Download from the NADAC s website. Visit http://nadac.com/rules.htm or 2.) Email your request for an electronic copy to: team@myagilitydog.com PURPOSE OF BEGINNERS AGILITY TEST - The purpose of a NADAC Beginners Agility Test is to demonstrate the ability of the dog and its handler to perform many of the basic tests to prepare them for a future agility career. The dog should be under control at all times and show a willingness to work with the handler. Handlers should always conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike fashion. ELIGIBILITY FOR ENTRY: o All healthy, trained dogs over 12* months of age are eligible to compete in NADAC Beginners Agility test. There is no leeway in the dog s age, even by one day; the dog MUST be a minimum of twelve months old on the day of the test in which the dog is to compete. (*14 months for Level II, 16 months for Level III) o Dogs must be registered with NADAC prior to competing in a NADAC Beginners Agility test. o Getting your dog s number is fast and easy, just register on-line and receive a number immediately. A snail mail registration will take a minimum of four weeks to process. Go to http://www.nadac.com/dogs.htm o All NADAC Beginners Agility tests shall be open to purebred and mixed breed dogs. BASIC RULES - (See Beginners Agility Program Guidelines for complete rules. http://nadac.com/rules.htm ) o All exercises are timed. o The beginning of the time allowed will be indicated by the tester saying good luck. o Handlers may have up to 15 seconds between exercises to settle their dogs or praise them. The dogs should remain under control of the handler and not run away or wander away sniffing between exercises. o The tester may end the test and not allow for any additional exercises to be performed if they feel that the dog is not under sufficient control of the handler or if he/she feels the dog is unable to perform all obstacles in a safe manner. TITLES - Once a dog has three qualifying rounds in a Level, they will receive a Beginner Agility title. A purple qualifying ribbon shall be given for each qualifying round in each class. BEGINNERS AGILITY ENTRY, TEST AND SAMPLE COURSE o Levels I and II Test consists of 8 parts, Level III has 7 parts. o Part 1 is the written segment; correct completion of the entry form. Entrant must: Write their dog s registration number in a correct format Indicate how tall their dog is at the withers and the height their dog would jump if entered in the Proficient Division and if entered in the Skilled Division. Level II - The dog should be able to stand and be measured without showing excessive fear or aggression towards the tester while being measured. List the breed of their dog or indicate mixed breed. (Any made up breeds are not acceptable and a mixed breed should not be listed by the mix of breeds, such as BC/Aussie. It should just say mix breed or All American, etc., no breed should be listed unless it is a purebred.) Write in a manner that is legible for the tester to read clearly. o The other seven/six are course exercises. See the Beginners Agility Guidebook for details. o A sample set of test exercises is attached. While the exercises do not change the Tester may change the order. o At this Test, the a-frame exercise will be replaced with Hoop/Barrel exercise. o The handler may have treats in a closed bag or pouch or pack, but they may not withdraw treats to give the dog until all tests are completed and they are outside the ring at least 10 feet. o Most exercises are completed off-leash without collars; leash and collar maybe replaced between exercises. o A copy of the Beginners Agility Guidebook is available at http://nadac.com/rules.htm.
