The handler can direct the dog through the performance of obstacles in the order and direction of his/her own choosing. The team has 35 seconds to accumulate points. Each obstacle can only be used twice for points. If the dog performs two obstacles in a row of the same point value (for instance, two contacts), then this is rabbiting and there will be a 5 point penalty. Faulted obstacles are not awarded points. For every second over the 35-second mark that it takes the dog to cross the finish line, there will be a 2 point penalty. There is no penalty for crossing the line early. Highest points determine placements; time is a tiebreaker. Jumps = 1 point Tunnels, Tire, Weaves = 3 points Contacts = 5 points BASKET GAME (Box Game) Basket Game is a typical sequencing course like a standard run, but requires that the handler attempt to remain inside a containment area once the dog clears the first obstacle. This requires some distance handling as in a Gamblers course. The handler needs to remain in the basket until the dog clears the last obstacle. A five point penalty is assessed each time the handler leaves the basket. There are two ways to earn bonuses. You will receive a 2 point bonus for every successful send-away and a 1 point bonus for every full second under the standard course time. This may help balance any faults for stepping out of the basket to help your dog. Qualifying criteria will be based on the SCT. Scoring is Time plus Faults minus Bonuses. FLY BUNNY (Las Vegas) The object of this game is to accumulate as many points as possible in sixty seconds by running sequences of varying point value. Time starts when the team crosses starting line to any sequence of choice. To get points for a sequence, the dog must complete the sequence without fault. If a dog drops a bar on a sequence, the bar is not reset and the sequence is deemed ineligible for point accumulation. Point accumulation stops at 60 seconds. No points are given for partially completed sequences. Teams must run across the start/finish line to stop time. 3
WILD WEST RABBIT (Wild West Pinball) The purpose of this game is to accumulate as many points as possible in the time allotted. The handler chooses the path through a course of obstacles that are assigned point values, with all dogs starting at the Bunny Trail. Jumps are worth 10 points, and may be taken any number of times, but not back to back. If the dog drops a bar 10 faults are assessed, and the bar is not reset and the jump is out of play. Golden Eggs are worth 50 points and may be taken no more than two times but not back to back. Golden Egg weaves must be completed in their entirety (no pop-outs), with multiple attempts to correctly complete the weaves allowed. The Bunny Cliff Hanger (the teeter) is worth 100 points. The Bunny Cliff Hanger may be taken no more than two times (not back to back) and is only approachable by passing through the Dead Rabbit Gulch up. If the dog enters either one of the Dead Rabbit Gulch Up tunnels, it must repeat the tunnel before moving on to attempt the Bunny Cliff Hanger. At 50 seconds a whistle will blow and point accumulation stops. The team must cross the finish line to stop time. To qualify the team must accumulate the required number of points based on their skill level. Scoring placements will be based on points then time. JUDGE S BRIEFING ON DAY OF TRIAL SUPERCEDES ANY PREVIOUS BRIEFINGS. The Following is a List of Acceptable Obstacles: A-Frame Closed (Collapsed) Tunnel Open (Pipe) Tunnel Teeter Table Tire Jump Weave Poles Single and Winged Jumps Dogwalk TDAA uses scaled-down equipment on a proportionally set course. All obstacles will be on a small-dog scale. See http://www.k9tdaa.com for details. WARM-UPS: A warm up area consisting of a regulation agility jump shall be provided for all exhibitors. OBSTACLE FAMILIARIZATION will be provided for all dogs who enter this trial as their FIRST TDAA trial. DOG WEAR TDAA allows dogs to wear bandanas, sweaters, or costumes while running TDAA trials. To date there are no specific rules as to what is allowed. Please use your common sense so that nothing is loose or hanging down. Since this is an Easter trial, Easter apparel would be perfectly in order! NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS The safety of the dogs is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. All dogs must be on leash or crated at all times except when in the ring or when in the designated agility warm-up area. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Trial Committee, be asked to leave the trial site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. Food and toys are not permitted in the course area and handlers are not allowed to use whistles or other instruments or devices. Exhibitors are responsible for being at the ring gate when it is their turn to run. Exhibitors may wear shirts or insignia of their training group if they wish. 4
At the handler s option, the dog may wear a flat (buckle or quick release) collar without tags or other attachments. Choke collars, pinch collars, electric and dummy electric collars are prohibited. Unsportsmanlike conduct including rough handling or misconduct of any kind will result in an excusal from the ring. Instructions A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for a show closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of the new owner in any show for which entries closed after the date of acquisition, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been made to TDAA. Fast Track Move-Up How the Fast Track Move-Up Works Titles may be grand-fathered from other organizations on a Fast Track basis. A dog with a higher title from another organization may move up on the same day to a higher level of TDAA competition with a qualifying score. It is possible to move up from Beginners to Superior on the same day, if the dog qualifies first in Beginners, and then qualifies again in Intermediate. Likewise in Games classes, moving from Games I to Games II, then from Games II to Games III. A qualifying score in the lower class is required to move up to the higher class. The dog s owner must submit a copy of title certificates for the dog. Under no circumstance may the dog fast track to a higher level of competition than that at which it competes in the other organization. Include $8.00 with your entry and check appropriate boxes on the entry form. Payment of the $8.00 is no guarantee that your dog will qualify at the lower level and is non-refundable. This is a one-time fee. Please mark your entry for those classes you wish to have a Fast Track move-up should your dog qualify. VOLUNTEERS! By its very nature TDAA is small. Small dogs, small equipment, small trials, small number of handlers. We need all hands to make a small trial work. Please sign up to volunteer to work during classes you are not running in. We will make sure you get adequate time to warm up your dog and do your walk-through. We want everyone to have a pleasant experience running TDAA and at the same time helping to make the trial run smoothly. FOOD: There will be a potluck lunch organized for each day of the trial and a fantastic workers raffle! MEASURING FOR JUMP HEIGHT NEW!! EVERYONE MUST READ!! Due to the new rules regarding jump heights, almost all dogs will be required to be measured by the judge of record at this trial even though you have been previously measured. The judge will record the dog s measured jump height, which exemptions apply and the dog s actual jump height. After receiving 2 measurements, you will receive an official jump height card. If the measurements cause the dog to be measured into different jump heights, then a third judge is required to make a final measurement. Dogs will now earn placements in their measured jump height NOT in their actual jump height. 6
