Entries Received: Rabbits: May 2 nd, 2015 Cavies: May 2 nd, 2015 Chickens: April 28 th, 2015 5-10 p.m. If you are traveling a long distance or have several animals, please keep in mind the building closes at 10:00 p.m. For direct auto delivery to Small Animal Barns, enter through Gate C off of Calle Real entering the fair grounds (by barns). (Rabbits coming in on May 2 nd, Parking can be purchased in advance for $5.00 in advance. Otherwise it will be $10.00 on site) Entries Released: Rabbits: May 2 nd, 2015 Cavies: May 2 nd, 2015 Chickens: May 3 rd, 2015 6:00pm 8:00pm For auto pickup, use same directions as above Entry Fees: See Individual Divisions Limit: None, Only two premiums paid per exhibitor per class. See Rule IV-6 of State Rules. Awards: See each department Santa Barbara Fair & Expo is a member of the American Poultry Association, American Bantam Association and the American Rabbit Association. All shows will be governed by the rules of each respective organization Poultry Local Rules 1. The fair reserves the right to limit the number of entries made by an exhibitor. 2. Youth poultry division is open to all exhibitors age 5 through 17. (Youth eligibility ceases at the end of the calendar year in which the exhibitor becomes 18 years of age.) Adult poultry division open to individuals 18 years and older. 3. A Youth exhibitor may not show birds in both Youth and Adult Divisions. 4. Exhibitors who enter the adult division who are under 18 years of age are no longer considered Youth in any future Santa Barbara Fair & Expo poultry shows and are subject to rules and regulations of the Adult Division (minimum age 14). General Rules 5. Judging shall be by comparison and in accordance with the latest published standards. Decisions of the judges shall be final. APA/ABA/ARBA EXHIBITORS OR THEIR AGENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO CONVERSE WITH THE JUDGES WHILE JUDGING IS IN PROGRESS. 6. All birds must be numbered with LEGIBLE, NUMBERED BANDS prior to cooping in at the fair. The number of this band MUST be the same as shown on the entry form. Duplicate numbers must not be used on birds of the same variety. Numbered bands are available in most feed stores. 7. Birds substituted must be same breed, variety, age, and sex as the original entry. 8. All crates must be removed from the showroom as soon as birds are transferred to show coops. 9. All birds will be shown in suitable coops (long tailed bantam males will be provided large coops). The right is reserved to coop double, females of the same variety, owned by one exhibitor. 10. Feed will be furnished by the Fair. Birds will be cared for by Fair personnel. 11. Eggs laid will become the property of the Fair. 12. Release card must be obtained from the poultry office before birds will be allowed to leave the Fair grounds. Birds will not be released until the end of the show except in case of illness in the bird as determined by the poultry supervisor. 13. Birds not called for by 8 p.m. Sunday, May 3 rd, 2015 will be disposed of by management. 14. All exhibits are entered and shown at the owner's risk. The fair is not responsible for loss of fire, accident, theft or providential destruction. Every precaution will be taken to eliminate danger and mistakes in handling and return of stock. 15. Exhibitors desiring to sell birds are responsible for their own sales. No sales will be handled by fair personnel. NO FOR SALE SIGN WILL BE ALLOWED ON CAGES PRIOR TO JUDGING. Sale birds will not be released until 6:00 PM, Sunday May 3 rd. Purchasers must present a bill of sale in order to obtain a release card from the poultry office. 16. Limit Of Entries: There is no limit of entries, however, please be reminded that Rule IV-6 of the State Rules prevails. 17. ANY BIRD WITH LICE, MITES, OR FLEAS OR WHICH ARRIVES IN THE SHOWROOM DISEASED WILL BE IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM THE SHOWROOM AND WILL NOT BE JUDGED. Rules: RABBIT DEPARTMENT 1. All Animals Must Be Identified By Permanent Ear Markings conforming with the information on the entry form. Any duplication of ear markings by one exhibitor in the same CLASS must be eliminated and the change recorded on the judging sheet Before Judging. 2. Animals will be shown and judged in the proper Division and for breed, variety, age and sex only. If no class is offered, no awards may be made. Rabbits that are disqualified because of permanent defects, deformities or blemishes, and those absent at the time of judging do not count when computing the number of exhibitors in the variety. 3. A judge may eliminate (excuse) a rabbit from competition because of temporary or curable defects but the rabbits should be counted as an entry. 4. The general, local and state rules, found elsewhere in this premium list apply to this department. Please read them carefully. 5. Eligibility: Youth Department entries are open to youth 5-17 yrs of age as of January 1, 2015. Adult Department rabbit entries are open to individuals 18 yrs and older. 6. Limit of Entries: There is a limit of 5 entries per class; however, please be reminded that State Rule VIII-4 clearly specifies that husband and wife must be considered as one exhibitor. Any substitutions subject to Special Rule No.II-7. 7. Entries: Entries will be accepted immediately following the issuance of this premium list and until the specified entry CLOSING TIME OF April 11, or before if capacity of the department has been reached. All entries must be plainly marked to eliminate mistakes. Animals not marked with a legible and permanent tattoo in the left ear will be barred from competition and entry fee will be forfeited. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to have this done prior to arrival. 8. Entry Form: All entries must be made on 19th District Agricultural Association entry forms. Substitutions: May be made only in the same CLASS, SEX AND VARIETY of the original entry by the original exhibitor and may be made without penalty if completed at the time of animals being checked into the show. a. When a veterinarian's certificate or reasonable evidence of illness, accident or death of an animal is presented, without limit as to number; OR b. When no more than two substitutions are made by an exhibitor in one division, a penalty of $5.00 must be made for each substitution made within the 24 hour period prior to the time of judging or in excess of two in the same division. All animals that are not legal substitutions must be removed from the premises. 10. Ownership: All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor 30 days prior to entry, otherwise, the exhibitor forfeits all entry fees, prize money and awards together with the right to exhibit at this show. 11. Handling of Exhibits: No person will be permitted to handle exhibits during judging without permission of the show officials. SMALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITS 12. Interference with Judging: Any exhibitor interfering with the judge or judging in any way will have all of his rabbits disqualified, and entry fees forfeited. 13. Weighing: Rabbits will be weighed at the discretion of the judge at the time of judging. 14. Unhealthy Specimens: Unhealthy Specimens will be isolated and must be removed by exhibitor at earliest convenience. 15. Positively no breeding permitted for duration of the fair. 16. Condition of Exhibits: All exhibits must be shown in their natural condition. Any violations of this rule shall exclude such specimen from competition and result in the withholding of any premium award. 17. Owner's Risk: All exhibits are entered and shown at the owner's risk. The 19th District Agricultural Association will not be responsible for loss by fire, accident theft or providential destruction. Every precaution will be taken to eliminate danger and mistakes in handling and return of stock. 18. Sale of Exhibits: Only animals properly entered will be permitted in the show room. Advertising cards will be permitted, and not more than one card per cage. 19. A Release Slip Must Be Obtained from the Small Livestock superintendent before animals will be released. Animals must be picked up by 8 p.m., May 3 rd, 2015. 20. Credentials: Exhibitor's will be issued one single day credential.
