(Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard). 2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. 3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e, age division, color division, weight division. 4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his/her name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to the AKC. (For complete rules, refer to Chapter 11, Section 3.) 5. Mixed Breed dogs entering classes for Agility, Obedience, and Rally trials should mark Breed as All- American Dog/Mixed Breed. Sire and Dam information shall remain blank for mixed breed entrants. In the event of errors or cancellation, no refund will be given after the published closing date. Make all checks and money orders payable to: Durham Kennel Club. Trial Secretary assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. NO ENTRY shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. A fee of $25 will be charged for any returned check. Any entry sent via express mail or any other similar service must be sent no signature required. By providing an email address on the entry form, you agree to electronic correspondence for confirmation letter and judging program. If you would like your confirmation letter and judging program sent via US Postal Service, you may either not provide your email address on your entry or you may specifically request snail mail. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Trial Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. From time to time, these are subject to change. Handlers are required to provide their own scented articles in a plastic bag, for the Novice class, one cotton glove or cotton sock. Handlers may utilize any method they feel is best to scent their article. Suggestions include rubbing the article on the handler s body. DOGS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER This trial is open to all dogs SIX (6) months of age or older that are registered with the American Kennel Club or that have AKC Limited Registration, Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privileges (PAL/ILP), an AKC Canine Partners listing number or approved Foundation Stock Service (FSS) breeds are eligible to participate. Dogs with a Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privileges (PAL/ILP) or an AKC Canine Partners listing number must be spayed or neutered in order to compete. Wherever the word dog is used in these regulations it includes both sexes. Dogs with physical challenges (including amputees) are eligible to participate provided that, in the opinion of the judge, the dog displays no sign of physical discomfort and can safely complete the search. Deaf and blind dogs are allowed to enter. Females in season may not participate, aggressive dogs, or dogs suffering from an injury, or illness which may affect the dog s physical 3 or mental performance may not participate. No dog shall compete if it is sutured, bandaged, or has any visible wounds.

ENTRY FEES PER DAY Each entry (includes a $3.50 AKC recording fee). $25 Mail entry forms and fees to: Edward L Wozniak 9514 Bridle Spur, Chapel Hill, NC 27516-5755 DIRECTIONS TO DURHAM KENNEL CLUB From I-85 North or South, take Guess Road (NC 157) exit off I-85, go approximately 8.5 miles north (away from Durham). The Durham Kennel Club drive is on the right side of the road and is marked by a blue sign. The gravel drive ends at the Durham Kennel Club building. Please make checks payable to DKC or Durham Kennel Club Entries and payments may be made online at durhamkennelclub.com (Events/Scent Work) Confirmations will be sent after entries close. No entries will be accepted by phone, email, fax, or hand delivery. Express mail entries must include the signature waiver allowing them to be left at the secretary s address. Inquiries may be directed to Edward Wozniak at elwsecy@att.net. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Illegible entries will not be processed and will be returned to the exhibitor. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry and the Trial Secretary will add a $25.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. WAIT LIST INFORMATION DURHAM KENNEL CLUB will offer a wait list to fill openings created by withdrawn entries after the trial s closing date/time. A maximum of 50 entries per day will be placed on the club's wait list. All entries, including wait listed entries, must be received by the Trial Secretary prior to April 6 2018. No entries may be withdrawn with a refund after closing on April 6 2018. If a withdrawn entry is replaced by a wait listed entry, a full refund will be issued for the withdrawn entry. Any wait listed entry that does not move off the wait list into the trial will receive a full refund. STAGING AREA AND HANDLER S BREIFING Staging Area will be out of view of search area(s). Staging area will include crating, and waiting area, as well as the secretary table for check-ins and posting of running order and results. The Handler s Briefing will take place in view of the search area prior to the start of each class, after the hide(s) have been set and after the Demo Dog has run. In the Handler s Briefing the judge will explain if there s an off-leash option, number of hides, maximum height of hides and maximum time 4 for the search. NO DOGS are to be present during the Handler s Briefing. -- The Club cautions all persons entering the show site and show grounds against all hazards with may exist, including but not limited to: Condition of the site/grounds, parking/loading/unloading areas, entrances, floors, and stairways, floor coverings, walkways, tenting/canopies, electrical appliances, cords, and fittings, exercise pens, and the presence of animals. All persons should take into consideration this is a sporting event and dress, act and exercise caution appropriate for the activity involved. All persons entering the show, the grounds, site and show areas for whatever purpose do so entirely at their own risk. By virtue of entering the show, the entrant has indicated their acceptance of the terms listed in this premium 9 list and assumes all risks involved

