He is tan and white. So far he and Eddy are compatible. Justin seems well adjusted after a week in his new home. Very much the companion and seems satisfied to work for praise. Very good temperament. Fee is only $5.00 for non-members Canine Good Citizen Test 1276 8 th Street at the corner of 8 th & Derbyshire The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen Test is to ensure that our favorite companion, the dog, can be a respected member of the community because it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in the home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs. The program embraces both purebred and mixedbreed dogs, as the anti-canine sentiment does not discriminate between the purebred and the nonpurebred. Canine Good Citizen training is fun and useful. Through it, you and your dog will establish a closer bond, and your dog will have the added benefit of knowing how to please you. This test of your dog s manners and training is not a competition and does not require that you and your dog perform with precision. The American Kennel Club urges all dog owners to participate in this program, thereby assuring that our beloved dogs will always be welcome and respected members of the community. Page 7 June 2015 Chatter-Barks Want to Feel Good All Over? Be a Steward If you re suffering from a lack of praise and appreciation, you ll want to seriously consider signing up to steward at this summer s OCOD Obedience Trials, Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19. Every year we hear the same kind of praise from those who judge our trials and those who enter: Excellent stewards all weekend. Really GREAT stewards. We re spoiled. These are the best stewards we ve ever had. A number of club members turn up each year to work as stewards. They know as you will, if you ve never done it before that being a steward gets you a ring-side seat, up close and personal, for all the action. Plus lunch and goodies for stewards only If you re thinking of preparing your dog for obedience performance, there s no better way to learn the ways of the ring than to steward. And no experience is needed. We train This year, we ll have three obedience rings each day. Three judges. Novice, Open, Utility, and a few non-standard classes. We ll need table stewards to help the judges keep the paperwork in order, and ring stewards to do things like put out scent articles and gloves, take leashes, deliver dumbbells, set jump heights, and act as posts for the figure-8 exercises. And the main task: to keep the rings running smoothly and our judges happy. So if you d like to give stewarding a try, or come back for another enjoyable experience, please contact Chief Ring Steward Coralee Leon at 1coralee@earthlink.net. The appreciation will begin immediately
