LIABILITY: It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such cases, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The club, hotel, and any of their agents or employees will assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers, or to any of their dogs or property, & further assume no responsibility for injury to children. The Clubs and Hotel shall not be liable for damage to motor vehicles made in any effort to rescue a dog from overheating or suffocation due toinadequate ventilation. RINGSIDE: Dogs may arrive at any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges will not wait for any dog. Owners and agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs at ringside when their class is called. The club, judges, stewards and secretary have no obligation or responsibility to announce for or locate dogs that are not at ringside when required. Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. 2

ENTRY INFORMATION Entry fees: (including AKC recording/event service fees) Conformation...$30 first entry, $25 add l class entry Sweepstakes... $25 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy... $25 Junior Showmanship...Free All entry fee checks or money orders (US funds) are to be made payable to CAPER. One check is sufficient for all enclosed entries. Entries are to be mailed to: BPCA/CAPER, 24902 Apple Rd, Waterford WI 53185-4832. Entries must be received by 6:00 pm CDT Wednesday September 12, after which time no entries may be accepted, cancelled, altered, or substituted. No telephone or verbal entries will be accepted. All changes and cancellations must be received in writing (email is acceptable) prior to closing, except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows published by the American Kennel Club. All entries must be on official AKC entry forms. Entries will be returned if they are illegible, incomplete, are submitted with incorrect fees, or are photocopied without the reverse side instructions and agreement included. Checks returned for insufficient fees will have the entry cancelled; acceptance of such an entry will only be made if the full fees, plus a $25 administrative fee, are paid via certified check or money order & received prior to the start of judging. Express & certified deliveries must include signature waiver permitting them to be left at the Secretary s address without receipt signature. Entries received without signature release will be refused. Entries with email addresses will be acknowledged with an email receipt. Confirmations and judging schedules will be emailed after closing. If you want a hard copy confirmation mailed, please note this on your entry. CAPER is not responsible for non-delivery of emails due to delivery errors or spam blockers, and no further efforts will be made. Refunds: Entry fees will not be refunded in the event of errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date; in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the veterinarian or judge, or barred from competition by the Event Committee; or in the event that extreme weather conditions, riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the Event Committee make it impossible to open or complete the show/trial. The full page of each entry form must be included, completely filled out and signed, or the entry will not be accepted. Payment can be made via PayPal or credit card by going to www. caper-dogs.com/paypalccpayment.htm and following the instructions there. Payment must include the $2 per class additional charge to be valid. Entry errors: Exhibitors are responsible for the correctness of entries. All entries which include an email address will be sent an entry verification email shortly after receipt. All errors will be corrected prior to closing; exhibitor errors discovered after closing cannot be corrected. Overpayments of less than $5 per dog will not be refunded. Transfers: Dogs which, according to their owner s records, have completed the requirements for a championship, or higher level in Junior Showmanship, after the closing of entries for these events may be transferred to the higher class. Each of these transfer requests must be made to, and accepted by, the Secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of judging. First offered in 2013 by Jacqueline Carswell and Patty Newgard of Carnasserie Kennels, this beautiful 12 inch Silver Plated Georgian Cup Date Event rests on a 6 Cherry Wood Base. The Challenge Trophy is National Specialty Winner s trophy for the Berger Picard Club of America. Each year the name of the Best of Breed of the BPCA National Specialty along with the name of his/her owner(s) will be engraved on an individual plate attached to one of the Saturday & Sunday Herding Trial Sheepsmith Farm three sides. If a puppy is Best of Breed or Best of Winners, that puppy will automatically win Best Puppy. First place in each Bred by Exhibitor class will compete for Best Bred by Exhibitor. If a BBE entry is Best of Breed or Best of Winners, that entry will automatically win Best Bred by Exhibitor. Herding Titled Dogs Herding Titled Bitches Open to dogs/bitches with an AKC herding title (HT, PT, HS, HI, HX, HC). Entrants must be intact. Winners eligible to compete for Best of Breed. Class is judged on the merits of the offspring. Offspring must be entered in a regular or non-regular conformation class. AWARD OF MERIT: At the judge s discretion, one Award of Merit for every 20 champions entered in the Best of Breed competition may be awarded (maximum of 4). BOB, BOS, Selects, and Winners do not receive Awards of Merit. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP Novice class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have not won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Junior Showmanship Novice class at a licensed or member show. Open class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Junior Showmanship Novice class at a licensed or member show. Master class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition. The calendar for this class will be November 1 - October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. PLEASE NOTE: Juniors must include their AKC Junior Handler number on the entry blank. Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on the front and back of the entry form. SWEEPSTAKES No professional handlers will be allowed to show dogs in Sweepstakes unless the dog is owned or co-owned by the professional handler as of the closing date for the show for which the Sweepstakes entry is being made. Puppy Sweepstakes is open to all Berger Picard dogs/bitches who are at least 6 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the Sweepstakes. All dogs and bitches entered in Sweepstakes must also be entered in a Regular Class at this Specialty, at the regular entry fee. Puppies who, according to the owner(s) records, have completed their championships by the date of the show, are not eligible to be shown in the Sweepstakes Classes. FOUR-TO-SIX MONTH (BEGINNER PUPPY) COMPETITION The Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition shall be for Berger Picards that are four months of age but under six months on the day of the event. An AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for each entry. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol. Professional handlers are not permitted to exhibit in this class. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs/has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last 5 years. All entries must be received by the closing date. No entres will be taken at ringside. Titles - The Certificate of Merit (CM) title is an introductory title to AKC conformation events. Entrants in each breed shall compete for Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed. Winners of the Best of Breed in each of the individual breeds or varieties will be awarded points toward the CM title based on the number of dogs defeated in their breed or variety. BARN HUNT CLINIC Come experience the exciting new sport of Barn Hunt! This two hour clinic is geared towards dogs that are new to the sport and will teach the basic rules along with your dog getting experience with actual rats. It s open to Picards and other breeds. No registration with the Barn Hunt Association is needed for a clinic is necessary. The cost with be $15 per dog and spots are limited so sign up early.
