We have the basic classes covered but we need an assistant for our Advanced Manners/Intro to Obedience class on Monday nights at 8 PM. Looking for someone who knows a little about the obedience ring who is able to motivate students to go the one step further out of the safety of our classes and into the ring. If you are that person, please contact Barbara Reichenbach. We are also looking for Saturday programs and persons to conduct them. If you have a special skill that you would like to share with others, please contact Barbara Reichenbach with the date and program that you would like to conduct so that we can get these programs going for our club.

LAWRENCEVILLE KENNEL CLUB JULY 18, 2017 The President called the meeting to order at 7:34 PM Members present: Judy Wilson, Bob LaBerge, Susan Saulvester, Gail LaBerge, George Cooper, Carol Ochs, and Barbara Reichenbach. Absent: Liz Hallsworth. The Board went into Executive Session at 7:36 PM, and existed at 7:47 PM. Nothing reported out. Minutes from the June Board meeting accepted as published. President s Report: The President stated she had received a thank you letter from the Georgia Canine Coalition, Inc. thanking LKC for the donation to the GCC. Letter to be published in the newsletter. Report of Secretary: Information e-mails from AKC have been shared with the membership. The Secretary has notified AKC of the list of LKC Officers and Board members. Update of Membership list will be sent to AKC. Report of the Treasurer: Balance in the checking account is $57,722.00. The Treasurer reported that she had finished filling out the taxes for 2016 and will mail at appropriate time. Committee Reports: Show: The President reported that the Cluster Board meeting went well. She also stated that the Cluster agreement submitted by LKC was adopted with very few changes. Gail to send copies of the LKC submitted document to the new LKC Board members. There will be a Heart and Eye Clinic at the August Cluster. More information to be obtained on this event. Legislative: Senator Renee Unterman will be presenting the Best In Show Trophy at the August LKC show.

LKC Board Meeting Minutes cont. July 18, 2017 Page 2 Membership: The Chair gave a report on the renewals received for the 2017 year. Judy Wilson will step down as Chair after this renewal period. An announcement will be made at the July General Meeting to see who might be interested in the Membership Chair position. Events: An announcement will be made at the July General Meeting to see if anyone is interested in the Jonny K run. The Atlanta Pet Expo will be held March 24 and 25 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. The Events Chair will investigate this event for possible participation by LKC. Training: The Chair submitted a length report. The committee has one vacancy and is waiting on a reply from an LKC member whether they will accept the position. The Chairman listed the following as classes that will be held starting in September: S.T.A.R. Puppy, Advance Manners/Intro to Obedience, Basic Manners, Intermediate Manners/CGCA, CGC, Conformation, Rally, Trick Dog, and a number of special Saturday morning classes that will be announced and offered during the session. The Training Schedule will be announced. The Training Committee was asked to submit recommended requirements for a member to obtain a discount for classes they wish to take. Unfinished Business: Code of Ethics: The proposed changes to the LKC Code of Ethics have been sent to the membership for review and are to be discussed at the July meeting. It was noted that a word change should be offered at the meeting that better reflects what is being discussed in one sentence. Website and Facebook: Barbara Reichenbach will be the Webmaster. An event area has been created on the LKC Facebook page. A discussion was held on the best suitable method for handling payment for hosting of the website and for payment of the domain. Motion to purchase a prepaid credit card for the Webmaster. Motion made by Susan Saulvester and Seconded by Barbara Reichenbach. A discussion of the motion followed with an amendment to the motion offered by Bob LaBerge. The amended Motion read: Motion to purchase a prepaid credit card

Motion made to accept the amended motion by Bob LaBerge, Seconded by Barbara Reichenbach. Passed unanimously with the President abstaining. Appointment of one Board Member to the LKC Board to finish current term to the next election. Motion to elect Peggy Watson to fill the open Board position until the next election. Motion made by Susan Saulvester, Seconded by George Cooper. Passed unanimously with the President abstaining. By-laws Review: The Chair reported that she would ask Darlene Kelly to be a member of the committee and an announcement at the July meeting would be made asking who might wish to serve on the committee to see Gail LaBerge. Current members are: Gail LaBerge, Chair, Susan Saulvester, Darlene Kelly. Standing Rules and Duties of Officers and Job Descriptions for Chair positions in LKC: There was a reminder that Committee Chairs and Officers have been asked to create a list of responsibilities for their committee and office with a description of those responsibilities, and to send those descriptions to the Secretary by the September 2017 Board meeting. Motion to create standing motions using a three digit numbering system. Motion made by George Cooper and Seconded by Carol Ochs. A discussion followed and the motion was amended to have the system with a four digit numbering system. The system will have the first digit as the month, then the four-year digit and one digit at the end for the number of the motion for that month. Passed as amended unanimously with the President abstaining. Curb and Road Sign: Motion to have created an appropriated sized two sided sign with the LKC name and an arrow directing people to the LKC Building. Motion made by Gail LaBerge, Seconded by George Cooper. Passed unanimously with the President abstaining. New Business:

