All exercises are judged on lead, but it uses many of the signs used by the Advanced class. An exhibitor or dog may show in the A class for ONE year then MUST move on to the B class. Agility Time Limit The maximum time limit for all classes has been changed from three (3) minutes to two (2) minutes. Taking more then 2 minutes to run a course is an automatic disqualification. Most agility courses are designed to be run in one (1) minute or less. Age Limit An exhibitor must be at least nine (9) years old and can be in any grade to exhibit in the First Year Beginner class. Prior to 2018 the exhibitor had to be in at least the third grade. K-9 Royal Court Applicants MUST attend at least two (2) Dog Council meetings. Doggie Fun Facts (Reprinted from an old newspaper article found in the back of a drawer) Ever wonder why your dog has certain personality traits that may or may not match up with his breed? Perhaps the signs of the zodiac can explain his little quirks. Don t laugh, it s pet astrology and some people actually take it very seriously. Listed are the first six zodiac signs, the next six will be in the next newsletter. Capricorn (Dec 21 to Jan 20) Dependable and obedient, they seem like old souls. They have lived a thousand lifetimes and know how to get their way. No problem is too big to solve or get around. Very serious-minded, they worship their masters unless they disagree with your command. Then they will outwait you until you forget and get their way. Not big on exercise or play, but playfulness increases with age. Aquarius (Jan. 21 to Feb. 18) Attentive and interested in anything that interests you. Will actually look like they are paying attention to you when you speak to them. Are intrigued by children, but not for long. Easily distracted, but only because they have too much going on in their brain to concentrate on the task at hand. Love the water, hate the cold. Can be unpredictable and stubborn, but can sense a change in their owner s mood or physical well-being, often before the owner does. Pisces (Feb. 19 to Mar. 20) The perfect people pet. Good listeners, intuitive companions, they soothe by their loving, warm natures. Highly adaptable, they like change, However, they tend to be unsure of their abilities when learning new routines or behaviors, so heavy praise is needed. Very empathetic and loyal. Prefer adults to children. Nurturers, they like open spaces and tend to roam. Easily offended when scolded. Aries (Mar. 21 to Apr. 19) Completely trusting, they believe more in your abilities than you do. These dogs have lots of energy and use it to the fullest extent to get and keep your attention. Very protective of their owners, they will defend their people and their home fiercely. Taurus (Apr. 20 to May 20) Devotion and loyalty to their family is paramount to their existence. They stay calm in times of crisis and have a nurturing nature. Not openly affectionate, they will not leave the side of an ill or hurt family member. Stubborn, almost to the point of being immovable if they do not want to do something. Tend to be overweight and passive and do not like change in their habitat or routine. Gemini (May 21 to Jun. 21) Always alert and full of energy, these pets are easy to distract and can be unpredictable. They have to check out everything and everyone. They love human companionship lots of it. Owners often have to make them rest, as they are kinetic in nature and cannot be confined for very long.
