ABS Piranha subersible grinder pup 08 and 09 1 General 1.1 Appliation areas The axiu allowable teperature of the ediu puped is 40 C The subersible wastewater pups of the MF/Piranha series are reliable quality produts designed for the following appliations: Puping of lear water For blokagefree puping of liquids whih have a high proportion of solid or fibrous atter present. These pups ay not be used for the puping of flaable or explosive fluids. Before using aggressive fluids hek that the aterials used in the pup are resistant to the partiular fluid being puped. 1.2 Tehnial Data Maxiu noise level 70 db. The unit should never be raised or lowered by the Power able. The unit is fitted with a lifting devie to whih a hain and shakle ay be attahed for transport purposes. ABS Piranha subersible grinder pup 08 and 09 4 Set up and Installation The All relevant regulations overing sewage puping installations and, where appliable, explosionproof installations ust be oplied with. able dut to the ontrol panel should be ade gastight by filling with foa after the power supply and ontrol iruit ables have been laid. Partiular attention ust be paid to the safety regulations overing work in losed areas in sewage plants as well as good general tehnial praties. 4.1 Disharge Line The disharge line ust be installed in opliane with the relevant regulations. DIN 1986/100 and EN 12056 applies in partiular to the following: The disharge line should be fitted with a bakwash loop (180 bend) loated above the bakwash level and should then flow by gravity into the olletion line or sewer. The disharge line should not be onneted to a down pipe. No other inflows or disharge lines should be onneted to this disharge line. ABS Piranha subersible grinder pup 09 and 09 4.3 Eletrial Connetion Before oissioning an expert should hek that one of the neessary eletrial protetive devies is available. Earthing, neutral, earth leakage iruit breakers, et. ust oply with the regulations of the loal eletriity supply authority and a qualified person should hek that these are in perfet order. The power supply syste on site ust oply with VDE or other loal regulations with regard to rosssetional area and axiu voltage drop. The voltage stated on the naeplate of the pup ust orrespond to that of the ains The power supply able ust be proteted by an adequately diensioned slowblow fuse orresponding to the rated power of the pup. The inoing power supply as well as the onnetion of the pup itself to the terinals on the ontrol panel ust oply with the iruit diagra of the ontrol panel as well as the otor onnetion diagras and ust be arried out by a qualified person. All relevant safety regulators as well as general good tehnial pratie ust be oplied with. For use in the open air, the following VDE regulations apply: Subersible pups used outdoors ust be fitted with a power able of at least 10 length. Other regulations ay apply in different ountries. Pups for use in swiing pools, garden ponds and siilar, ust oply with European Standard 60335, Part 2, protetion lass I. When three phase units are being oissioned for the first tie and also when used on a new site, the diretion of rotation ust be arefully heked by a qualified person. When heking the diretion of rotation, the subersible pup should be seured in suh a anner that no danger to personnel is aused by the rotating ipeller, or by the resulting air flow. Do not plae your hand into the hydrauli syste! The When diretion of rotation should only be altered by a qualified person. arrying out the diretion of rotation hek as well as when starting the unit pay attention to the START REACTION. If the leads are onneted in aordane with the iruit diagra and lead designations, the diretion of rotation will be orret.. 4.3.3 Changing diretion of rotation The safety hints in the previous setions ust be observed! The diretion of rotation should only be altered by a qualified person. If the diretion of rotation is inorret then this is altered by hanging over two phases of the power supply able in the ontrol panel. The diretion of rotation should then be reheked The diretion of rotation easuring devie onitors the diretion of rotation of the ains supply or that of an eergeny generator 5 Coissioning The safety hints in the previous setions ust be observed! Before oissioning the unit should be heked and a funtional test arried out. Partiular attention should be paid to the following: Have the eletrial onnetions been arried out in aordane with regulations? Is the otor overload swith orretly set? Was the sup leaned out?

Are the level ontrols funtioning orretly? Are the required gates valves (where fitted) open? Do the nonreturn valves (where fitted) funtion easily? Does the pup sit orretly on the pedestal? Are the swithing On and swithing Off levels set orretly? 6 Maintenane Before oening any aintenane work the pup should be opletely disonneted fro the ains by a qualified person and are should be taken that it annot be inadvertently swithed bak on. When arrying out any repair or aintenane work, the safety regulations overing work in enlosed areas of sewage installations as well as good general tehnial praties should be followed. The aintenane hints given here are not designed for doityourself repairs as speial tehnial knowledge is required. Lubriatedforlife ball bearings together with onitoring devies ensure optiu pup reliability provided that the pup has been onneted and operated in aordane with the operating instrutions. Should, nevertheless, a alfuntion our, do not iprovise but ask your ABS ustoer servie departent for assistane. This applies partiularly if the pup is ontinually swithed off by the urrent overload in the ontrol panel or by the alar. Regular inspetion and are is reoended to ensure a long servie life. The ABS servie organisation would be pleased to advise you on any appliations you ay have and to assist you in solving your puping probles. The ABS warranty onditions are only valid provided that any repair work has been arried out in ABS approved workshop and where original ABS spare parts have been used. 6.2 Piranha Shredding syste The shredding syste of the Piranha is a wearing part, and as suh ay need to be replaed. A redution in utting perforane an redue the output. We reoend that the shredding be inspeted regularly. This is partiularly so if sewage ontaining sand is being puped.regular inspetion and are is reoended to ensure a long servie life. ABS Piranha subersible grinder pup 08 and 09 6.3 Coentary on aintenane of Lifting Stations in aordane with EN 12056. It is reoended that the lifting station be inspeted onthly and its funtion heked. In aordane with EN regulations, the lifting station should be aintained by a qualified person at the following intervals: in oerial preises every three onths. in apartent bloks every six onths. in a single faily hoe one a year. In addition we reoend that a aintenane ontrat be taken out with a qualified opany. 6.4 Oil filling and Oil hanging The oil haber between the otor and the hydrauli setion has been filled at the works with lubriating oil. In the ase of fixed installation, we reoend that the funtioning of the autoati level ontrol syste be heked regularly. By swithing the seletion swith (swith setting HAND ) the sup will be eptied. If deposits of dirt are visible on the floats then these should be leaned. After leaning, the pup should be rinsed out with lear water and a nuber of autoati puping yles arried out.
