Our Dino mite Research Project By Mrs. Johnson s DINO MITE second graders March 2013

Chasmosaurus By Yeshaira Diaz Chasmosaurus dinosaur whose name means chasm lizard. It weighs 3.5 tons and is 16 to 25 feet long. It eats plants. It probably ate palms, and other plants. It has three short horns on its face and four sturdy legs. The most important fact is Chasmosaurus hatched from eggs. Another thing I learned is that Chasmosaurus has four legs. The most special thing about my dinosaur is that it lived 76 to 70 million years ago.

Acaocanosaurus By: Noah W. Acaocanosaurus dinosaur whose name means high spined lizard. It weighs 5,000 pounds and is 30 40 feet long. It eats meat. It has two long muscular legs and it has seventeen inch claws. The most important fact is Acaocanosaurus fossils have been found in what is now Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. Another thing I learned is it had sickle like like claws. The most special thing about my dinosaur is it lived 115 105 million year ago.

Edmontosaurus By: Christian Edmontosaurus dinosaur whose name is Edmonton lizard. It weighs about 3.5 tons and is 42 feet long. It eats plants. It has a tooth less bill, stiff tail, bulky body and hind legs, much bigger than front legs. The most important fact is it was a herbivore! Another fact I learned is it lived in the late Cretaceous period! The most special thing is it s a duckbilled dinosaur.

Kronosaurus By: Noah D. Kronosaurus dinosaur that means titan lizard. It weighs up to 22 tons and is 23 30 feet long. It eats cephalopods. It has a long head and strong jaws. The most important tfact about my dinosaur is it was not a dinosaur. Another fact I learned is that fossils have been found in South America. Themost special thing about my dinosaur is it had four paddle like flippers.

Dilophosaurus By: Nick Dilophosaurus dinosaur whose name means double crested lizard. It weighs 650 to 1000 pounds and is about 20 feet long. It eats meat. It has sharp teeth and claws. The most important fact is it walked and ran on two feet. Another thing I learned is it had hallowed bones. The most special thing about my dinosaur is it had a s shaped neck.

Velociraptor By: Mara Bossert Velociraptor dinosaur whose name means speedy thief. It weighs 15 to 33 pounds and is 5 to 6 feet long. It eats meat. It has long thin legs and an s shaped neck. The most important fact is that it was a lightly built, fast running, predator with hollow bones and large brains. Another thing I learned is that the Velociraptor s brain was relatively large in comparison to it body. The most special thing about my dinosaur is the Velociraptor was among the smartest dinosaurs.

Pterodactylus By: Mackenzie Burke Pterodactylus dinosaur whose name means Winged finger. It was a light weighted flying reptile, andhada a wingspan of 2.5 3.1 feet. It eats fish. It is a carnivore. It has large eyes and a long neck. The most important fact is the skull was about t24 2.4 inches. Another thing I learned is it wasn`t a dinosaur, but more of a flying reptile. It was built with hollow bones.

Syntarsus By: Joah Syntarsus dinosaur whose name means fused or flat ankle. It weighs about 60 70 pounds and is 10 feet long. It eats other Syntarsus and meat. It has light hollow bones and walks on two legs. The most important fact is that this predator lives in packs. Another thing I learned is Syntarsus eats its own kind. The most special thing about my dinosaur is Syntarsus fossils have been found in Zimbabwe in Africa and in Arizona in the USA.

Megaraptor By: Jake Megaraptor dinosaur whose name means Huge robber. It s huge, but lightly built, and is 20 2626 feet tlong. It eats meat. It probably ate anything it could slash and had very sharp teeth. It also had a huge 4th claw. The most important fact is it s a bird like dinosaur. Another thing I learned is, it s among the smartest dinosaurs. It lived about 90 84 million years ago.

Dimetrodon By: Jaedon Dimetrodon whose name means two measures tooth. It weighs 550 pounds and is 11.5 feet tall. It eatsother relatives and insects. It has sharp teeth and sharp claws. The most important fact is that fossils were found in Texas and Oklahoma. Another thing I learned is that it walked on two legs. The most special thing about my dinosaur is it had a large flap like sail on its back.

