THE BARBADOS KENNEL CLUB All Breeds Championship Show 8 th October 2006 Judge Mr. Derek Smith Critique It feels great to be back in Barbados to judge for the second time. Always a special place, the Island holds many memories for me. It was also wonderful to meet old and new friends. Again, as usual the Barbadian welcome and hospitality was second to none. The entry of 109 dogs was much appreciated. For Best in Show, from a quality line up I chose the Rhodesian Ridgeback, Ch. Cennenridge Zalika. Very handsome male on top form, full of quality, lovely head on strong neck, so well balanced and so very sound. Never put a foot wrong all day and looked a picture with the sun shining on his well conditioned, rich coloured coat. Excellent ridge too! Reserve Best in Show was the German Shepherd dog bitch Shotaan Asia at Seiunchin. Again full of quality and in sparkling condition, very well proportioned, good ratios and just right for body condition, lovely head, good neck, firm topline, sound going and coming and excellent gait, smooth, even and with power. Superbly handled to get the very best from her. Best Locally Bred in Show was the Great Dane bitch Ch. Edenwood Coriolanus. Black masked very dark fawn, presented a quality picture from any angle, lovely head, eye and mouth, balanced outline, very sound and very outgoing with a touch of dash and dare about her. Would just like a touch more weight on her. Best Puppy in Show and also Best Locally Bred Puppy was the Bouvier Calliope Rhapsody. She also won CC and Reserve Best of Breed. Such a sound fluid mover, very pretty head with darkest of eyes, lovely ribbing and excellent outline. All topped with a good quality, well presented coat. TERRIER GROUP FOX TERRIERS (SMOOTH)(DOGS) CLASS 1 Open 1 st Mr. G. & Mrs. S. Spencer s TAMEDALE NISTELROOY AT BARINDI At his first show, super dog, lovely head, strong neck, excellent bone and feet, immaculate shoulders, so very sound, once he gets his act together I feel he can hit the big time here. CC, BOB & Terrier Group. SCOTTISH TERRIERS (BITCHES) CLASS 2 Open 1 st Mrs. J. Parris SHILOH ELIJAH S PRICILLA Decent head, dark eyes, ears a little big, not good in front, and a bit too tall on leg, tailset could be better and coat a little open. BOB & Reserve in Group. Patel s MARINITA ARKOS OF NETANYA Full coated richly pigmented deep coloured Black & gold, very handsome dog of excellent proportions, lovely head with good mouth, so well made and has lovely bone and feet, sound both ways and has a reachy gait, very unlucky to meet Asia on such form. Won CC. 2 nd Miss D. Pearson s OTCH SHEPHERDGLEN KAYNE This Self Black is a typical Shepherd, not glamorous but very honest and absolutely sound, shown in gleaming condition. CLASS 62 Open 1st Miss S. Patel s SHOTAAN FRITZ OF NETANYA Very dark richly pigmented Black & Gold, lovely head but would prefer darker eyes, well constructed and in sparkling condition, sound and smooth reachy gait. Just a personal preference in type cost him the CC. Well deserved his RCC. 2 nd Messrs. M. Worrell, D. Manning, C. Charles & R. Rudder s SHOTAAN CUBA Very nice type, taller with a pleasing head, good construction, could have better feet, not quite the power gaiting of the winner. GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS(BITCHES) CLASS 63 Minor Puppy 1 st Mrs. S. Nieves DANAMAN NIKITA Liked her head but eyes could be darker, lovely bone and feet, balanced outline, sound going and coming, gaits well but croup and tail can detract a little. 2 nd Miss S. Patel s NETANYA RAVEN Pretty, quality baby; only just 6 months, admired her head and type and so feminine, feet must improve, not good behind at present. And not co-ordinated at all going round, needs time and some schooling. CLASS 64 Puppy 1 st Miss D. Sampson s CHOMAHAUS VONTRES Tallish Black & Gold, has type but not co-ordinated on the move and her feet must improve. 2 nd Mr. W. Burke s MOUNT WILTON VIRAGO AT WOLFSON Very well bodied sable, good bone for size and she has good feet. Could be a little taller and slightly more typical. CLASS 65 Junior 1st Miss D. Sampson s KIMBERLAND DELLA AMPRA Very typy Black & Gold, nice head well proportioned, sound going and coming, feet could be tighter and would insist on pulling strongly whilst gaiting, nice Shepherd. 2 nd Messrs. M. Worrell, D. Manning, C. Charles & R. Rudder s SHOTAAN GRETTA Tall Black & Gold, not the front assembly of winner and somewhat narrow althrough, could nt match the winner on the move. CLASS 66 Limit 8

1 st Mr. M. Worrell s SHOTAAN ASIA AT SEIUNCHIN CC, BOB & Reserve Best in Show. 2 nd Mrs. S. Nieves MONIFA VANTA Similar in type to winner, quality head, well constructed in stance. Sound going and coming. But not the croup of winner gaiting and tail can detract a little. 3 rd Messrs. M. Worrell, D. Manning, C. Charles & R. Rudder s SHOTAAN FARINA Handler just could not come to grips with her at all. Very unsound going and coming, just would not gait properly at all. CLASS 67 Open 1 st Miss S. Patel s NETANYA ULLA Lovely bitch, very typy, lovely head, well constructed, sound as they come, shown in lovely condition, just like a little more of her all over. RCC & RBOB. 2 nd Mr. M. Worrell s SILKENWOOD POSY OF KIMBERLAND Another lovely Shepherd, quality although, lovely head, very sound, well conditioned. Has a super gait at the right speed but can tend to pace at other times. Preferred type of winner. 3 rd Mrs. S. Nieves SHOTAAN CHARISMA VON MARINITA AT DANAMAN Nice, bitch, looked good in stance and in good condition, just would not co-operate with her handler and was outmoved here. BOXERS (DOGS) CLASS 69 Open 1 st Miss L. White s CH. MINDENWOOD THE HOTSHOT AT FIRESTORM Tall, elegant, yet masculine Brindle, nice head, good eye and mouth, good bone and construction, sound and full of attitude. CC & BOB. 2nd Mrs. J. Yacomine s CH. FIRESTORM ALL SHOOK UP Brindleson of the above but nothing like him, found his head too strong and eyes light, could be taller on the leg and his deep body loses him balance. RCC. BOXER (BITCHES) CLASS 70 Puppy 1 st Mr. I. Hutson s FIRESTORM S BORN TO BE WILD Very elegant and showy black masked plain Red, so sound and so assertive, clean head with dark eyes and good mouth, good outline and neck, would like a little more bone and substance althrough. Best Puppy in Breed. CLASS 71 Junior 1 st Miss G. Leach s SEEFELD SEA GODDESS OF WORTHINGTON My heartache of the show. High quality deer Red and White in fabulous condition, white as snow and every hair gleaming, lovely head with rise of scull and padded muzzle. Elegant neck and lovely outline, sound going and coming, just forcibly refused to show and would not help her handler for one second, a great pity as she is such a good boxer. RBOB. Winner of THE STUD DOG Class was the German Shepherd Dog MARINITA ARKOS OF NETANYA. Winner of THE BROOD BITCH Class was the Golden Retriever SH.CH. THATCHERS HIGHLAND MOON C.D.
