Be a part of the primary fund raising event for the Waco Humane Society as we celebrate our 17th year by attending the festival and showing your SUPPORT Our Event The 17th Annual Wine & Food Festival benefiting the Humane Society of Central Texas Our 1,200 + guests can taste more than 200 wines and sample food from over 20+ restaurants in a fun and casual setting. This years event will be held downtown at the 301 Event Center utilizing outdoor space with tents as well as indoor space providing ample room to accommodate up to double the capacity of attendance over last year. Event activities include live music; the Beer & BBQ tent that includes a BBQ cook-off and college games on large-screen televisions; silent auction; the Bubble and Baubles champagne event and jewelry raffle; and the famous Cork Pull where every participant walks away with a bottle of wine. Our VIP area features more exclusive and new-tomarket wines, all presented with specific food pairings. And all of our guests enjoy the Red Carpet Dog Walk where some of our shelter dogs have the chance to walk the red carpet in hopes of finding a new home. Our Purpose The Humane Society of Central Texas resides onsite at the City of Waco Animal Services Center so that we can place as many animals as possible in loving homes. Our favorite scenario is where we assist in reuniting lost pets with their current owners. For the truly homeless pets in our community, we work onsite and at offsite retail locations to match these pets with new adoptive families. We also work with our local Waco Animal Alliance partners to network hundreds of animal rescue organizations to transfer animals into rescues that will in turn work to find new adoptive families for them. And for the animals that need a little more time to find the right home or rescue, we recruit and train a network of foster families that care for the animals in their home to provide the necessary care, structure and socialization. Our Need The Humane Society of Central Texas is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization. Our cost in placing a pet into a new home far out weights our adoption fees. Because we feel it is our mission to keep the adoption fees low, we rely on fundraising to offset the difference. The Wine & Food Festival is our largest annual fundraiser and represents a significant portion of our operating budget.
