Lesson 6 2 nd Grade Writers Club Family Similes Students wrote similes about their family members. Writers use similes to describe something or someone by making comparisons. Our Writers Club students were required to describe their family members by making comparisons to something not human.

Brenna L. s Family Similes My mom is as good at doing nails as a bee is at flying. My dad is as good at doing work as a cat is at purring. I am as pretty as a red, sparkly rose. My cousin Hannah s hair is as brown as a scrumptious brownie. My cousin, Jackson, is as tiny as a button. My cousin, Nathan, is as tall as a giraffe. My cousin, Kyle, is as cute as a candy sweetheart.

Alex P. s Family Similes My mom is as pretty as a butterfly and as colorful as a frog. My dad is as good at fixing things as a bat is at flying. My brother, Chaz, is as nice as a flower.
