Monday, September 4 th - 6:00 PM-9:00 PM Final Release of All Small Animals... Tuesday, September 5 th - 8:00 AM-12 Noon MISSION STATEMENT OF CSF WILD BIRD SHOW THE COLORADO STATE FAIR WILD BIRD SHOW is designed to offer a competitive setting to show live wild type birds against the standard for that species, subspecies, or mutation. In this way, bird owners can breed their birds with these standards in mind. It will also provide a forum for wild birds to be displayed to the general public to try to generate interest in Aviculture. Due to the very fragile, flighty, and unpredictable nature of wild type birds, the Colorado State Fair has gone to great lengths to make every effort to provide adequate housing that offers some degree of safety for the birds. This includes keeping the general public barricaded a safe distance away from the show birds so as not to unduly disturb them. In order to offer the most protection for all birds entered in the show, the owners of any show birds will fall under these same restrictions and will not be allowed to cross the barricades, except under the supervision, or with the express permission of Colorado State Fair Wild Bird Show Staff. However, even with all these safeguards in place the Colorado State Fair cannot be held liable or responsible in the event that birds become injured or killed due to unforeseen circumstances. COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS: All entrants must have read and be familiar with the Colorado State Fair General Competition Requirements, General Livestock Competition Requirements, and Health requirements. When applicable, any association rules shall apply. Health Requirements and Examination: In State ALL birds are subject to health inspection by a representative of the State Veterinarian s office upon entry and during the fair. Any birds found showing evidence of infectious, contagious, or communicable diseases may be immediately withdrawn from the CSF and/or held in quarantine at the owner's risk and expense until properly treated and recovered, or until properly released to owner's premises following treatment. The CSF reserves the right to test birds for disease as is determined necessary. IRS AND COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE COMPLIANCE: In order to comply with the Colorado Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service tax-reporting requirements, a properly completed W-9 form will be requested when premium and/or sale amounts due to any one exhibitor exceed $599.00. The W9 must list the exhibitor s legal name and Social Security Number. Premium and/or sale checks will not be released by the Colorado State Fair until a requested W-9 form is received. Unloading and Pickup of Small Animals: All Small Animals (Poultry, Rabbits, Pigeons, and Exotic Birds) will be received at the Small Animal Building. Enter the fair grounds at Gate #2 (Arroyo Avenue). There will be a staging area located in the VIP parking lot. Exhibitor vehicles will not be allowed on the Fair grounds. To request assistance in transport of animals from parking area to the check-in, go to the Small Animal Building and check with either the Poultry Office or the Rabbit Office. CSF personnel will assist in this transport. NO exceptions.

Wild Bird Show Standards: All birds will be judged against the accepted standards set forth in the Gamebird Federation s Pheasant Standards book, The Pheasants of the World by Jean Delacour, a Monograph of the Pheasants by W. Beebe, The Quails Partridges and Francolins of the World by Johnsgard, The Grouse and Quails of North America by Johnsgard, The Atlas of Quails by Alderton, and the Waterfowl of the World by Jean Delacour. YOUTH Competition: Youth ages 8 to 18 are eligible to compete. Out-of-state exhibitors are welcome. All specimens competing must be entered in the name of the actual owner. A violation of this rule will cause forfeiture of any and all awards and/or premiums that might have been awarded. Entry forms must include the Breed, Variety, Age, and sex of bird. Handling of Birds: No birds are to be handled by anyone other than exhibitor of the bird, the judge, or Official Exotic Bird Show Staff. Exhibitor Number: Each exhibitor will be given a number. The Coop Tags will have the exhibitor s number on them with no other reference to ownership of the bird. When possible, it is suggested that birds have a numbered leg band for identification purposes and this number entered on the entry blank in the space provided. Colorado State Fair is not responsible for birds that are not properly identifiable. Each exhibitor is responsible to notify the Superintendent if a band number change is made. Band changes must be given to the superintendent at the time of cooping and noted on Coop Tag prior to judging. Leg bands must be on bird at time of judging. Sales of Exotic & Wild Birds: A Sales Office will be operated by Colorado State Fair personnel for the sale of birds. The Colorado State Fair management offers this sales opportunity to exhibitors as a service only. The sale times will be posted in the showroom. The Colorado State Fair is NOT LIABLE for any sales prices or postings by the exhibitor. Completion of a Small Animal Sales Receipt is binding to both the exhibitor and buyer. An exhibitor is expected to place correct special remarks or sale conditions on the coop tag for any bird that is for sale and any special sale conditions or special remarks should be noted on Coop Tag. Due to the fragile nature of the birds, the Superintendent will assist anyone wishing to purchase a bird. The Colorado State Fair is not responsible for sale birds once they have been removed from the Small Animal Building. All sales will be charged a 10% commission per bird. The minimum sale price is $10.00 per bird. If an exhibitor places a bird for sale at less than $10.00, a commission of $1.00 will still be charged. Any private treaty sale and/or trade made by exhibitors will be charged $5.00 per bird for office recording fees. NO PERSONAL CHECKS --- Cash, Cashier s Checks, or Money Orders only. ATM s are conveniently located on grounds. Release of Birds: No birds will be allowed to leave the building without a written release from the Superintendent. Colorado State Fair is not responsible for sale birds once they are removed from the Small Animal Building. Feed & Water: All exhibits will be fed, watered and cared for in uniform coops by the Colorado State Fair Official Exotic Bird Show Staff at no charge to exhibitors. Premiums: There is no limit to the number of animals an exhibitor may enter in this show or in any one of these classes. Premiums will be paid in accordance with the premium schedule listed in this division. Use Division and Class Numbers on entry form. Eggs: The Superintendents and assistants will gather all eggs laid during the show. All eggs will become the property of the Colorado State Fair. All birds left after Tuesday, September 5 th will become the property of the Colorado State Fair.
