In this book, Amelia Bedelia follows her to do list literally but usually misunderstands what her employers actually want her to do. Grasshopper Pie and Other Poems Poetry is one of the oldest forms of literature. Poetry allows you to share your thoughts and feelings in a unique way. Poetry looks different than a story. The Day Jimmy s Boa Ate the Wash Sequence means time order. When events happen in a story, they happen in a sequence. Something happens first. Then other things happen. It is important for a reader to remember the sequence of events. In The Day Jimmy s Boa Ate the Wash the author tells about a class trip to a farm. Please number the events (1 11) in the order they actually happened. Put a 1 in the blank for the first event that took place, a 2 in the blank for the second event, and so on. A cow started crying. Jenny threw an egg at Tommy. The pigs were on the school bus eating the lunches. The farmer yelled at the pigs to get off the school bus. The Drinking Gourd (Parents Please read and discuss this book with your child.) When you read a book, it is important to read everything in the book. Make sure you have read the poem at the beginning, the reward poster in the middle, and the author s note at the end. Answer the following questions in complete sentences. 1.
