CROATIA 2008 PROGRESS REPORT Good progress can be reported with regard to the placing on the market of food and feed. Croatia carried out a first assessment of all food establishments with regard to their compliance or noncompliance with EU standards. This was a key element for the accession negotiations and will enable the setting up of a national programme for the upgrading of establishments for food of animal origin, such as slaughterhouses, meat processing plants, dairies and fish.
