Wound Product Formulary NHS Liverpool Community Health (LCH) is committed to supporting the provision of quality care for the management of patients with wounds. The aim of the formulary is: To promote cost effective, evidence based wound care practice to optimise patient care To promote continuity and rational wound care prescribing practices by clinicians employed within LCH. ANTIMICROBIAL DRESSING Topical antimicrobial wound products may be used in the management of critically colonised or infected wounds (in conjunction with systemic antibiotics). There is little robust evidence to support the efficacy of one antimicrobial above another and a decision should be made of the product that provides the optimum wound environment. However prolonged use should be avoided and the use of antimicrobial dressings should be reviewed after 2 weeks.
