PRESIDENT S MESSAGE It has been very pleasing to see quite an increase in the numbers of our new members in recent weeks. We welcome you most sincerely to our Club, and we hope our training and the good advice from our instructors has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience for you, and is what you would have expected from an obedience club. Of course we would certainly welcome any feedback, comments, suggestions etc from you at any time. Some of you may have noticed, and some of you may even have briefly experienced a few weeks ago, a variation to our training known as Rally O, which we hope will make training more interesting and enjoyable for you. The idea is being introduced by our chief instructor, Kay but unfortunately she has been overseas since then. However as soon as Kay returns Rally O will resume, and hopefully next year will be a permanent and important part of our training programme. A big thank you to those of you who are helping to put away the agility equipment each week. People may not be aware that our equipment officer, Dave and just a couple of others usually arrive quite early each Sunday to get out and set up the equipment, so it s good to see the task of putting it away again is being shared by the people who (or rather whose dogs) actually use it. Just a reminder that our Chatter editor, Fay would love to hear from you if you have, or can think of anything you might like to contribute the our club newsletter. For example I m sure some of you would have one or two interesting and/or amusing stories to tell about your beloved dogs how you acquired them (especially rescue dogs ), antics they ve been up to etc. Come on guys, how about some of you put pen to paper and write us a brief story! Our year of training is rapidly coming to an end and will conclude with our Christmas break-up party on 13 December. We hope this will be a great day with lots of fun and games, a raffle and a photo competition - plus a sausage sizzle and other food provided by the Club. Everyone is welcome and please bring along family and friends (you might let us know by 6/12 how many, so we can have an idea of how many sausages we ll need!) No normal training on this day classes will resume on 17 January 2010. Finally, I d just like to thank our hardworking and extremely dedicated committee and instructors (remember, they re all volunteers!) for their wonderful support and for all that they re doing to make our Club the great little group that it is. And to you, our members (without you, we wouldn t have a Club!) thank you so much for your wonderful contribution this past year, and we look forward to catching up with you again next year. On behalf of the committee I wish you all, and your beloved dogs, a very happy Christmas and an incredibly wonderful New Year. Peter 3
Lulu s Column It s that time of year again when we play musical chairs, fastest recall, waggiest tail, photo comp bring in all your best photos at our fun day on 13 th December from 10am-12mD. We are forming a special choir which Robyn and Victor are conducting. What else is happening and what do you do when the choir stops singing? You ll have to come along and find out. There will be prizes, sausages and lots of laughs. Hope you can come. You should see the great raffle prizes. Have you seen Gracie, Ruby s baby? Isn t she cute? She s bigger than me already. Oh - and that s a good rally that Ruby sets up for us to practice ours sits, stands, drops and heeling what a lot of time Ruby must spend finding these new and exciting things for us to do. Honey s nursing training is going well and she is attending doing a lot of hospital visiting. So many dogs have been turning up on Sundays even training in the rain I was snug in my crate but I could see them out there getting wet and having fun. Just as well it was dry for my class as my eyeliner runs in the wet weather. Dog was wearing blue or green zinc on his pink nose, which was pretty funny but I didn t laugh at him. I don t think he realised it was raining. I ve been to Urunga for a holiday and the fifth flood this year. I was hoping to miss a meeting but they changed it till the next week. If I have to go to meetings I should be the boss. Maybe I should get into politics and sort out some their problems. What do you think? By the time you read this I might be leader of the opposition or even the first poodle prime minister. I ve also been approached to take over the Labor Party in NSW- now that would be a challenge. Did you hear that one of Peter s Westies, Polly, has been given the lead role in a dog promo on TV. Keep and eye out for a cute Westie named Polly and you tell everyone you have friends in high places. Victor wrote to me wondering why, when the trumpet is played at home, his ears go horizontal. Victor this is your soul trying to fly relax and enjoy it. Peter, Lily and family have been telling me about animal therapy more to come in next installment. Now that s something I could do with, if it involves lying on a couch with a cool drink. By the way thanks to Oakwood Petcare and to Luv em pet treats for sending all those samples Oakwood grooming products are available at all Petbarn Stores which are featured in the Petbarn December catalogue 3/12/2009 to 24/12/2009 with a 15% Discount off 280mL Oakwood Shampoo Range. www.oakwoodpetcare.com. (I gave them a plug in my column due to their generosity.) Merry Chistmas see you on 17 th January. Love from Lulu (wearing my Egyptian headdress) xx 4
