P A G E 2 Plants Did you know that plants are organisms? Plants need sun, minerals, water, and air. The parts of a plant are roots, stem, and leaves. Each of the parts of a plant have their own job. The roots are the part of the plant that grows underground. The roots help hold the plant in the ground. The roots have a very important job. They take in water and minerals from the soil. They deliver the water and minerals to the stem. The stem is attached to the roots. The stem is the part that supports the plant. It carries food from leaves to other plant parts. The stem carries water and minerals from the roots. The stem helps the plant stand upright. Those are the part of the plant. The leaves are the part of the plant that uses gas from the air that is called carbon dioxide. It is the main food making part of a plant. It uses the energy from the sun. The leaves have chlorophyll which traps the energy from the sun. These are the leaves. The stem is the part of the plant that supports the plant. The stem carries food from leaves to other parts of the plant. It helps the plant stand upright. It carries water and minerals from the soil. This is the stem. The roots take in water and minerals from the soil. They help hold the plant in the ground. This plant part is the plant part that grows underground. These are the roots. I hope you learned a lot about plants. Thank you for reading. Life Cycle The stages of a life cycle are birth, growth and change, reproduction, and death. All organisms go through life cycles. Birth is when you are first born. Growth and change is when you grow and someday become an adult. Reproduction is making a new born animal/ human. And death is when you die. These are all the stages of the life cycle. T H E B R O W E R T I M E S

V O L U M E 1, I S S U E 1 P A G E 3 Penguin Research Penguins are excellent animals. They all live in the southern hemisphere. That is very close to the ocean. They have a black stripe across their neck. During mating season, they burrow, forming underground nesting colonies. There are 11 more species of penguins still out in this world. They all live in the Southern hemisphere. Fly Eagle, Fly The story Fly Eagle Fly is an African folktale. In the beginning the farmer was in the mountain tops looking for a baby calf, but he found an eagle egg. He took it home and when he got there, his kid told him that the baby calf had came here on its own. In the middle of the story, the farmers friend saw the eagle and the farmer thought it was a chicken, but the friend said it was an eagle. And his friend wanted to prove it. In the end of the story, the farmer and his friend went to the mountain tops that the farmers friend could prove that this chicken was an eagle. So the farmers friend let the eagle free and showed the farmer that it can fly like an eagle.

P A G E 4 How to Do the Cups and Balls Magic Trick Do you want to be a magician? I hope you do! Because this is a great how to on the cups and balls magic trick. You are going to need, 4 balls, 3 cups, and of course, hands! I hope you like this how to! Doing the cups and balls is very magical. First stack the cups and put a ball in the middle cup. Don t show the ball to the audience. Put the 3 cups face down on the table, so you must go fast unless the middle ball will fall out. Next, get another ball and put it on top of the middle cup. Then stack the 3 cups on top of the middle cup and tap the top cup. Lift the 3 cups and the ball should look like it penetrated through. Repeat these steps 3 times. On the 4 th the ball will be invisible!! Use your fingers to pick up the invisible ball (the ball is fake). Lay out the cups in a line and put the invisible ball on top of the middle cup and the ball will become visible because you repeat the steps again. If you liked this how to, scream, THIS HOW TO WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER READ!!! For extra fun, you can use popcorn and the invisible popcorn will turn real! Thank you for reading!!! Why Dogs Make Great Pets Do you have a dog or cat? Well I never had either, but I know how much fun they can be! If you get a pet, I prefer you get a dog. Dogs are active, they like to sleep with you, and much, much, more! Dogs have a lot of companionship. They help you when you need something. The passage states that dogs are good for people who don t live with anyone, and for people who Just need some company. Dogs often listen to you and are very helpful. These are a few reasons why dogs have companionship. Dogs will protect you if something happens. They will attack enemies that are hurting you. Based on the article, dogs will bark if there s danger. Dogs will also give you warnings of fire. All dogs need a daily exercise. The owner of the dog gets exercise by walking a dog. When you walk you dog it healthy for both you and the dog. Based on the article walking a dog also strengthens your muscles and bones. I hope you learned more about dogs than you thought! And remember, Dogs will always be there for you!! V O L U M E 1, I S S U E 1 P A G E 5 Smart Dog The genre of Smart Dog is humorous fiction. Charlie wanted his dog, Toby to learn to sit. Instead Toby flopped down anpd rolled over his stomach. Then his sister Eileen came out and made a deal with Charlie that if he couldn t teach his dog a trick, he ll have to do all of her chores all week long. When Charlie realized that sit isn t the right trick for Toby he tried stay and it worked. Then Toby saw a squirrel and started chasing it around the neighborhood. Charlie ran around to try and chase Toby but he couldn t catch him. When Toby was tired he lay down on some cool dirt in the shade. Then he remembered the biscuit and tried to find Charlie. He began following the path and suddenly he found Charlie and his mom. Water Conservation Water is very important to our world. If we use to much of it there will not be any more. You can conserve water by using tap water, and taking quick showers. Conserve means to use wisely not wastefully. A way I like to conserve is taking 3-5 minute showers. Based on the video you should turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth. Another way I like to conserve is to only use tap water because when we use water from bottles we use plastic which then goes to waste. Based on the article when you wash your hands you should turn off the water while washing your hands and reaching for the soap. I hope you learned a lot of ways to help our Earth! Thank you for reading and I hope you leaned a lot about conserving.