ATTENTION EXHIBITORS Dogs may arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. No crating space will be available for entered dogs. Exhibitors will be responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and themselves in and around the building and parking area. CAMPING ON SITE Parking for self-contained vehicles only. No Camper hookups are available. No electricity. No dumping. Motor homes may stay overnight at the trial site. Fee is $5/night. Limited availability. Search Area Conditions. Searches may be indoors, on matted, carpeted, or tiled surfaces, or outdoors on grass, gravel, earth, concrete, or asphalt surfaces. Search Area Sizes will be as follows, Container Novice (250-400sqft.), Interior Novice (100-200sqft.), Exterior Novice (200-400sqft.) Buried Novice (150-200sqft.) Handler Discrimination Novice (250-400sqft.). ADDITIONAL SITE INFORMATION Possession of Odors and Training. Chapter 5. Section 26 of the Scent Work Regulations state No person other than those engaged in the administration of a trial shall be in possession of any target odor when on the trial grounds. There shall be no training on the grounds of the AKC Scent Work trial, other than in a designated warm-up area. Spectator Area. Spectators are encouraged. Any person not handling a dog in the current class, or any person who has already completed their run in the class may choose to watch the search from the spectator area. Handlers may not watch other exhibitors from their class prior to their run except in the case of Handler Discrimination classes. No one outside the search area may assist the handler or disclose the location of the hide. Spectators who intentionally or unintentionally give aid to a team may be ask to leave the area by the judge. Spectators are forbidden to discuss details of the search with handlers who have not run. Crating space will not be available at the site. Durham Kennel Club and the site will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items left at the show site. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s). Any exhibitor failing to do so may be excused without benefit of refund if the Event Commit- Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. White Qualifying Score.........Dark Green High in Trial Only teams who participate in all elements offered at each level (Container, Interior, Exterior, and Buried), and qualify in each are eligible to win High in Trial. One High In Trial winner is chosen; there is no separate High In Trial for the Novice A and Novice B sections. The High in Trial is determined by adding the team s faults across the elements. If there is a tie based on faults, then the team s times across the elements will be summed and the faster-finishing team will win. Teams winning High In Trial will be awarded a rosette 6 NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS The safety of the dog is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all searches safely. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create an unnecessary disturbance or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the trial committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The American Kennel Club and its agents, employees, etc., will assume no responsibilities for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. The American Kennel Club reserves the right to decline entries for cause and may remove any dog on account of aggression. No one shall have any recourse or claim against the American Kennel Club or any official thereof. Collars, Leashes and Harnesses. During searches, dogs must wear a properly fitted collar or harness approved by the judge. Nothing may be hanging from the dog s collar or harness, except that a wearable camera such as a Go Pro may be mounted to the dog s harness, if desired. Leashes may be of any length and/or retractable. The leash should be made of plain, pliable material. All dogs must be on leash at all times, and retractable leashes may not be used when on trial grounds (except during judged searches). Dogs must enter and exit the search area with the leash attached to the collar or harness, including when waiting in the search area before and after the search. An off-leash option may be offered at the discretion of the judge, only if the area is completely enclosed. No entry fee will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee. No entry fee will be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by the action of the Trial Committee. Dogs pulled after closing because of injury or other medical condition are not eligible for a refund. Bitches in season will be refunded the full entry fee. Notification in writing must be given to the trial secretary no later than one half hour prior to the start of the first class of the day of the trial. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. The Owner of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at the search area when it is to be judged. The Club has no responsibility to provide service through a public address 7 system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required.