Ankylosaurus By: Henry Ankylosaurus. It means fused, stiff, or bent lizard. It weighs 3 4 tons and is 4 feet tall. It eats plants (herbivore).it has horns on its head and four legs. The most important tfact tis its tracks were found in Sucre, Bolivia. Another thing I learned is its fossils were found in western United States. The most special thing about my dinosaur is it lived in the late Cretaceous period.

Brachiosaurus By: Gregory Brachiosaurus dinosaur whose name means arm lizard. It weighs 33 88 tons and is 85 feet long. it eats tops of trees. It has four legs. The hind legs were bigger. The most important fact is it had a long neck that it reached things with. Another thing I learned is the Brachiosaurs eggs have been found in other dinosaur nests. Brachiosaurus was first found in the Grand River Valley, Colorado, USA in 1900.

Coelophysis By: Emma Coelophysis dinosaur whose name means hollow form. It was a light dinosaur and is nine feet long. It eats its own kind. It has sharp teeth and has clawed fingers. The most important fact is it ate meat including its own kind. Another thing I learned is it walked on two feet. The most special thing about my dinosaur is the footprint is 4 inches across.

Euoplocephalus By: Dominique Euoplocephalus dinosaur whose name means well armored head. It weighs 2 tons and is 20 feet long. It eats plants. It has four legs and leathery skin.the most important fact is that it doesn t have hard skin. The most special thing about my dinosaur is that it has a small brain.

Eoraptor By: Brayden Eoraptor dinosaur whose name means dawn raptor. He is a light weight dinosaur and is 3 feet long. It eats meat. It has sharp teeth, a long tail, and long thin legs. The most important fact is Eoraptor was found in the same rock as a Herrerasaurus in South America. Another thing I learned is it lived during the late Triassic period. The most special thing about my dinosaur is it may also have been a scavenger (meaning it would eat dead animals).

Albertosaurus By: Ashley G. Albertosaurus dinosaur whose name means lizard from Alberta. It weighs up to three tons and is 11 feet tall. It eats plant eating dinosaurs. It has sharp teeth and walks on two legs. The most important fact is it had two fingered hands on short arms. Another thing I learned is it lived in the cretaceous period, about 76 74 million years ago. The most special thing about my dinosaur is the idea of these enormous predators hunting together is extremely scary.

Homalocephale By: Ashley B. Homalocephale dinosaur whose name means level headed lizard. It weighs 95 pounds and is 5 feet long. It eats plants, seeds, and fruit. It has leaf shaped teeth and large eyes. The most important fact is an almost complete skeleton kl of Homalocephale was found in Mongolia, in 1901. Another thing I learned is Homalocephale walked on two legs, g, and was not a very fast dinosaur. The most special thing about my dinosaur is Homalocephale may have been a herding dinosaur that lived in small groups in coastal and upland regions. This is not certain since no bone beds of Homalocephale have been found.

Apatosaurus By: Aniyah Apatosaurus dinosaur whose name means The deceptive lizard. It weighs 33 38 tons and is 15 feet tall. It eats plants. It has four legs and a long neck. The most important fact is Apatosaurus nostrils were located on the top of its head. Another thing I learned is it got its name because scientists once put the wrong headon it and called it a Brontosaurus.The most special thing aboutmy dinosaur is Apatosaurus footprints, called track ways, have been found in Colorado U.S.A. They were a yard wide.

Homalocephale By: Karlie Homalocephale dinosaur whose name means level headed lizard. it weighs about 95 pounds and is 5 feet long. It eats soft plants, fruit, and seeds. It has a stiff tail, bumpy knobs on it s snout, and leaf shaped teeth. The most important fact is it had a tiny brain and large eyes. The most special thing about my dinosaur is it had a stiff tail.

Apatosaurus By: Kirsten Goeden This report is about the Apatosaurus dinosaur whose namemeans means deceptive lizard. It weighs 33 to 38 tons and is 70 to 90 feet long. It eats plants. It has long legs, no horns, and it walks on two legs. The most important fact is it hatched from enormous eggs up to 1 foot wide. Another thing I learned is my dinosaur moved very slowly. The most special thing is that my dinosaur was even bigger than an adult human.
