Dogs competing in all other classes must be at least 9 months of age. These events are open to all breeds eligible to compete under the current AKC Herding Regulations except that entries For Exhibition Only will not be accepted. A list of eligible breeds is available at www.akc.org/events/herding/eligible_breeds.cfm Exhibitors are strongly encouraged to enter the Herding Instinct Test before the Trial Weekend, but entries will be accepted on the day of the event for the Instinct Test if there is still space available. All other classes must be entered by the closing date. Prepaid Catalogs Prepaid catalogs may be ordered by checking the box on the entry form and including payment of $3.00 per catalog with your entry fees. A limited number of catalogs will be available for sale on the trial weekend. Please submit a separate entry form for each class entered. ENTRIES CLOSE Friday, October 14, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Drawing for running order will take place at the home of the Trial Secretary, Meg McMichael, 408 Otterview Road, Forest, VA 24551 on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Bitches in season are permitted to run. They will be placed at the end of the running order in test classes and run in catalog order in trial classes. Entry fees less $5.00 per run will be refunded for injured dogs following the close of entries with a signed statement from a veterinarian. Alternates List: Entries received after the numerical limits have been reached but prior to closing will be placed on an alternates list. If you DO NOT wish to be on the alternates list, please enclose a signed statement to that effect with your entry. The alternates list will be used to fill vacancies in the drawn running order, with the first available alternate entry replacing the first vacancy in the class entered. Per Chapter 1, Section 13 of the Herding Regulations, In tests and for moveups from a test class to a trial class, alternate entries shall be given priority over dogs that are eligible to be moved-up. Within the trial classes, requests to move-up shall be given priority over alternate entries. Alternates will be permitted to run if there is an absentee in an earlier class (provided the alternate s class has not begun) which was not filled on the same course, same type of livestock and under the same Judge, or if a dog has been marked absent with the Event Secretary prior to the beginning of the alternate s class. Entry fees will be refunded for alternates whose dogs do not run. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. STOCK Breezy Hill Farm furnishes the sheep and cattle. Sheep will be mostly Katahdins and Katahdin crosses. 3-5 sheep per run test and trial classes. Cattle will be Holstein, Angus and Holstein/Angus crosses. 3-5 head per run. A medication fee of $20, or the Veterinarian s bill, or the cost of the animal will be charged to the owner of any dog causing damage to livestock, whether such damage is caused directly or indirectly by the dog. Please read the agreement on the back of the entry form. Sheep are valued at $150 each. Cattle are valued at $500 each. When not competing, dogs must be confined or held on leash and kept away from the livestock. Under no circumstances will dogs be allowed to disturb the resting stock or interfere outside the ring with another dog s performance in the ring. The Dog Owners Training Club of Lynchburg and the owners of Breezy Hill Farm assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers or spectators, or by any of their dogs or property. No unauthorized persons or dogs allowed in barn or house. Children must be kept under the control of their parents or guardians at all times and must be kept away from all farm equipment and livestock. Email will be the primary means of communication unless the exhibitor requests otherwise. Entries not on official AKC entry forms or photocopies of entry forms without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the official AKC entry form are not acceptable. Telephone, fax, email, incomplete, illegible or unsigned entries cannot be accepted. All entry fees payable in US funds. Entries without full fees will not be accepted. Entry fees include a $3.50 AKC Recording Fee per entry. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry. The Secretary will add a $25.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor may result in the exhibitor s entries being accepted on a CASH ONLY basis. Errors on Entry Blanks: Owners are responsible for errors in filling out entry forms, whoever may make such errors. No entry fee will be refunded in case of any such errors after the closing date. No refunds will be given for overpayment of fees if the error is less than $10.00. No dog may be entered in two classes on the same course with the same kind of stock under the same judge at any trial. Declination of entries: DOTC may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness, or other cause, and no one shall have recourse against DOTC, any official thereof, or any judge. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Test/Trial Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the organizing committee, it is impossible to open or complete the test/trial, no refund of entry will be made. Extreme weather conditions, including, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme temperatures, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, livestock, exhibitors, judges and spectators. The well being of dogs, livestock, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance. In the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the test/trial before

completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. Bring your own shade tents and chairs. Wading pools will be available for your dogs. Lunch will be available for purchase at the trial site both days. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. I (we) will pay for any livestock injuries or the replacement value in the event of serious injury to the livestock caused by my (our) dog. I (we) agree that determination of whether the injury is serious shall be made by the event veterinarian and is binding on me (us). Additionally, I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify, defend and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves) or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this event, however such injuries, death or property damage may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by the negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees, agents, or any other persons.
