This month s meeting is all about our show, which is rapidly approaching. We need a lot of help and there is bound to be something for everyone to do. By all means bring something to carve on while you listen and help plan. Refreshments available as always, and yes there is a door prize (checkout the sidebar, this page). We need members to have exhibit tables at the show, commit to being there both days. Your display should be predominately woodcarving but if you do other crafts as well you can also display those. If you are selling you are responsible for all licenses and sales taxes. Reserve your table now email Chris Pittman at: chris@doubleeaglegifts.com On Friday the 23rd we will need several people to bring pickup trucks to The Mauldin Cultural Center around 11:00 am to transport show materials to the Simpsonville Activity Center. We also need people there with hand trucks to help move the stuff in & out. BOWLING PIN SANTAS Many years ago CHIP- CHATS ran a feature on a Bowling Pin Santa. Greg Barnes bought miniature pins and carved one. CHIP-CHATS has another article on a bowling pin snowman in the latest issue. So Greg is donating 3 of the bowling pins as door prizes. 2 for this month and one for November. carving throughout the upstate of South Carolina!1
JUST A FEW WORDS... from the club president 64 WOODCARVERS MISSING SUCH A TRAGEDY! We have 84 members, but we have averaged less than 20 in our monthly meetings. What has happened to the other 64? I can only assume I am doing something wrong, I must be missing something. Over the last several months I have repeatedly asked for suggestions, to date I received only one. It s less than two weeks to our show and everything seems to be speeding up. The Harley Refsal class is full. But the SAMI Laplander style Bracelet class has plenty of spaces available. Did you tell your spouse about it? It s only one day, October 24th, that is the Saturday of our show. This is a great way to get the Family involved in club activities. Will I be able to finish my SHOW THEME piece? Looks doubtful right at the moment (but I am trying). Your Dad, Your Grandfather and your great-grandfather all probably served in the military. This is a good way to honor them. We have a great project coming up in November: Carving a pineapple. Look for details elsewhere in this issue. MARK YOUR CALENDAR! We have been invited back for the WOODCRAFT ANNUAL SHOW again this year. It is on October 30th & 31st. I can t be there on Friday the 30th and need a volunteer to head this up. Our annual Holiday Luncheon is set for Saturday, December 12th. This will take the place of our December meeting. It will take place at the Mauldin Senior Center again this year. Good food, Good folks and a Good time! carving throughout the upstate of South Carolina!2
