The Monthly Newsletter for February/March 2014 Chinese Shar-Pei Rescue of Lancaster, PA Operation Scarlet Celebrates Twenty-Three Years February 21, 1991 February 21, 2014

Twenty-Third Anniversary Donations In honor of Operation Scarlet's twenty-third anniversary and the rescue of over 1170 Shar-Pei, Scarlet is asking if all who could, would please donate $23 to commemorate twenty-three years of rescuing homeless Shar-Pei. That donation would represent one dollar for each year that Operation Scarlet has been rescuing homeless Shar-Pei and providing them with a second chance in life. All donations received will go towards rescues in 2014. As in past years, your donation may be made in "Honor of" or in "Memory of" your Shar-Pei, or list the donor's name(s). All of the names will be published on special commemorative pages in an upcoming newsletter acknowledging all those that participated. It is our hope to have as many of the over 1170 Shar-Pei that have been rescued in the past twenty-three years, represented in the newsletter. We would also like to invite you to send your personal comments to include in these pages. Pictures sent from the candle lighting ceremony for the 23rd anniversary Alize, Bumpus and Emma in memory Please send your donations to: Operation Scarlet, Inc P.O. Box 8463 Lancaster, PA 17604 Please write "Anniversary" on the memo line. Scarlet 1989

We are Looking for Loving Forever Homes I am a young and very handsome guy who is waiting for a forever home with someone to love. Please adopt me and give me my second chance in life. Joker China was 1 of 4 Shar Pei surrendered to a shelter when their owner lost their home. She s a black brush coat who has it all. She has the good looks and the regal bearing of a Shar Pei but she also has a playful side. She loves attention and gives lots of kisses in return. She walks well on a leash, enjoying the outdoors. She takes life in stride, calmly taking it all in. China would be a good fit for almost any home willing to offer her love and a forever place to enjoy her new life with her new family. China

I lived in New York for the first four to five years of my life, but I lost my home and I am looking for a second chance in life. Glory I lost my first family of five years when moved did not take me with them. I am really good, love people (the big ones and the little ones) other dogs and yes, even felines! Did I mention that I am a mix of a Shar-Pei and a Pug? That is called an Ori-Pei, or just cute for short. Albert

I am a pretty young lady who is playful and confident. I am longing for a friend or family that I could call my own. Wrinkles Tom I have been waiting for my forever home for some time now. I am a big Pei, 55 pounds, all boy and full of fun. I am a handsome guy, about three years old.

I was awarded Operation Scarlet's 2013 Rescue Dog of the Year award. I am a pretty girl who boasts not just good looks, but brains as well. I am always a well behaved lady and friendly to all I meet. Please, pick me! Brisky Would You Like to Adopt One of Scarlet's Kids? Prospective adopters are required to complete an application (available at OperationScarlet.com) and submit it to Operation Scarlet. The adoption fee is $350 and helps to cover the cost of food and medical bills while the dog is under the care of Operation Scarlet. The health exam includes spaying/neutering, yearly inoculations, heartworm testing and treatment of any other health concerns that may be detected during the exam. Email us at OpScarlet@verizon.net
