: Reading for Meaning 3 Guardian Tina decided to buy a dog to protect her house. First, she went to a dog show to look at different kinds of dogs. The people at the dog show recommended several types. She looked at Dobermans, chows, and German shepherds. Then Tina went to several pet stores and asked for more information. After much thought, Tina got a German shepherd. Before she brought her new pet home, Tina purchased a large dog bed. She also got several toys, a collar and leash, and some food. Within the first week, Tina took her new dog, Guardian, to a veterinarian. The vet started the shots that new puppies need. When Guardian was six months old, Tina put him in obedience school. Dave was saying, Look at those claws on its head! He was pointing to a beetle as long as his finger. 5
