TO THE SPECTATORS Ethics and good sportsmanship require the hunter to dispatch the game as quickly and humanely as possible. Sportsmanship also demands the retrieval of all shot game. To this end these dogs are trained. The group of spectators following the dogs afield is the Gallery, and leading the gallery is the Field Marshall who announces the dogs as they come up to the line, and will also keep you in line. As live ammunition is used in a spaniel Hunt Test, it is imperative to listen to the Field Marshall s instructions You are welcome to join the gallery. Two rules apply. One, an item of blaze orange clothing (no less than a blaze orange hat, a vest is preferred) is required to be worn at all times by participants and spectators. If you do not have any orange, ask, and someone will loan you something. Next, know where the line is, so when you walk to the gallery, you will not be interfering with the Hunt Test. Again, just ask and someone will guide or direct you. Please do not applaud or make any unnecessary noise while in the gallery, especially while the dogs are working the course. All dogs entered must be on a leash when not running. Absolutely no dogs allowed on the grounds which are not entered in the competition.
