not permitted to hold conversation with the Judge during the competition and any exhibitor who persists in addressing the Judge, after being requested not to do so by the Ring Steward, the Judge or Show Manager, may be disqualified and any prizes awarded to his or her dog forfeited. No person other than an exhibitor (Officials excepted) will be allowed in the ring during judging. 26. The committee can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by standholders at the Show and remind exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 27. Parents will be responsible for the actions of their children. Any damage or injury caused to third parties or Club property will be the sole responsibility of the parents and The Leonberger Club cannot be held responsible for the actions of exhibitors', members' or guests' children. 28. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 29. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees. 30. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.

DIRECTIONS TO STONELEIGH The entrance to Stoneleigh Park is on the B4113, Stoneleigh Road between Coventry and Leamington Spa. It can be accessed from the A46 following the signs for Stoneleigh Park, National Agricultural Centre or NAC or from the A45 following the signs for Stoneleigh. As you drive into the main entrance of Stoneleigh Park the Kennel Club (KC) building is on the left hand side. Free car parking is behind the KC building. NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS/DOG OWNERS The KC Board has given detailed consideration to the problems arising when dogs are left in vehicles at shows. It is considered that the act of causing suffering to a dog as a result of it being left in a car by an exhibitor or the owner of a registered dog on a hot day could be considered discreditable or prejudicial to the interests of the canine world and could form the basis of a case under Kennel Club Rule A42. Remedial action will be taken in the event of dogs left in vehicles being found in a distressed condition.