Passed unanimous with the President abstaining. Motion to approve the following instructors for LKC Classes: Judy Wilson, Barbara Reichenbach, Darin Myers, Bill Barnes, Bob LaBerge, Gail LaBerge, and George Cooper. Motion by Barbara Reichenbach, Seconded by George Cooper. Passed Unanimously with the President abstaining. Motion to adjourn. Motion made by Gail LaBerge, Seconded by Barbara Reichenbach. LAWRENCEVILLE KENNEL CLUB JULY 25, 2017 The President called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM. Speaker: Gail LaBerge introduced Dr. Samuel Franklin, MS, DVM, PhD, from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine, who spoke on Early diagnosis and treatment of hip dysplasia: everything you wish you knew if you were ever going to get another puppy Approval of May 2017 Minutes: A vote to table the minutes due to some members not receiving the June newsletter that published the May minutes. Passed with two opposed. Report of the Secretary: The Club members have been sent information received by AKC and the current list of Club officers and board members has been submitted to AKC. Report of Treasurer: Balance in Checking: $49,405.00. Treasurer reported that a sign has been order with the LKC name on it to be placed at the beginning of Oakland Industrial Ct. to direct people to the LKC Training Building. Report of Committees: Show: The Chairman, Liz Hallsworth, reported that help was needed on August 21, 7:00 PM, at the LKC Training Building to load items going to the Cluster show site. She gave a report on what is needed as far as assistance at the show and requested that if you can assist that you contact her. The LKC Secretary will send the membership a detailed list of areas you can volunteer to assist with and who to contact. The show chair reported that reserved grooming space for LKC members would be available near the hospitality room. Legislative: The Chair, Gail LaBerge, reported that Senator Renee Unterman would be the guest presenter of the LKC Best In Show trophy at the LKC show in August. Membership: The Chair, Judy Wilson, reported that the renewal period for LKC membership was drawing to a close. She stated that a new Chair for Membership was needed and if you were interested in the job, to please contact her. Two guests, Laurie Rozar and Beth Martin, were welcomed. Events: The Chair, George Cooper, listed the J run that had been announced before and reported that the Pet Expo would be held in 2018 at the Gwinnett County Fairground. If you are interested in chairing a booth for LKC or assisting at a booth for LKC please contact George.

LKC General Meeting Minutes cont. July 25, 2017 Page 2 Training: The Chair, Barbara Reichenbach, announced that the Fall Session would start with orientation on September 6. She announced that information would be posted on the website. A Variety of classes will be offered on Saturdays. If you are interested in being an instructor, please contact the Chair. Website: The Chair, Barbara Reichenbach, announced that the new LKC website was up and running. Bylaw Committee: The President announced that a committee has been formed to review the LKC bylaws for updating purposes. The Chair will be Gail LaBerge. Susan Saulvester is another member. If you are interested in being on this committee, please contact Gail LaBerge. New Business: Ruth Baranowski presented information on how to receive award plaques for accomplishments by your dogs during the year dated June 1, 2017-May 31, 2017. She also presented information concerning the AKC Sportsmanship award. She will be sending out forms for the award plaques and bars along with information on how to nominate someone for the AKC Sportsmanship Award to the membership. The AKC Sportsmanship Award is voted on by the membership by secret ballot and presented at the LKC Awards dinner at the October General meeting. Forms for both the awards and for nominating someone will be due to Ruth by September 26. Code of Behavior of the Lawrenceville KC. A review of a proposed update of the LKC Code of Ethics. Motion to table by Gail LaBerge, Seconded by Jim Finley. Motion passed. Susan Saulvester gave a report on the condition of the LKC Building following rain coming into the building leaving water and mud in the building. Leslye Pinnell, Building Manager, will do a follow up on the condition of the mats in the building. They re being no further business; the President adjourned the meeting at 9:15 PM. Let s all come together to make sure we have an Awesome Dog Show. This is a brief schedule of events for the show and if you can help any day it would be wonderful! Monday, August 21st meet at the LKC building to load up equipment to take to the dog show. Meet at 7pm. I hope to have it all loaded and ready to go by 7:30pm. Tuesday, August 22nd, 10am, meet at the show site, that is in Jonesboro to get the building ready, we do thing like wrap poles, put up signs, set up vendor area and grooming area. This year I will reserve a grooming area near the Hospitality Room for LKC members. Wednesday, August 23rd I could use at least one volunteer, I am begging. We will have people to take the RV s to parking areas but need someone to help with check-in. Time for this job is 3pm to 10 pm. But if you can be there any part of the time please let me know. Thursday, August 24th Come show your dogs and have fun! Friday, August 25th Again Come show your dog but stay for BIS and clap for your favorite breed then help us set up for Saturday!!! Saturday, August 26th, this is our day and we want it to be the Best Ever! We need your help if only just 2 hours. We need our wonderful bakers to bring sweets. If you are not showing then come dressed in a gold shirt (blue) and nice slacks and I will put you to work. We will feed you lunch! You can contact the area you want to help directly if you would like! Carol Ochs needs assistance with setting up trophies. Please contact her at cochs@att.net. Friday and Saturday help needed. Bill Barnes needs assistance with setting up trophies for obedience and rally. He also needs assistance on Saturday during the show. Please contact him at senrab123bellsouth.net. It is a big place and we need signs taken down, equipment packed and loaded up, and tape taken up off the floor. I appreciate each and everyone who comes out to help with this event! LKC is the best kennel club in the metro area and we have such friendly helpful members. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such hard working people! See you at the show! LKC was one of the Clubs instrumental in founding the Georgia Canine Coalition, Inc. The GCC was originally called the Georgia Coalition of Dog Clubs. Therefore, the long time support and involvement in the GCC by the Lawrenceville Kennel Club is deeply appreciated.
