Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 1: Cock Blue Star Janssen is one of the top Janssen breeding cocks on our loft. The fact that he is permantently mated to our favorite hen Zacht Blauw should already make this point more than clear. For those among you that are still in doubt, his pedigree will quickly convince you: Eksteroog, Duivin 2 eerste prijzen, Oude Witoger, Jonge Raket, Jonge Merckx, 019, Afgekeurde, Blauwe Winterjonge,... all are present in Blue Star s pedigree. Need I say more? If you are still not convinced I cordially invite you to visit our loft and handle this outstanding cock. Even die hard sceptics will leave their last doubts behind.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 1: Hen Zacht Blauw Janssen (also known as Schoon Blauw Janssen) is a unique hen on our loft. Despite being almost 17 years old, she still lays two perfect eggs time and time again (at the time of writing). Almost every fancier visiting our lofts has handled her and has been amazed about her quality; not only when she was young, but also in recent years. Without exception everybody finds it hard to believe she s 17 years old, until they see her ring. Needless to say any hen that manages to stay on a breeding loft for so long (we got her as a baby directly from the Janssen Brother s loft in 1989) has got to show superior quality. Especially in Japan her offspring has been very popular because of the many winners it produced on shorter, middle and long distances alike. Her pedigree is a Janssen fan s heaven. On father s side she s descendant from the worldfamous 019. On mother s side we find other Janssen celebrities, such as Oude Witoger, Oude Vos van 81, Ijskop and Goede Jaarling. If you are interested in youngsters, there is no time to waste! First of all you ll usually have to face a waiting list and secondly we have no idea how long she will continue to lay. Once she stops, the chance of getting her first generation youngsters is gone forever!

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 2: Cock Bronze Meulemans Benjamin is an original Karel Meulemans. He is a direct grandson of the famous Benjamin, son of THE Golden Pair Oude Van den Bosch x Blauw Janssen. It is not so easy to find Meulemans pigeons today - even original ones - that are still so close to the super Golden Pair Meulemans, perhaps the most famous breeding pair ever in the history of pigeon sport. His grandmother on father s side is a granddaughter of Schoon Donker and of Kadet, both also famous children of the Golden Pair. The line of Schoon Donker is also found on mother s side of Bronze Meulemans Benjamin, complemented with the blood of the 1 st National Pau and the 1 st National Marseille. His grandparents on mother s side won 1 st Vierzon, 1 st Bourges and 1 st Argenton.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 2: Hen Donker Dax is a Meulemans hen of the new generation. Her ancestors are the material that made Karel Meulemans famous as a long distance racer, another paragraph in his impressive pigeon sport carreer. Donker Dax is a granddaughter of Donkere Dax, 1 st National Dax winner 1995. In her pedigree we also find 1 st National Pau and 1 st National Marseille as well as the old Meulemans line of Schoon Donker, daughter of the super Golden Pair.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 3: Cock Geschelpte Witpen Willy is an orginal Willy Van Berendonck. Those who know Willy regard him not only as THE Meulemans subsidiary, but also as Mr. Bourges (having won a 1 st National of this Barcelona of the middle distance twice). Geschelpte Witpen Willy carries in his genes the lines of the pigeons that made Willy Van Berendonck one of the strongest racers in his club in Schilde and in the famous Antwerp Union: Blauwe 124/77 (son of the basic cock Late Blauwe, himself a son of the famous Witneus Meulemans x daughter Drijbander Hofkens; Blauwe 124/77 was the father of the 1 st Derby winner in the Antwerp Union and also of Goede Jaarling, 1 st Acepigeon of the Antwerp Union) and Witpen As (Olympiad Winner Katowice, Poland and father of Bourgeske, 1 st National Bourges).

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 3: Hen 929 Chantilly is a pure Janssen Arendonk and a daughter of Donkere Chantilly with his own sister, Groenoog Chantilly. As such she is completely inbred towards the famous Chantilly of the Janssen brothers and therefore a prime stock hen.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 4: Cock Romeo is an original Karel Meulemans. He is on father s side a grandson of Den Brave, 1 st Narbonne, 1 st Montauban and 1 st Chateauroux. On father s side he is also descendant of the worldfamous Kadet, son of the Golden Pair. On mother s side Romeo also goes back all the way to the Golden Pair, through Liebling and Schoon Donker. In other words, Romeo is still for a very large percentage a Meulemans from the old strain.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 4: Hen Julia is an original Karel Meulemans hen of the new Meulemans long distance generation. On father s side she traces her origin back to Pantani, 1 st Marseille and 28 th National Marseille, one of the three pigeons that helped Karel win the National Long Distance Championship in 1999. Also on father s side we find the famous Witneus of Roger Florizoone, the Barcelona Primus inter Pares of 1997. As is befitting of a true Meulemans, Julia also stems from the worldfamous Golden Pair through Schoon Donker. On mother s side we also find 1 st Dax and 1 st National Marseille.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 5: Cock De 191 is a beautiful cock, bred by ourselves out of our 88 th National Barcelona winner Kleine Champ with his own sister. This inbreeding product is therefore a pure Jan Aarden through Herman Van Helmond. De 191 completed his young bird training and was then kept aside for breeding purposes. Those who doubt the quality of highly inbred pigeons may want to reconsider their opinion, given the fact that a full brother of De 191 not only completed the tough Sun City Million Dollar Pigeon Race training program, but ended 244 th in the final 630 km race against 2642 pigeons. The fact that the training program started with 5096 pigeons makes this position even more significant. In the same race another brother of De 191 finished 769 th. Not a top position, but given the fact that this pigeon also finished the complete training program plus the final race, enough proof of the quality of these birds.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 5: Hen 931 Chantilly is another daughter of our Donkere Chantilly x his own sister Groenoog Chantilly and therefore highly inbred towards her grandfather, the famous Chantilly of Janssen Arendonk. For this reason she is specially crossed with De 191, a long distance (Jan Aarden) brother x sister inbred pigeon. Anybody with some knowledge of genetics will not be surprised that we have high hopes for this combination.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 6: Cock Schone Geschelpte Janssen is the latest addition to our Janssen Arendonk collection. His father is Bonten, out of the lines of Vos van 90 Volière, Jonge Raket, Eksteroog, Oude Vos van 81 and Goede Jaarling. On mother s side he descends from Rakker, Raket, Oude Witoger and Jonge - and Oude Merckx to name but a few. In fact we can trace his pedigree back to 1926. With such a noble lineage in a 2004 body, we ve secured the continuation of our Janssen stock for years to come.

Breeding Loft Section 2: Couple 6: Hen Helena is a beautiful pure Janssen Arendonk hen. She is the daughter of our famous old blue hen Zacht Blauw Janssen and her regular cock Blue Star Janssen (Section 2 Couple 1). Because of the advanced age of her mother, which was a super breeding hen, we have kept her for ourselves to serve as her mother s successor. We are shore she s up to that task, but even if she s only half as good as her mother was, she ll still be a top breeding hen.
